《Spaceship and Dragon》Chapter 15: Tale Of The Demon And The Witch
Advertisement
8 years of studying human psychology and 21 years of experience in working as a psychology doctor could not sufficiently prepare me for what happened.
"What?" I made a stupid sound. [What the hell are you all doing committing suicide?]
Everyone I had touched, even with a single claw, killed himself. Did I smell that bad?
[I tried to not kill you, you bunch of unreasonable bastards?]
We didn't have the habit of face-palming like the humans since we had claws, but I really wanted to dig them into my face now.
And then the dude who seemed like the leader grabbed the captive human girl he had with him. He unscrewed a tank on his back.
A red gas puffed out.
[Dark energy infused gas?]
I was so stunned by the sheer inexplicability of the situation that I forgot I was about to suffocate. And this guy was carrying the gas that I needed to breathe to stay alive.
And that guy, and that dead guy, about 50 in total. If I could steal the gas from them, I could stay alive for a few more days.
I needed to find the source of dark gas.
Something else happened that surprised me. The leader-looking guy had a tool that manipulated the dark energy in the gas to levitate a sword on top of the poor captive woman's head.
So, humans on this planet knew how to command dark energy even in medieval time. It was probably because of the rich dark energy content of the planet, it's easier to discover a technology related to a matter if there is so much of it.
[But if a planet has so much condensed dark energy ore, why doesn't the atmosphere have dark gas? Doesn't this planet have volcanic activities?]

The dude was shouting something. He looked like he was threatening. With the sword above the woman's head, it looked like he was holding the woman hostage.
Um, what does a human woman have to do with me?
I fought the urge to raise a hand and ask the guy. He wouldn't understand me anyway.
He smirked. Dude seemed pleased of the stupid solution he invented.
This entire crowd shared a single neuron as their collective intelligence or something.
I am so done with these humans. To hell with morality and harmony of the species.
I grabbed a dead guy on the ground and threw the corpse with half my strength. Sorry, you levitated the sword a bit too high.
Before the sword reached the woman, the corpse had pushed both of them away from the pointy object.
I sprinted and reached them in a few seconds. I ripped the guy's head off and threw it at the next guy with a dark gas tank.
It had been a long time since I had killed. As per the words of a famous human, if you make a psychology doctor angry, you'd better run.
[Ah, but I'm not angry, I'm just disappointed.]
Irrelevant thoughts appeared in my head as I decapitated the one that was holding a severed head in horror.
[Very disappointed.]
And I threw the new head to the next guy.
***
Since I wasn't killing someone of my own species, the killing was easier.
Like it was 45 years ago.
After I killed the last guy with an air tank, I stopped, looked at the rest, and smiled.
I had heard that my species had a terrifying smile. "The Hannibal smile." They said. Not that I knew who that was.
I hissed to give a better result. Yes, the result was good. That guy urinated himself. Urgh, that guy crapped himself. A bit too good.

They ran in every direction like chickens without heads. A few moments later, blissful silence came again. I was sure they wouldn't cause any problem with the crew after my mind-throwing performance, so I did not chase after them.
I collected the gas tanks from the corpses. Not until it was the turn of the leader guy that I was reminded of the female human.
Poor girl. She was staying still among the corpses and even held her breath. She seemed to have been treated harshly. She had a big collar on her neck. Was she a slave?
What do I do with the girl now? It doesn't feel right to just walk away.
I scratched my head and walked up to the girl pretending to be a corpse. Before she could react, I grabbed the collar on her neck and broke it.
The girl instantly dropped her act and retreated on her butt. She touched her neck with her hands then looked at me, wide-eyed.
Oh, now you're trying to run. I'm starting to feel offended.
She forgot that she was still tied to a four-legged creature. She tried to pull it, but it refused to move.
Then I saw something amazing.
The girl did something, her hand lighted up. The rope that was tied to her hands just moved through the girl's limbs like they were illusions.
Dimensional displacement? Without any dark energy manipulator? Are you kidding me?
There were so many strange things about this planet.
I sat there as she ran away. Then I walked up to the four-legged creature, gently touching its head.
[Bless your naive non-discriminating heart.] I thought to myself. [It would be better if the Alexa Corporation port master was you.]
The creature was beautiful. Black hair ran along its brown body. Its legs were squirming with muscles like four pillars piercing the earth.
"Are you strong enough to carry 50 air tanks?" I asked the creature.
The creature did not understand me. But for a moment, I thought I saw fear in its eyes.
***
After tying half the gas tanks to the four-legged creatures and the rest to my body with two ropes made from clothes of the dead, I waved at a spot in the wood.
"If you want to come along, come on out."
No one replied.
[Stay then, racist woman.] I no longer paid any attention to her.
I had decided, I would not find my crews. Not yet, anyway. My appearance would hinder them in this backward world. I needed to find a way to survive, by myself.
I set out towards the wilderness. Then, I heard small footsteps, cautiously following me.
Well, maybe with a companion.
