《Soulless: A free slave》Prologue

“It’s ok, you have nothing to be afraid of. Yes, I know it’s hard for you to trust me when you can’t move, but there’s really no need to worry. It’s just that your body is still sleeping while your mind is awake. I had to wake you to see some of your memories, and I’ll also need you to explain some of the things we’ll see there. Even though I have no intention of hurting you, I advise you to cooperate.”
“You see, the information your mind has collected during this short time is critical to us. Therefore, I won’t just pluck it away from your mind. I’ll offer you some good compensation instead. Certainly, you realize that everything that has happened isn’t just a coincidence. If you cooperate, I’ll ensure that our goodwill is extended further. We both know you need every advantage you can get in this place and, since both of us have a lot to gain from working together, there’s really no reason for us not to.”
“I understand you may be … reluctant. After all, this is not a good way to start a partnership, where I get to whisper in your ear while you can’t even open your eyes to see me. It’s not as if it would make a difference, but still … I do apologize for putting you in this uncomfortable position, and I do want you to know that I’m only doing this because there is really no other way. Rather than offer you the illusion of free choice, I’ll take the liberty of choosing for you. I believe it will all make sense in the course of … well … I’m really not at liberty to say.”
“Now, let’s go through your memories. My time here is limited, so please forgive me if I’m rushing it a little bit.”
