Chapter 8
In future historical annals, this week would be known as “The week when the forest awoke”.
Erik was overseeing the progress of blasting the shit out of the forest. Every day the engineers would plant explosives and clear out strips of forest. And everything that was left over would be used to fortify the base. A small palisade sprouted around the perimeter of the base. Tanks were used to transport tree trunks to the construction sites.
The walls were three meters high and directly overlooked the tank traps covered with barbed wires. Any enemy who wanted climb over them would get cut into pieces. And if that somehow wasn’t enough, there were machine guns covering all directions and trenches dug up for cover.
But before all of that they had to somehow first survive profuse amounts of gun fire and even tank fire.
Erik currently owned only five tanks. One was his own personal command tank. The monstrous Tiger II also known as King Tiger. Despite weighing almost 70 tonnes it reached a road speed of 41 km/h and a cross country speed of 20 km/h with the help of its V/12 Maybach engine. And with the help of the deadly and accurate 8.8 cm KwK 43 L/71 gun, it could reach targets even beyond 2000 meters. It was a truly fitting vehicle for a commander.
The other four tanks were Panthers. The Panthers were intended to counter the Soviet T/34s but now they had a new role. They weighed 45 tonnes and reached a top speed of 46 km/h.
The main gun was a Rheinmetall-Borsig 7.5 cm KwK 42 (L/70), one of the most powerful guns of WW2 due to the large propellant charge and the long barrel, which gave it a very high muzzle velocity and excellent armour-piercing qualities even better than the Tiger's 8.8 cm gun.

Also there were the four AA tanks. The Flakpanzer IV "Ostwind" was a self-propelled anti-aircraft gun based on the Panzer IV tank. The Panzer IV's turret was removed and replaced with an open-top, hexagonal turret which housed a 3.7 cm FlaK 43. In addition to its intended role as an anti-aircraft weapon, the fast-firing gun was highly effective against light vehicles and minor fortifications.
Then there were the four Puma reconnaissance vehicles. They were hard-hitting wheeled reconnaissance vehicles armed with a 5cm L/60 gun. With their 220 hp engines they could reach speeds of 80 and 60 km/h on and off road.
The remaining twenty-four half-tracks were the SdKfz. 251, of which four were used as mortar platforms and the remaining twenty for transport. The Sonderkraftfahrzeug 251 half-track was an armored fighting vehicle was designed to transport soldiers into battle. The standard mounting of at least one machine gun allowed the vehicle to provide support by fire for the infantry squad once they had disembarked in battle and also they could fight the battle from inside the vehicle protected from small-arms fire.
The infantrymen which hadn’t helped out with the cooking or the forest clearing were posted on the palisade wall.
With every passing day, the smile on Erik's face was growing larger and larger.
He finally started to feel like a proper general, although that thought was only a delusion of his.

Lost In Translation
If you're one to travel the roads, you may have heard of me. You may have heard my Names in the stories, the songs, and the whispers of the road. Perhaps you've even seen me during my travels, speaking to a bird of blue light, or on a city street, performing small acts for coin and repute. Or perhaps you may know me as the Skystrider, who walked with the wind. Or the Voiceless, a man of song without speech. You may know me as the Tutor, who taught the Lion of Summer how to fight, or the Traveler, who has walked all the roads of the earth. I am all of these things. And people have branded me a myth. But people don't understand what a myth is. They haven't heard the songs lost to our tongues, nor have they seen the things I've seen. They haven't gone to the places I've gone. My feet have walked the plains, the seas, and the clouds. I have spoken languages unspoken; tongues lost to time. I have sung to the earth, held the moon in my arms, and walked the roads that your heroes hesitate to even mention. I have outwitted Demons. I have danced with the Fae. My songs have been heard by lords of wind and ash, and my steps have echoed in the bellies of gargantuan beasts the likes of which you have never seen. These are what real myths are. And me? I'm no legend. I'm just the bard stupid enough to poke the real ones with a stick. Discord link here. [Disclaimer: Book 1 of this story will likely be published in KU by around the start of 2022, so please keep that in mind. Book 2 and onwards will continue here until they are published as well.]
8 310Living With Magic
Arthur, a young magician, is struggling with crippling social anxiety. The issue has reached a point where he likely won't graduate from University. Reaching a crossroads, he must decide whether to try and return to a family he despises or make his own path in the world. Is the magical power he has actually beneficial in the real world? Authors Note: I'm terrible at writing a synopsis, but over time I hope to write a better one. One of my favorite series of books is the Magicians by Lev Grossman and I hope to follow that same line of thinking within my story. How would a society built around magic actually exist and is power and magic actually as great as other stories make it out to be? The story and characters will be completely original and I will try to update the story on a regular basis. Also, any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

With nothing but a few tens of thousands of years of experince. He must survive on a world completly unlike any he has visted in the distant past, yet still eerily similar to an era long gone, welcome to the Old World; a place seemingly frozen in a time of swords and magic. P.S: this my first attempt writing please point out any mistakes or things you think i should alter or do better. P.P.S: i do not own the cover all credit goes to the original creator. P.P.S.S: I'll release chapters whenever they are finished, sooooooo no set release schedual...
8 172The Sea Tower
Sea witches were monsters of legends, capable of routing armadas and wreaking havoc across entire realms by controlling the weather. It was rumored that even the mighty krakens were under the control of the sea witches. Who, what, or where these witches were, no one knew. But no one sought them out either. The avarice of a mad king leads to the folly of a kingdom. Only a single turret survived the catastrophe, a single tower which protrudes outwardly from a boundless ocean, rumored to house the very creature which wreaked havoc and devastation. Sailors are warned to give the relic a wide berth, for few who have seen the tower ever return to speak the tale, and none who have approached it ever have. Do not approach the tower, they said…
8 195Vengeance by Moonlight
On a baleful, moonlit night, one man had nearly everything he possessed snatched away from him. Everything but his daughter. This would spark a lifetime search for answers, and revenge. But now, Donald McKinnon has gone missing, and it is up to his surviving daughter, Gavina, to put together the pieces of his disappearance, and in the process find the answers and retribution for her family's slaying. To do this, this habitual loner will need to employ the services of a number of colorful characters. From a half-mad aristocrat and his unshakeable manservant to a brilliant scholar, and a back alley thug as dangerous as their target, she will drag this menagerie into a world of murder, magic, and monsters to rescue what is most precious to her. Will they make it in time? And what grander plot might they uncover? All will be revealed, but not plenty of sweat, a few tears, and plenty of blood.
