《Summoned and Unwanted》Chapter 186 - The origin of Soul System

"What a great skill, teacher. I want one." Lenn dropped a wooden practice sword from his hands in surprise. "Teacher is awesome! I will go and get some sharp knives!" Renn enthusiastically left to the kitchen. "Meat! Meat! Look Plow! Meat!" Tula spun around with Plow tightly in her arms. She looked excited to eat. Yula looked at Vincent and worried about how tired he looked. "You can leave it to us. Rest first. Then we will wake you up when it's time to eat." She reassuringly said. "Thank you, but I want Lupa and Ester to skin the boar's pelt first. Lupa knows how to cut and Ester how to preserve with cold." Vincent then waved and left to sleep. A couple of hours later, three small legs stepped on Vincent. The sudden feeling of someone touching him woke him up. "Huh? Plow? Why are you here?" Vincent murmured as his eyes squinted open. "Plow jumped on the bed. I think she wanted to wake you up herself. Big brother, we are cooking the food. Let's go to eat." Tula picked Plow and went to the yard with drool about to show. [How do you feel?] "Not that tried. I guess my stamina recovery is still better as a side effect of my growth." Vincent got up from the bed and then used Inspection on himself. [Name] Vincent Agius [Race] Human [Age] 32 [Condition] Healthy, Tired [Soul Power] 0sp [Traits] Blood Tempered Body Stage One, Mana Body [Class] Soul Hero [Class] Soul Mutation [Stats] Strength 9 || Agility 8 || Perception 6 || Mana 3 [Class Soul Hero] *Soul Retainer Bond (Blessed) *Inspection (Addons) - Soul System, Third Eye *Soul Spells - Minor Heal *Soul Dimensional Storage stage one 12xCubed (1/10 | ∞) *Promised Quest (3 quests active.) [Class Soul Mutation] *O?e4/0ad *Overheat (Stage Three) - Overflow (Shared) *Mutation Trait - Pain Mitigation stage one (5/10 | 5%), Minor Acid Mitigation stage ten (Max | 100%) "Interesting. Look Kazumi. There are also percentages now. There is even an infinite symbol too!" Vincent uttered in excitement. [Don't tell me you didn't see the other addon of the Inspection ability? Look, there is another one called Soul System.] "What... does this mean the system I can see is because of the inspection?" Vincent looked baffled. [I guess you acquired two abilities at the same time when you wanted to know Ester's name like a hormonal kid, hahaha.] Kazumi rolled on the emerald grass as she laughed at the embarrassing Vincent of the past. After she took a peek at his frown, Kazumi rolled a few more times as she laughed her soul out. [Haa... I should stop now before I lose control of my mana wisp body.] "Yeah. It about time I stop hearing someone laughing in my mind." Vincent frowned in embarrassment. No one would guess the Vincent of the past is the same Vincent in the present. [Ahem... I guess the system appeared because you learned Inspection and the ability needed to show you the result somehow. My theory is that the ability then mutated based on your knowledge of game information systems.] "So, does it mean the system also mutated as my progress evolved?" Vincent rubbed his chin as he thought of this idea. He wondered what the mutation could mutate in the future. [I think our conclusions could be the best one we can come up with.] Vincent and Kazumi talked about the different ideas both thought, but it didn't help them develop a better theory. As the time was trickling and his stomach rumble, Vincent decided to head for the yard, where a delicious smell entered his nose. Later, everyone ate until they couldn't anymore with a smile. Vincent asked to cook all the meat and told them how his special storage ability could keep the temperature of the meat. Yula didn't feel surprised anymore and told her sons to do as Vincent asked. She wondered how much the almost half boar they ate would be priced as the lockdown upped the food price. As the feast finished, Vincent stored the remaining cooked boar and the boar's pelt to tan it later. *Day 54 - Morning* On the next day, the breakfast of freshly cooked BBQ boar finely chopped, an egg and two scoops of potato mash smelled delicious. Even Vincent as a person from Earth didn't think Yula could balance the food in a way that it wasn't a forceful meal. The plate wasn't filled with a lot of food to digest easier. Breakfast should be simple, and the talented Yula managed to keep it simple yet delicious with an extra creamy sauce for easy digestion. On the other hand, Lenn and Renn praised Vincent through the heavens because they deemed Soul Dimensional Storage as the best convenience ability in the world. "Big sisters told me all about the very pretty place with flowers. Can I come with you today, big brother?" Tula said with a pair of puppy eyes. It was hard to say no to. However, Vincent wanted to turn in the Pomp Mushrooms for money. "How about Ester and Lupa play with you today? I want to go to the Adventurers Guild, and then I'll see what to do after that." Vincent shoved the excited childish Tula on his harem to take care of. "But I want to go with my mate." Lupa didn't like what she heard. However, she soon perked her ears from a few interesting words. "Teacher Lupa, please spar with us! We want to learn how to kill a boar with one swing." Both Lenn and Renn exclaimed at the same time. Lupa smirked while her ears twitched from excitement. Her tail hidden under the skirt also light wagged. "I accept to fight. You human copy pups will have to give your all. I will show you how I killed it." "Yes, teacher!" Lenn and Renn bowed after filling Lupa with praise and went to prepare their equipment. In the previous days, the twins asked Uncle Ben to buy a spiked wooden knuckle for Lupa. They wanted to fight Lupa without using real swords since her claws would cut their wooden swords in seconds. They learned their lesson about how sharp her claws could be. "Return if something happens. Please depend on us more." Ester looked a bit sad. Maybe because she continues to see Vincent suffer to become stronger, yet she can't help. It makes her feel so powerless and useless. "Don't worry. I'm only going to turn in some mushrooms for some coin and then return." Vincent replied with a reassuring voice. Then he got up and left. "Big sister Ester, Tula will protect you." Tula said, then she continued while petting Plow on the back, "You can feel safe like Plow." "Hahaha!" Suddenly, only Tula didn't laugh in the room at the hilarious declaration of protection. Even her mother couldn't hold back from a good laugh. Tula puffed her cheeks and became angry. "Stop laughing at me. Come Plow, let's leave these meanies and play alone, humph!" Tula lifted Plow and left in the yard. *Adventurer's Guildhall* Vincent entered the guildhall and noticed many people looking at the low-ranked quests on the quest board. 'No wonder only Lupa could find those plants, and everywhere we looked, only poisonous plants remained.' He pondered. [The Ponp Mushroom quest is still up. You better go and turn them in before some adventurers enter with a few of them. It feels like everyone wants to profit from a couple of weeks without foraging. Nature grows, and the human reaps. ] Vincent nodded and hurried to the guild receptionist girl. "Good day sir, may I help you?" The guild receptionist girl asked. "Yes, I would like to take the Ponp Mushroom quest as I have found some." Vincent took out a normal small bag and waved it as if its a Bag Of Holding and has the mushrooms inside. "Very well, sir, may I see your Adventurer's Guild Licence and wait while I bring in the document." She continued. Vincent handed the guild card and then received a small document with a list filled with many names of the people who took the mushroom quest. -Kazumi, I want to try something.- "I promise to bring you Pomp Mushrooms for this quest." Vincent suddenly promised out of the blue. The receptionist girl flustered after hearing an adventurer promise to complete an F Ranked quest. Furthermore, a rare adventurer with the Rising Star title. "Huh?... ok?" She blurted out. [Promised Quest: Find and bring Ponp Mushroom] [Complete the agreed promise by finding Ponp Mushroom. The promised item is commonly found in moldy environments of forest areas in the season of summer.] [Quest conditions to be met.] *Ponp Mushroom [1/1] (Met) [Optional] *Ponp Mushroom [6/1] (Met) [Rewards] *Perception stat +0 to +1 *20 copper coins for each promised item *Reputation - Adventurers Guild +1 "Well, then, the quest is now complete." Vincent opened the small bag in his hands and summoned the seven Ponp Mushrooms. The receptionist girl frowned slightly, but she thought it was a unique Bag Of Holding because Vincent had a family name, something only nobles can have. The Rising Star title icon behind his name made him a pretty special individual. "One, two... ok all seven Ponp Mushroom with the freshest condition ever registered in this quest." The receptionist girl said after she used an Inspection Gemstone. Then she wrote the amount Vincent brought and the state they were in. Probably to keep notice of who brought in a spoiled or rotten item for safety reasons. "Sir, please wait here for a moment. I need to bring you the reward and also give you the points for the quest completion." The receptionist girl picked the Ponp Mushrooms and left for the staff-only door. The same door where the VIP room and the testing hall were.

Fallout: Vault X
An original novel set in the Fallout universe, written to be accessible to all, featuring unique people and places. Vol.II. out now Fallout: Vault X tells the story of John. A vault dweller, who spent every day of his twenty five years underground. Like his father, and his father before him. Proud to live in the last remaining bastion of humanity, all that survived The Great War of the atomic age. Hidden deep below the surface of the earth, toiling under brutal conditions. Year after year, decade upon decade. All to expand into the natural cave system the Vault occupied, building for the future. However, John knew what his forefathers did not, that everything he’d been taught was a lie. After finishing school at the age of ten, John received his standard issue pipboy. An arm mounted personal computer, worn by everyone in the Vault. Used to coordinate the relentless pace of expansion, needed to work as an apprentice. To learn the craft that would be his life’s work. A noble calling to ensure a future for all that remained of the human race. A quirk of fate saw John equipped not with the crude, clunky, pipboy model his father wore. That almost everyone around him wore. His looked smaller, sleeker, finished in a jet black sheen. And capable of doing far more than its drab counterparts. The world above had been ravaged by atomic flames, yet life clung to its bones. The Red Valley fared better than most in the century since the bombs fell. The clean water and rich soil protected by rolling hills. All spared from direct strikes, for the most part. Life survived here. Trees spawned from charred ground, misshapen, green leaves turned red. Along with simple crops, grown wild at first, then cultivated by the survivors. The scavengers of the old world were inventive, hardy people. All determined to rebuild in the ruins of a world they never knew. In the decades that passed settlements emerged. They grew, spreading along the valley floor. Reclaiming the pre-war remnants of the once industrialised heartland. Salvaging the robotic wonders of a bygone age to build their walls and work their fields. To protect them in the dark of the wasteland. But such things are uncommon in this world, and the rarer something is, the greater its value. And the worth of pre-war technology had not gone unnoticed. The last, real, power in this world rested in the mechanised hands of The Brotherhood of Steel. Forged from the mortally wounded old world military. The Brotherhood used its access to the weapons made for a conflict no one won to strike out into the wastes. Men and women were equipped with advanced armour, aerial transportation, high grade weaponry. Accompanied by the training, strength, and will, to put them to use. They established chapters and set up outputs far and wide. All dedicated to a single purpose. To ensure the technology left abandoned by its long dead creators didn’t fall into the wrong hands. Namely, any hands that were not their own. This is the world John escaped into. A place of horrors brought forth from atomic fire. A place where survival meant battling against the darkness. Fighting a war each day to get to the next. And war...war never changes
