《N3on Noir》Part 2- Chapter 2

Shrugging off my coat, I turn from the view.
Underneath I'm wearing a charcoal waistcoat and suit pants with a white shirt. Black tie. Clients expect a high-end PI to look a certain way. Doesn't mean I need to sacrifice function for form though. The pants, waistcoat and shirt all have micro-armour weaves. Handy for turning bullets aside. From a distance of course. My coat is carbon cloth. Waterproof, and not too bad at stopping knives either. Heading for the bedroom, I hang up the coat and take off my boots, placing them neatly side by side underneath it. "While you were out, you received one new message Mister Yamagoto." Sandi appears as a blue holographic image in the bedroom. "Home or office line?" "Office." "From who?" "A lady by the name of Mariko Satoshi." I frown. "Never heard of her."
"She said that she would appreciate it if you could get in touch with her as soon as possible. The matter is quite urgent." I slip off my shoulder holster and place it on my bedside table, before heading to my closet. A huge walk in affair about the same size as the living room in my old apartment. Sliding aside a rack of suits, I hit a hidden switch and a section of the wall retracts to reveal a small gun safe. I'd liked the Smith & Wesson, but since it's currently taking up residence on the bottom of Atoyama Bay, I needed a new weapon. "Did she say it was urgent or was that your impression?" "Both. She seemed quite distressed, and she also said that she needs your help. She doesn't know where else to go." I sigh. "Alright. Call her back. I'll see what I can do." "Yes Mister Yamagoto." Opening the safe door, I take a quick look at the collection of weapons in there. Not that there's a lot. A Sig 570 pistol and an HK RX submachine gun. As I pick up the pistol, there's a whirr and three blue lights appear along the barrel. I nod and put it aside. As the call is going through, I take off my waistcoat and shirt and examine the spot where Montreta hit me. It's a purple splotch on my abdomen, about the size of a cantaloupe. Not my first injury from a synth. There's a scar going from the bottom right side of my neck to my clavicle from where another one tried to separate my head from my body with a fire axe a couple of years ago. "Mister Yamagoto? I have Miss Satoshi on the line." "Put her through." A second later, a woman's voice comes through the apartment speakers. "Detective Yamagoto?" It's only two words, but I can hear the pain in her voice. "Miss Satoshi. I understand you wanted to speak to me." I grab a T-shirt from a rack and take my motorcycle armour off its stand. "Yes. Please, I need your help. It's my daughter. She's disappeared." Not the first time I've had a case like this. Disappearances are fairly common in the city. Hardly ever ends well. Most are never found. The ones that are? Well, their never the same. Not that I can tell her that. The poor woman sounds like she's already in enough pain. That's a problem. Dealing with emotions was never my strong suit. "When you say disappeared, do you think she simply left of her own accord or is it something else?" "I mean she's been kidnapped detective." That stops me. A memory slams into me harder than Montreta's punch at the docks. Girlish giggling. A light citrus perfume- I shake it off. Quickly. "Kidnapped? You're sure?" "Absolutely. I called the Police. They said they were investigating it, and then, about a week later, they said they didn't have the resources to spare and had to close the case. Since then, I've been trying to find someone who could help. No-one has." I sigh again. Turning back to the closet, I hang up my T-shirt and put the motorcycle gear back on its stand. Grabbing a fresh shirt instead, I put my waistcoat and tie back on and scoop up the Sig and my holster. "Okay, Miss Satoshi. Give Sandi your address and I'll be over to speak to you as soon as possible." "Thank you detective." As the call ends, I hear a faint sob.

Royal Guard (Complete)
I was an ordinary worker ant of the Kingdom, one of the millions populating a spread of land ten kilometers long. I had an ordinary life: I dug, I ate, and I slept; and a dream that was shared by all workers who wanted to live a life of adventure. I was on the last day of my mandatory community service, a day from becoming one of the harvesters --the crown jewel of our society-- when fate played its sick joke on me. I broke my mandible, lost my dream, and was almost forced into slavery as a result. That’s when she came into my life, a princess. She had no wings on her back, but the wings inside her were wider than the fairies that roamed the sky. She took me under her wing and populated my life with adventures and mysteries unreserved for a mere harvester. Life was good until we found termites sneaking into our territory. That’s when the adventures ended. She was mocked for calling the termites a threat. However, she remained determined to protect her kingdom, and I, to protect her. No matter the difficulties I remained by her side. Because we were a pair: a princess and her Royal Guard.

Wallowing in self-loathing, he lives his days without much purpose or motivation. Life, however, had other plans. On a rainy night of watching life pass him by, an explosion suddenly rips our young protagonist out of the bland world he knew. Meeting an old man claiming to be able to use magic, will his life finally change? Will the world finally give him a chance? This is a complete rewrite of my earlier story. Aside from my own personal problems with depression, there were many, many things I came to dislike about the way it was progressing. With the low quality of the earlier chapters, it was in dire need of at least an editing run. Instead of just editing the subpar chapters, I decided to just do it over again and change what I did not like. Please also note that I am not a native English speaker and thus might make mistakes. I have tried hard to find and correct most, but I am certainly not perfect. If you notice anything that is wrong just leave a comment below the chapter and I will try to get to it. The WereLionesses Mate
She was running out of breath, but that didn't matter, all that mattered was getting away from him and proving him wrong. Branches scraped her face and her arms, her body burning hot; but cold from her sweat as the wind blew over her skin. Her pants soaked from running through the streams, her shirt ripped to shreds around her stomach from very low hanging branches. Her hair, a tumbling fiery mess of tangles, and waves slipping through the ponytail she had quickly fastened trying to tame her wild hair. Running and crawling on the ground through the forest floor, trying to get back to the camp grounds so Whhooossshhhh! All of a sudden a giant gust of wind flew past her nearly lifting her off the ground and throwing her into a tree. Where in the world did that wind come from? She thought, but she kept running like it had never happened. She jumped over a fallen log, ignoring the fact that she almost fell in the process. She zoomed past all the trees and sprinted over the roots coming out of the ground. She rounded another tree coming to a sudden halt at seeing him standing there with a drink in his hand laughing and joking. She stood there wondering how in the world he could have beaten her here; He looked at her then, He looked, well, handsome, his faced was clean shaven and his button up shirt was all unbuttoned minus the three at the bottom. She could still visibly see his bronze chest and the top of his ripped-hard abs. He walked over to her and smiled, showing all of his teeth, the smile reaching his eyes. His eyes were dark and stormy, their color was usually a nice honey brown but now his eyes looked mid-night black. They looked like they could kill a man at eighty paces, but could sweep a woman off her feet at the same time.
