《Wait… Why is this a Skill? [Dropped]》Chapter 9

“Pu… Pu… Puu~!”
A strange cry ringed in my ears. I can describe one word about this strange cry.
“Annoyi~ng… Five more minutes…”
I turned over while sleeping on my bed. The bed feels hard and cold, it doesn’t feel like a bed.
“PUPUUU~!!!”
“Guho!!!”
I felt something rammed me hard in my gut, and I was sent flying for a few meters and crashed into the wall. It hurts…
“Pupuupuupuu~~!!”
Again, I heard the strange cry. It’s like its telling me to wake up. I opened my heavy eyelids and a dark and damp cave, along with a bluish furball entered my vision.
“Ouch ouch… Huh? Furry? What happened?”
It felt like I fell into a deep sleep for several days. A loud grumbling sound was heard throughout the cave.
“I’m hungry…”
Yes, it was me. It was my stomache that made that sound. And I didn’t notice it, but there were countless of shiny gems piled up in a corner. Most of the gems were colored yellow, while the others were colored blue.
“Ah… I remember…”
I was revived when I was killed and suddenly found myself in the 50th floor of the dungeon. I then travelled, following appraisal’s guidance to reach the exit in the shortest amount of time. While walking, I reached the stairs going to the 49th floor and there, I succumbed to fatigue lost consciousness.
When I woke up, a furball was resting on my head, and later I took it with and named it Furry. After ascending the next flight of stairs, we encountered a horde of golems and had to run away. Since it was impossible, I used my [Dota 2 Skill Set] skill and picked [Sven]’s kit. Using [God’s Strength], I and Furry wiped them out and when the duration for [God’s Strength] was over, excruciating muscle pain assaulted my body. Not being able to resist, I lost consciousness.
Which brings me back to here. Lying on the floor with the wall behind me having a hole shaped like a human. In front of me is a pouting furball. So cute.
“Pupuuu~!!!”

Furry was looking at me with narrowed eyes. It’s eyes saying, “Wake up already!” was completely conveyed to my mind. I slowly stood up and stretched my body. Feeling no more pain from the use of [God’s Strength] earlier made me feel relieved. But now, my problem is food. All monsters here are golems with rock for bodies, literally. So how am I supposed to find food in here in the first place? But thanks to one skill I have, I may be able to find a food source.
Appraisal! Would you please take the stage?
(Impossible to find food in [The Golem Cave] dungeon’s 48th floor)
… Say what now? Hold up, hold up… Are you sure about that statement, appraisal?
(Yes)
ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!!???
What the heck am I supposed to eat in the next few days!? Don’t tell me I will eat Furry here!? I won’t stoop so low to eat a companion just to survive! Even if it is a monster! And I don’t want to die a dog’s death in this freakin’ dungeon before I can fulfill my promise with Kayaka!!!
(Neverending verbal abuse to appraisal)
……………….
………….

….
..
.
“Okay… Calm down Kouta… You can still survive this… Let me remember what appraisal said.”
(Impossible to find food in [The Golem Cave] dungeon’s 48th floor)
Okay… I spot one word that may be a way out of this.
“Appraisal! Where can I find food in [The Golem Cave] dungeon?”
(Scanning… Please wait……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………… Found matching areas… Displaying results…

45th floor 60th floor
Found you! Right now, I am on the 48th floor. So I need to go down 12 floors, or go up 3 floors to find food. I need to take the shortest route, so my next destination is the 45th floor.
“Furry… Let’s go.”
“Pupuu~!”
I picked Furry up and it climbed on my head. First, let’s fill up my bag with these monster cores.
“It won’t fit, so I guess I’ll be taking only the blue monster cores.”
I took about 10 blue monster cores and placed it inside my bag.

“What should I do about the others?”
I, who was contemplating on what to do about the remaining cores, was tugged at by Furry.
“Pupuu~.”
Hmm? Is it telling me that it wants the cores?
“Do you want the cores Furry?”
“Pupuu~!”
I guess that’s a yes. I placed Furry on the ground and Furry trotted towards the pile of cores. It looks so cute doing that. When Furry reached the pile, it took one core and placed it in its mouth.
“Ehh?”
A silly voice escaped my lips as I stared at the present scene before me. A tiny furball was stuffing hard, shiny gems in its mouth and eating it. Not long after, the pile was reduced to nothingness as if nothing was ever there.
“…”
I stared at Furry who came trotting back to me with a plump belly and a satisfied face.
“Puu~…”
The scene where a furball was trotting to me made a warm feeling in my chest. Forget the weirdness of the scene earlier, the cuteness of this furball can make its past weirdness into cuteness.
“Puu~!”
Furry was standing under me, waiting to be picked up. I picked him up and surprisingly, he didn’t gain any weight. He slowly climbed back to his favorite spot, the top of my head and fell asleep.
“Puuuu~…”
… Appraisal, save this to memory…
(Memory recorded… Would you like to save?)
Yes… Save this so I can show Kayaka later.
A memory crystal appeared out of thin air and into my hands. I stored it inside my bag and continued walking based on the direction of aprraisal’s gudiance.
…
12 hours later…
I’m so hungry… A few more steps…
I am already in the 45th floor. During the ascension, I encoutered countless golems, from huge, durable ones, to small nimble ones. The most problematic ones were the golems that could use magic, the so called ‘Gargoyle’. I thought that the gargoyle would look like a statue of a humanoid figure with bat wings like any other gargoyle depictions from my world. Turns out, it just looked the same as all golems, making it harder to determine which is a gargoyle or not.
Right now, I am dragging my body along the shruberry. Shruberry you ask? It is a shruberry because there is plant life in this floor! But I still can’t find any food. Plants I come across are inedible and poisoned, while fruits I encountered tried to eat me. The fruits are also inedible.
A few minutes later, I found some hope in this forsaken wasteland. Wooden fences, Wooden buildings, humans exiting and guards stationed at the gates.
Finally… A human settlement…
…
~ Third Person POV ~
“Kekeke… Those humans, not knowing who they are dealing with makes my soul flutter in ecstacy!! Ahh… The screams of despair when they learn about it is impossible to defeat the Demon Lord, the shouts of grief when their loved ones are taken away from them! AHH!! I love this feeling!! More!!! MOREE!!!! Shower me more with their screams!!!”
“St—opp… Please… No… More…… AHHHH!!!!!!”
A woman could be seen lying on an altar, bounded by chains, and a human silhouette beside her. The silhouette was carrying something like nail clippers, but was big enough to cut a grown man’s finger.
Blood dripped from the left hand of the woman, along with one of her fingers. If one looked closely, she had no toes, and was missing her left breast. Her right arm was missing from the shoulder down and one of her eyes were gouged out.
“Kekekeke!! Scream for me!!! Lowly human!!!”
“GAAHHHH!!!”
The giant clipper cut all of the remaining fingers of the woman. It is a miracle that the woman was still alive from the blood loss.
“Kekekeke… Thank you for your screams. Now I can go out refreshed to finish my job.”
The silhouette cut the chains of the woman and raised her up while grasping her neck.
“Guu… Kaa…”
“To the eradication of all the heroes.”
That was the last sentence the woman heard before dying due to the dismemberment of her head.

Demons are stronger, faster, wiser, and more talented than the average human, and, despite his crime, Algier is no demon hunter. Mentally defeated before the tournament even begins, Algier is torn between becoming another demon’s points and fighting on in his dead mother’s legacy. But should he choose to fight, there is one advantage that Algier has that can tip the odds in his favour: Demons don’t lie, but humans can. How to read this story Demons Don't Lie is written from the perspective of an unreliable (lying) narrator. There are many inconsistencies within the story which are placed there intentionally.
