《Legend of the Evil Hero》Chapter 12: Ryuji's Battle Party [Fall of Aldebaran: Part 4]

“You’re the summoned—” the crimson heroine said while her shot opened eyes are directed straight on me.
The zircon tier adventurer that she fought with side by side is the actual summoned hero, and that hero despite his four days on this world was already capable of using max tier magic. Of course it was normal that she was surprised due to sudden change of events such as those.
“Yes I am. Please don’t tell anyone about that, Okay?” I forced a smile while my gaze locked at the crimson-haired girl on the ground.
[What am I even saying? I’m pretty sure my identity as summoned hero will spread like a wildfire in any minutes or so from now on.]
The pure white light that completely covered my body for almost a minute left bit by bit. My gray colored breast plate as well as the single white left-shoulder cap on me appeared once again. But the bits of the divine light never leaves the blood and guts soaked rapier.
I tried to test my enhanced mobility and started running as soon as I averted gazing on Renia. But something is not right, every time I move I feel like the time suddenly slow. Or [Is it me that is fast?]
The magic on this world feel so assuring, the body enhancement that I casted a while ago boost my speed by making my body a lot lighter and give me an immense pain tolerance or that’s what I red according to Chiyo’s book.
[I am lucky because the one that I read is the Holy Property which is the best magic against demons. I mean, that’s a common thing!]
I reached about 25 meters more or less in just five seconds away from Renia. But something has made me stop, something that blocks my path towards that gigantic demon. A large part of the east meadows near the northern pathway is on large fire.
I have a feeling that even though my body is enhanced with holy property those fire will burn me to ashes as soon as I step on it. The smell of burning flesh of the monsters that caught by it, lingers in the tall grasses along with the shinning wild fire. [Maybe the fire was made with magic…]
[I need to find a better route.]
I scanned the surroundings around me, and then something caught my sight. It was the gate where the adventurers that is fleeting from the city came out. I am surprise to know that the onslaught has led me and Renia here in the southern part of the city. [This is bad. That demon might have entered the city by now…]

Those events leave me no choice but to enter the city through south gate and confront the demon inside the city head on.
“Tch. I need to hurry up.”
I sucked my teeth before dash out again, this time not towards the burning east meadows but towards the south gate.
~~~
—A high tier demon is advancing through the east gate.
The townspeople panicked upon hearing that news. But some of them didn’t bothered by it because goblins, kobolds, and orcs are already seizing the city.
The supposedly shinning and twinkling lamps from the houses in the city was now scattered on the ground. Some was broken others was lying on the ground and continuously being stomped and stomped by different races evil or not.
It was almost dawn when the red-haired boy reached the southern part of the fortress.
~~~
When I entered the long south gate tunnel, the echoing cries of townspeople hit my ears. Those cries made me stopped running but rather it made me walk slowly towards the mouth of the tunnel. Cold sweat run down on my face, I tried my best to control the trembling on my hand. There was an orange dim light in the end of the tunnel.
The next thing that appeared on my vision really sends a cold that run down on my spine. The orange dim light was actually fire that engulfs the houses. And the cries comes from the townspeople on the ground being violated, eaten, or beaten up by the monsters.
“…Since when did they…” I muttered silently while eyes focused on the chaos.
[I thought that the attack was only coming from the east side… but why? Why are they already here? ]
I slowly placed both of my trembling hand over my face in order to think things over again.
First, low to middle tier monsters appeared on the east side to where the defense is lowest because most of the adventurers and army were on the west side. Next, because of that turmoil the remaining army was forced to focus on the east side and leave the other gates unguarded, and then, kobold leaders and hobgoblins appeared to take down most of the members of the defense team on east and lastly, when the defense force is gone and the south and north gate was breached, all that is left is to wipe out the entire city by the help of that huge demon.
Those sequence of events made it clear to me now.
It may have been just four days since I arrive here but I will not let this demons to destroy the city that I cherish. Also Lily and the others, I will not let them to get killed.

[I need to kill every single one of them.] I don’t know why but I never felt anything when I’m slaying a demon even my own conscience tells me that it was the right thing to do.
Slowly my hand revealed the cyan colored eyes that is clearly saying. “…This war has just begun…”
I focused my attention once again to reactivate the enhancement magic that I casted earlier. And in response, Renia’s rapier that is lying on my left hand slowly shined white again. The light on the sword became brighter and brighter until the monsters who was occupied by their evil acts noticed the white light that is coming from the mouth of the tunnel of the south gate.
Kobolds, Goblins, and Orcs all attention focused on a single adventurer began their attack at the same time.
I prepared for the impact of the monsters by improving my stance onto an appropriate one.
“““ROOAAAGGGRRRR””” the screams of the different monsters seemed to be united at the time they all attack one target.
But even before the white rapier and the crude weapons made their contact, countless arrows flown from behind of the monsters straightly going on their body. And in just a blink of an eye the group the monsters stopped before falling into the ground.
I looked to the direction of where the arrows came from. I was stunned immediately when my sight met the girl standing on the roof of the house.
“Need some help?” the ranger said while smiling.
Her brown hair that flows along with the air wasn’t on its usual braid, her greenish brown eyes that both focused on me makes me feel the happiness and warmth on it. At that time it was like Lily was like a goddess in form of a human.
She smiled at me before jumping from top of the roof and fall straight to the cart of hay that was lying on the bottom of the house. Upon landing on it the hay didn’t even move as it clearly showing her weight.
I walked towards the cart of hay, when I was about a meter away from it the girl jump and embrace me immediately.
“YUUJJIII, thank goodness you’re safe!” she said while hiding her face on my shoulder.
“Yeah. You too.” I hold lily in response to her.
[Come to think of it. This was my first time holding a girl on my arm.] Her body feels so warm and soft. [I don’t want to lose her again…]
I slightly move my head for my nose to reach her hair. “How do you know I was here?” I said in a usual low-pitched voice.
“I know this one thing about you.—Lily looked at me on the face and with her teary eyes she did her best to lock gaze on me. She continued with—“you always go whenever there are peoples in danger.”
I don’t know how she build her thought about that but her words delivered straight to my heart penetrating my soul. It was at this moment when I realized that my great hatred towards humanity was blinded by her.
I smiled at her and loose the grip of my arm.
“Don’t worry, I don’t have plan on abandoning everyone here, I’ll exterminate every demons and we will rebuild this city.”
“Yeah! Oh and remember the girls that we save from the canyon?”
“Hm?”
“Look” Lily pointed her hand on the roof of the houses to our side.
In the roof several figures was standing.
I try to get a clearer view of the figures, I weak smile appeared on my lips when I recognized that those figures was the girls that we saved from the canyon. There was a fighter, sorcerer, ranger, swordsman, and even crusader among them.
“and you know what?” Liliana said with full confidence.
“What?”
“We all decided to call ourselves as Ryuji’s battle party!”
“Is that so?”
“Yes! So please lead you party!”
“I will.— I inhaled deeply and exhale. Then continue with—“Now as for our first quest! Slay the huge demon and protect this city at all cost!” I tried my best to sound as mighty as possible.
“““YES!!””” they all replied in unison.
Followed by a group of monsters from the south gate. One by one the girls on the roof jumped and gathered near me and Lily.
I took a gaze on Liliana then our gazes met again. She hold my hand and said. “Let’s do this!”
I shook my head and force a smile in reply.
[What the heck just happened? Now I have a party without even knowing anything about it.]
~~~
In the distance of the south gate, all that can be heard was the sound of different weapons that met its target followed by the death cry of the unfortunate demons.
A figure concealed in a cloak was watching the red-haired boy in the darkness of the night.
