《Spread of Chaos》Ch 1 - Chaos Kidnapping

Leon slowed his walk to class. As always his enthusiasm for school falling at the last moment, and as always, the cause was Billy Baker and his crew of unlovable misfits. Still, today was a little different, he wasn't the same Leon from yesterday. It was all he could do to keep a big stupid grin off his face.
All year Samantha White had been throwing him apologetic looks whenever Billy and his boys tried to get rough with him. Eventually, those looks had turned into light touches on the shoulder, secret smiles just for him and finally a bold declaration of her love.
Well, that last part wasn't true, but it might well have been. Despite being a popular cheerleader and Billy's girlfriend, she asked Leon to help her study and for the last two weeks, he had. The flirting had been heavy and finally, Leon decided to risk it and ask her out. To which she said yes. That was yesterday.
Billy gave him a knowing smirk as he squeezed into the classroom, but Leon was too preoccupied to pay that tool much attention. Samantha and he were keeping their newfound love a secret, but eventually, he was going to get to spring it on Billy and he just couldn't wait to see the look on his face! Deciding now was as good a time as any to discuss it some more with Samantha, he started to walk over to her seat when the world stopped.
With a bright flash, Leon found himself and two other students from the class floating in a white space that seems to go on for infinity.
"Hello champions!" a jovial voice rings out from the void. It sounds like it is made up of many men and women speaking at the same time.

"Who's there!?" Chis Mackey yells out at the same time Lisa Duwal ask, "Where are we!?"
Leon tries not to panic waiting to see if the voice will answer, though, his preferred question would have been, 'What's happening?'
"I am the god Chaos, a god of darkness, luck, and wisdom, among other concepts. You are in the space between worlds and what is happening," Leon feels the smirk, "is that you are being forced to accept an opportunity. And also kidnapped, I really feel like I shouldn't leave out the kidnapping."
There is a slight pause as the three students process what they just heard. Then that pause gives way to semi-coherent demands to let them go and threats to call the police. Leon, on the other hand, thinks at the voice, 'You can obviously read minds, what is this opportunity?'
"Oh, you don't want to go home like the others? Only you can hear this, so feel free to be honest." Chaos replies.
"If you are going to return us then, yes, I'd like to go home, but I don't see why you would have gone through this trouble if that was the case."
Chaos laughs, then the student find themselves looking at the silhouette of a person, man or woman impossible to tell.
"Listen up kiddies, time is short and not under my domain! The guardians of your world sold your souls to my pantheon, that makes you mine and nonrefundable. As I only manage to get three of you, I'm not in the best of moods, so mind your manners!"
Chris and Lisa shut up quickly and stare at the shadow being with wide eyes.
"Good! Now I'll make a deal with you, if you accomplish the task I give you, I'll have no need of you so, I may be inclined to send you back if you do an admirable job."

Chaos splits into three and each of the shadow being approach one of the students.
"Private conversation time," The shadow facing Leon says. "I need you to reestablish my power and influence in the world you are being sent to. The others will have their own tasks, and as I got so few of you, you'll be working alone. "
Leon tries to ask questions but is stopped with a finger on his lips.
"You will have access to some of my power in exchange for giving me access to something valuable of yours. In your case, I will take... hmm, yes, this lust slash love you have for the girl Samantha. Love is powerful and its power will aid me greatly."
"The other five gods are much stronger than I, so trust no one, even allies. I gift you this," Chaos held up a cheap looking copper ring. "First chance you get spill your blood upon it. Now sign this."
A quill and parchment appear between the two. Chaos hurriedly grabs the feather pen and jabs it into his shadow thumb. Quickly signing the document which Leon can see is a contract. He continues to speak as he passes Leon the pen.
"Accomplish your task by spreading my name, or yours, any way you want, so long as the people beg for my favor or my mercy, my power will grow. Make chaos known to them again!"
Leon skims the few lines of the contract, which agree with what the god as thus far said. For exclusive use of the power of his love for Samantha, he will be blessed with the favor of the god Chaos, including but not limiting to, accelerated experience gain, elevated starting stats and a God tier, soul-bound item. Despite the many questions he has, Leon jabs his thumb and signs the contract. True it could be some sort of trap, but a god, even a weak one, surely wouldn't need to go through something this elaborate for one teenage mortal soul.
"Now what?" Leon asks. The contract turns into motes of dark light, half flies into Chaos and the other half into Leon.
"Now, my time is up, and now you survive at all cost and now you don't betray me. You don't want Chaos for an enemy, after all."
With that Chaos disappears. Before Chris, Lisa or Leon have a chance to talk about what just happened with each other, the already bright space becomes brighter, blinding in fact. As the light become painful, even through closed eyelids, Gravity returns.
As Leon picks himself up off the grass, he notes that while gravity and fresh air might have returned, the students' classroom did not. 'Perhaps', he thinks, 'those men in the hooded robes can tell us where it went.'

Dungeon Scholar
Girl meets dungeon. What could go right? A story of a good-hearted Scholar driven by her compassion and curiosity. She might be a little combat averse, but um, isn't that only logical? Love me a good grimdark, but sometimes I want to read feel-good fiction that isn't pure action, romance, or comedy. The plot and characters of Dungeon Scholar won't be all happy and fluffy, and the world will be more dungeons and monsters than rainbows and puppies, but overall the sweet moments should overshadow the bitter. Let's say three dollops of sugar for every pinch of salt, with lemon slices left on the saucers? Enjoy. Note: This is NOT a typical dungeon story. If you are here for the dungeon aspect, then fair warning this will seem incredibly slow-burn to you. The dungeon will eventually become the most important 'character,' arguably, or the second-most important narratively, but you might jump out the window in frustration long before that happens. At its heart, the story's core remains 'girl meets dungeon,' not 'dungeon meets world.' (To be clear, this does or will have a plot! It's just the more conventional story-like elements contribute to Rowena Loress's greater story, not the other way around; no conflict takes center stage until it becomes personally significant to her. 8 105The Third Spire
It has been decades since the Wizardly Order rose and helped the Realm to banish the monstruos Elfey from its lands by building the Five Spires. The kingdom has prospered greatly in the time since, advancing both in the magical arts and the more mundane technology. The Wizards have grown too, gaining influence and spreading throught the Realm, Wizards' Towers dotting the landscape on many regions. But as the Realm grows and starts looking beyond its borders, the Wizards are faced with one insidious enemy inside its own borders. Master Garner, a wizard in the scarcely populated far West of the Realm, feels the situation getting out of hand, and a violent purge forces him out of his beloved Tower. The wizard takes his apprentices and allies in search of uncertain safety in the Third Spire. Some sources of inspiration for this story, for variable reasons: Riyria Chronicles, The Wandering Inn, Gentleman Bastard series. Note: First dedicated attempt at writing. I'm looking for feedback, and I will appreciate if you point out any mistakes. Updates: Tuesday, and every other Thursday, as life allows it.
