《Torn World》The Battles for the Future. Part V

"And the winners are... Team Joey and Bree with the easy victory!"
Loud yelling and horns erupted throughout the stadium as the two stand over their defeated foes with confidence. Their opponents never truly recovered from the last match and were forced to fight at half power, making it an easy win with one punch from Joey and one Ice Spike from Bree. The two foes were both some sort of paladins and their armor shone brilliantly in the sunlight, except for when they fell to the ground due to Joey and Bree's attacks. Joey felt bad for dirtying such expensive looking armor but Joey figured he did what had to be done. They left the arena and found out there would be no more fights for today and since the sun would be setting soon, they headed back to where everyone was staying.
The Inn is busier than it was before but Joey and Bree manage to make their way back to their room before encountering Nathan. He had a towel over his shoulder and he seemed to be heading to one of the hot springs the Inn offers. Bree goes on ahead as Joey stops Nathan in the hallway.
"Hey, Nathan, you alright man?" Joey asks.
"Yeah, I'm good, why?" Nathan responds in a confused manner. Joey doesn't want to brush off the fact that one of his greatest friends is down emotionally and Joey is going to help Nathan however he can.
"Come on, you can tell me. I know something is wrong."
"Fine, just that fight with the dolls messed me up a bit you know. Everything has really, I mean look at us." Nathan points to his eye patch and then points to Joey's plate armor.
"None of us could've prepared for this. I took us on this vacation, I got us in this mess. I've felt that way for a while and it just-."
"Look Nathan. This is not your fault, no one could know this was going to happen and as long as we have each other, we will be fine. Also, about the dolls, I'll find that sick son of a bitch and when I do, he won't like it."
Joey says this as he puts a hand on Nathan's shoulder to reassure him. Nathan laughs a little and realizes that Joey is right. With a new boost in his confidence and his conscience cleared, Nathan puts on a hearty smile.
"Thanks Joey."
"No problem man."
Nathan gives Joey a high five and continues towards the hot springs, whereas Joey continues his way back to his room. Nathan gets done with the hot springs and leaves in around 30 minutes, walking back to his room slowly while enjoying the art that covers the walls. This Inn is extremely fancy but what would be less expected for a place for a Princess and her guards. The art ranges from trees to deadly battles and Nathan seems to appreciate them all equally.

What he doesn't appreciate are all the stares that he is receiving when walking down the hallways. Everyone else here seems to be nobles and they all stare at Nathan like he is a peasant. Not from the fact that he is a demon but from the fact he lacks to etiquette to be royalty so he must be an adventurer in their eyes.
'Sure I slouch and I don't care about how I look in public but come on people, I'm human too... Kinda.'
Shaking his head in disbelief at how rude some people are, Nathan decides he should hurry up to his room and go to bed. It is just now sundown but from the exhaustion he has received from today, he can feel himself falling asleep already. He finally makes his way back to the room and instantly crashes onto his bed, going into a blissful sleep, but not before locking his door first.
Tanner, on the other hand, has decided to stay up as late as possible, continuing to read his books about the history of the world, how to enchant, and he is even touching up in some of the different languages of the world. As he flips through from page to page, he can hear a knock at his door. He lets out a puff of disappointment since he has to put down his book but nonetheless, he still gets up and answers the door.
Tanner opens the door to find Catia, standing there in casual clothes with a distraught look on her face. Sensing that something was wrong, Tanner invites Catia into his room and lets her have a seat at the table. He gets her a cup of water and then sits down across from her.
"So what's up?"
"I need your advice?"
"Ok, and what's that."
"What does Nathan... Like in a girl?"
Tanner takes a second to think about his response since he could go about it in a joking matter but this situation could turn serious so he approaches it honestly.
"I remember him saying he looks for loyalty the most. I mean if you are looking to date him then just go for it. That is all I have to say."
Catia's face turns a little red and her ears flick up and down.
"Do you think I have a chance?"
Tanner just laughs and nods his head up and down. Catia, now reassured, has a new face of confidence, but Tanner could see something inside of her expression. It looks like a tinge of regret and fear but he just plays it off like he hadn't seen anything. Tanner gets up and opens the door.

"You should probably leave now before Niki shows up and gets the wrong idea."
Catia accepts this since she doesn't want to get on the princess's bad side and she leaves the room hastily. Tanner goes back to reading his book and Niki does show up about 30 minutes later, asking to sleep in the same bed as Tanner again, which he accepts. They climb into bed and Niki falls asleep with her back to Tanner while Tanner continues to read further and further into the night, losing himself in the history of this new world.
Morning arrives and Tanner is the first to get up, even though he was the last one to fall asleep. He puts on his armor and his overcoat and goes to wake Niki up. She lets out a small yawn and stretches her arms out. She smiles when she sees Tanner and gets up out of bed. She thanks Tanner for the good night of rest together and goes back to her own room to put on her clothes for the day since she is still wearing her silk pajamas. Tanner takes the time to inspect his sword and shield to make sure it is in top condition.
He had found out that the sword heals the wielder's slight injuries and figured that this sword is probably fairly rare and there is no use in letting it break due to poor attention from the owner. He checks for any chips or if any part of the blade is getting dull and he finds none. Same with his shield and he figures that he is ready to go wake Nathan up. Walking through the hallway Tanner can feel the hairs on his neck rising as the people he walks past seem to be staring at him intensely.
'Meh, whatever.'
Tanner continues his way down towards Nathan's room and soon arrives. He knocks on the door and is surprised when the door opens with the first knock. Knowing that something might be wrong, Tanner grabs the hilt of his sword on his waist and walks into the room cautiously. Nathan is sleeping on the bed and nothing seems to be wrong with the room. Confused on why the door just opened, Tanner decides that Nathan was just an idiot and forgot to close the door.
"Hey idiot, wake up."
Nathan, who is stomach down on the bed, shoots upwards and looks at Tanner with a puzzled expression and with drool on his face.
"How did you get in here?"
"You forgot to close the door. It opened when I knocked on it."
Nathan's eyebrows furrow together as he swears he locked his door before he went to sleep but he shrugs it off and gets out of bed. While Nathan is in the walk-in closet, putting on his armor and weapons, Tanner walks around the room and looks around. It looks the same as his but Nathan's room has a few slight differences. Not too much longer later, Nathan appears from the closet and is ready to go to breakfast. They both leave the room and Nathan makes sure to lock it this time while putting the key inside of his pouch. They walk down the hallway and make their way to the small cafeteria that the Inn has to offer.
There is a breakfast bar and Nathan and Tanner are the only ones in the room so they dig in. After a while, Joey and Bree enter the room and grab their own breakfast, followed by Niki. All 5 of them sit at the table and have small talk while eating their own different variants of food. Even though everything is calm on the outside, everyone is freaking out on the inside. Everyone's last 3 matches will be today and if both teams win their division, then they must fight each other. The conversations comes up if this situation becomes reality.
"Personally, I think Nathan and I would just give up and let you guys win." Tanner says while stuffing the rest of his biscuit in his mouth.
"Now Tanner, you can't do that. We all need to fight seriously so we can learn each other's strengths and weaknesses. Wouldn't you agree Nathan?"
"Sure, why not? It'll be your loss, Joey."
"Really?" Joey says while laughing audibly. Nathan joins him with a small chuckle and Tanner just shakes his head. Bree is also laughing with Joey since she knows Nathan is just messing around. They finish their breakfasts and both teams part their seperate ways with Niki going with Team Turncoat.

Savage Hunters
Giant monsters roam the land Civilization is frozen in a savage age. For the beast slayer Alden, power and survival are one and the same. When Alden takes possession of a cursed sword promising untold power, the hunter is determined to save his people by slaying every giant monster standing between him and the throne. But the angry ghost trapped inside the blade has other ideas. Buckle up for the brutal LitRPG ride of a lifetime Savage Hunters is an alternate-world neolothic fantasy. Characters grow their powers with explicit stat blocks presented right in the text, including levels, attribute scores, and unlockable skill trees. Experience is accumulated by battling enormous monsters the size of buildings. Political intrigue and romance elements ramp up as the series progresses. I originally wrote this story after playing Monster Hunter with my niece. She was 12 at the time, already an avid reader, and wanted to read my other published books. I'm a licensed psychotherapist specializing in severe trauma so I tend toward darker fiction. I told her my usual books are too brutal for her but I'd write her something special. The result was this series, which has been praised by both teens and adults for its depth and universal appeal. It begins with an emphasis on cultural elements because I consulted with a trained anthropologist to craft this neolithic setting down to exacting social detail. After these opening chapters, it rapidly shifts to an action-packed adventure. The first 3 books are fully written as of November 2020, totalling approximately 69 chapters. The first book has been professionally edited already. The following two books require some editing which I'll do on a chapter-by-chapter basis as releases progress. I welcome reviews and comments. Writing is a passion, and reader engagement makes my labor all the sweeter.

The Bronze Players of Recreation
The world of Creation has seen a recent explosion of what can only be called an adventurer’s culture over the past few decades. People who were once looked at as nothing more than lower class mercenaries rose to the ranks of heroes and legends as adventuring became recognized as an idealized lifestyle of overcoming hardship and finding triumph. With the establishment of a guild-based government system on the continent of Terramania, adventurers were soon legitimized and adventuring became a phenomenon universally accepted around the world. Redlette had retreated from this world to live on Earth for the remainder of her years, having been born and outcast by the gods of Creation. However, upon meeting a friend that she treasured dearly, she found herself longing for a return to her world—she wanted to experience it properly and go on adventures with someone whom she holds dear. Putting a plan into action, she meets with her friend, an awkward, nerdy boy by the username of Herring who she’d only known through years of playing online games with him, and invites him to go on this fantastic adventure with her. An adventure in another world had always been an impossible dream for Herring, but when he suddenly found himself with the opportunity to embark on one, he knew it wouldn’t be as simple as books and shows made it out to be. Redlette was notorious for rushing into things without thinking them through, and he was flighty and weak. In the games they played together, they rarely grasped victory. They were losers through and through, both in hobby and life. Despite this, though, he takes the leap and sets off with Redlette into the world of Creation. Together they only had one goal: to have fun and go on the adventure of their lives. This time, they’d establish a guild of their own and be free to take on whatever exploits their hearts desired. This is the story of the founding of their guild. Author’s Notes: -My writing style is largely based off of the absurd amount of light novels I’ve read and anime I’ve watched, so it may come off as cartoonish or exaggerative at times. If that isn’t your thing, I’d steer clear of this story.-Not an MMO story.-No numerical stats.-Relatively slow pacing.-Posts are between 2000-5000 words weekly after Chapter 1.
