《Torn World》The Battles for the Future. Part I

Captain Erik and his most promising pupil Private Manwell had decided to enter the tournament. Erik thought it would be good practice for his pupil and he knew they would make it far into the tournament. They might not be made Commanders but that's not the goal.
"This one will be easy, right Captian? I mean just look at them."
Captain Erik has been looking at them since they have entered but he isn't sure about them.
"The tall one seems to have been in a few fights since he is missing an eye or he has a special ability. The other one seems to be disinterested and probably doesn't want to be here. This should be a breeze."
The two look at each other and nod their heads. The Emperor throws his hand down and the fight begins. Private Manwell goes for the first hit and closes the distance between him and his opponents at an exceptional speed. He gets about 20 feet away from the two and pulls out his halberd. He is 10 feet away and they have still yet to move.
"Too scared to move huh?!"
Manwell screams this as loud as possible to further instill fear into his opponents but what he mistook for fear was confidence. He makes a quick horizontal slash with his halberd towards the tall one but he vanishes completely from sight. Manwell recovers from his miss though and turns to do a spin attack on Tanner. Tanner easily blocks this and sends Manwell's halberd backwards.
Manwell tries to recover from this but Tanner delivers a swift counter-attack by punching him in the gut. For how weak Tanner looks the punch he landed sends Manwell back about 5 feet. Manwell managed to flex hard enough to basically block the attack but it still injured him some. He decides that these enemies are actually worth facing and decides to go all out. He just made it to level 15 so this should be no big deal.

He throws the halberd at Tanner with all of his might. Tanner just uses his shield and brushes it off like it was nothing but Manwell used this to close the distance between them once more. Manwell is specialized in hand to hand combat so this should be easy.
"Divine Light."
A sudden burst of light erupts from within Tanner and blinds everyone inside the arena, including the Emperor. Using this sudden flash of light, Tanner puts his shield directly into Manwell's face. The force from the hit shatters Manwell's nose and once again sends him flying.
After rolling on the ground a few times, from the impact, Manwell is able to stop himself. He looks back to where Captain Erik is at but he is no longer there. After looking around for a little bit he finally can see his Captian on the ground and covered with gashes all over his body. Standing over him is Nathan with the sharp tips of his gauntlets covered in blood.
Manwell shakes his head and can feel he is getting ready to pass out from the pain. Blood is streaming from his nose and he can feel some teeth are missing.
"Why are there monsters in the tournament?"
A blow is delivered to the back of Manwell's head. It was a powerful kick that knocked him out instantly. With this being done, the crowd erupts in a fit of cheers and horns begin to play. Team Turncoat had won its first battle.
On Joey and Brees side, their fight was about to start as well. The area had 2 arenas, one for each division. Joey and Bree were up against 2 adventures that went in for just fun. The Emperor wasn't here since he was at the Red Divison's fights, apparently, that was the division for the strong people and the group didn't know this until they had already signed up into their divisions. The person that started the games in place of The Emperor was his childhood friend and General. He throws his hand down and the match begins!

One of their opponents was a woman who was inside the Ranger class type. She fought like a rogue but had the extra abilities to track people or things down. Her partner was a Magic Caster that used fire enchantments to help out his partner and to also turn his foes into ashes. They wanted to make the first move but Joey was much faster than they thought.
Unlike Tanner and Nathan, who had decided to hide their best abilities till they were needed, Joey figured he would go all out just in case of extremely strong opponents. The only thing they plan on hiding till needed is Bree's healing abilities.
Joey rushes towards the two adventures with extreme speed and readies to deliver the first blow. The Magic Caster starts to cast a spell to try to burn Joey before he arrives but a strong force hits him on the side. His partner had shoved him out of the way and took an Ice Spike to the shoulder.
She screamed with pain as the 2 foot long Ice Spike was sent at an intense speed and has immobilized her right arm. Bree had sent this but it was nonlethal as she purposely tried to miss any vital parts of the body.
The Magic Caster got up from being pushed and held his friend up from falling due to the pain. As he goes to pull out the Ice Spike his face meets an explosive power that knocks him out instantly. Joey hadn't even used any abilities but Magic Casters don't have good Physical Defense to begin with. With the Magic Caster knocked out Joey goes to quickly do the same to the ranger but she seems to have disappeared.
Joey turns around to see the ranger had made her way to Bree with great speed and held her dagger towards Bree's chest. An intense look of bloodlust was in her eyes as she wanted revenge for her arm and her partner. Bree just shook her head and laughed at the ranger.
"What's so funny? I will kill you!"
"Look around you."
The ranger looks around to see 5 Ice Spikes hovering above her. The bloodlust in her eyes instantly turned into fear as she can still feel the ungodly pain in her arm and she begins to imagine what these ones could do if sent at her. She can't dodge because they are so close but she has one final trick up her sleeve. She throws down a smoke bomb and goes straight for Bree's heart.
She stabs with her dagger where Bree was but meets something incredibly hard. As the smoke clears, Joey stands there with his arms in an X to block the dagger. The ranger could only let out a small squeal as she could see Joey go into a fighting stance. Before she could react further Joey punches her in the gut and the ranger is sent into the wall of the arena.
A small dent is put into the stone wall and the ranger slowly slides off of it. Horns blare throughout the whole arena and the crowd begins cheering loudly. Joey and Bree had also won their first match.

Return of Chaos
For the longest time, it was thought that the citizens of Earth were the only denizens of the galaxy incapable of developing superhuman abilities — but recent events have flipped that assumption on its head. Between Austin Travis, Mote Emerson, Pierce Bradley, and their friends, Earth is now host to 12 Chaotics… as well as a myriad of mysteries surrounding them. From a new nemesis in the form of a clone, to connections to ancient technology from a long-lost civilization, to the ability to summon powerful legendary weapons, these 12 Chaotics have unknowingly become entangled in something larger than any of them have ever imagined. As if in response to these discoveries, the sinister machinations of galactic evil are churning. The metallic infection, a calamitous nanotechnology “disease” thought to have been vanquished 20 years ago, is slowly returning — and alongside it, a number of conflicts thought to be long past. While they only seek to better grasp their own abilities, Earth’s Chaotics will soon find themselves in the crossfire of returning threats and old heroes. These superpowered Earthians may not have chosen this path through life, but it will still be up to them to determine if history remembers them — to determine if history remembers the saga of the Keys. Return of Chaos is a direct sequel to Chosen Chaos, which begins the Key Saga novel series. Be sure to read Chosen Chaos first, to understand the plot and the characters thus far! Additionally, the Key Saga as a whole takes place 20 years after Rise. You will not need to read Rise to understand the events of Return of Chaos, however the latter will spoil many of the events that occurred in Rise, due to the simple chronology of taking place later in the timeline.
