“What do you think he’s gonna do, Owl?”

Princess asks me.

“I genuinely have no idea. But since we can’t break the barrier, there isn’t much of a problem with leaving it to him. Princess.”

“Do you think he can break it?”

This time my wife asks me.

“I also genuinely have no idea. But he said that he would give it a try after watching us do our utmost best. So, I guess he should have a sufficient confidence, I suppose.”

“Whatever happens, I hope you are right.”

Me too. After taking a deep breath and checking out the transparent barrier, 47 takes a deep breath and gets into stance in front of the barrier.

As he gets ready, pitch-black gauntlets and greaves start to cover his arms and legs. And as he starts to prepare, his right arm starts to get blurry. More his arm gets blurry, more I start to feel something heavy from his right arm.

BOOOOM!

CRACK

As he punches the barrier without letting out a single sound, barrier cracks a little with explosion. I have no idea where that explosion came from. Even though his punch was impressive, it only manages to crack the barrier slightly.

After few seconds barrier finishes mending itself back.

“Hmm.”

As he continues to observe it, he lets out a pondering sound.

“47, do you think you can break it?”

He looks to me and I see a pitch-black mask covering his lower part his face on his face.

“I think I can make a crack big enough for us to enter. But problem is the black flame from the inside.”

After telling me that he closes his eyes. Giant wolf, pitch-black like his gears starts to materialize from who knows where. Four meters tall and almost nine meters long. Even as it simply stands there, I feel pressure of a predator from it.

It starts to shrink down to meter tall. After shrinking, it stands behind 47 crouching.

After summoning his wolf 47 walks away from the barrier and stop about ten meters from the barrier.

BOOM!

He suddenly jumps with an exploding sound and almost reaches ten meters. And he starts to fall toward the barrier with a kicking position.

BOOOOOM!!!

CRACK!!

He lands a kick on the barrier, causing an even bigger explosion. With that explosion, even bigger crack forms on the barrier. But even that fails to create an opening in the barrier, only bigger crack.

“Hmm.”

He lets out another pondering sound while scratching his chin.

“What do you think?”

“It is indeed formidable barrier. But I think if I manage to inflict continuous damage to it, it may break. I think it is better for you if you stand little farther.”

“Oh, okay.”

We distance ourselves from him and watch him. He starts to take a deep breath. And as he exhaled, crimson colored flames start to erupt from his mouth. At least I think it is from his mouth. I can’t see his mouth from behind his mask.

Small crack starts to form on the barrier as the flame reaches it. But it stops expanding after a few seconds. As if he noticed that, his flames start to change color. Its color starts to change into azure one. And as its color changes, we start to feel the heat from ten meters distance.

“Princess, I think it is better for us if we take a more distance.”

“I think so too, princess.”

As we agree, we widen the distance from the barrier. As the color of his flames change, crack starts to grow bigger. It had about of three meters diameter before, now it has about six meters diameter. But like before, it stops expanding after few seconds.

But just as I suspected, color of his flames starts to change again. This time it starts to turn black from azure. And we start to feel the heat even from thirty meters of distance.

“I think we better move again.”

This time princess says. We make more distance between us and the barrier again. And like before, crack starts to grow bigger. From six meters to ten.

But unfortunately, it still fails to break it.

“How long do you think he can breathe fire like this?”

Princess asks my wife.

“I don’t know, princess. But I’m sure he must be nearing his limit now.”

Just as she guessed, he stops to breathe fire after few seconds. But as soon as he stops breathing fire, he lunges at the cracked barrier and punches it like before.

BOOM!

But this time something starts to eat at the barrier consistently. I can’t see it, but I know it is there, wreaking havoc on the barrier.

CRACK!

And as it continues to bombard the barrier, crack continues to grow.

“Almost there.”

47 distances himself from the barrier while it is being bombarded by who knows what. After taking about ten meters of a distance he sits down and closes his eyes. After few seconds whirlwind starts to manifest around him, as few second passes it turns into a tornado.

After few more seconds it turns into white dragon with long whiskers. It immediately charges at the cracked barrier after forming.

BOOOM!!!

SMASH!!!

Barrier breaks after the tornado dragon charges into the cracked barrier, creating opening of about three meters diameter. As the dragon enters the barrier, same black fire ball smashes into it, dissipating it.

But as soon as it dissipated, the wolf 47 summoned charges into the barrier, vanishing.

“What on earth are you waiting for?”

While we were standing shocked, 47 runs after his wolf. As we wake up from out stupor, we immediately run after him before barrier finishes mending itself.

As we enter after 47 into the barrier, we see him standing in front of the castle walls and hears sound of fighting nearby. As I look around, I see his wolf fighting with man in a full body armor, holding shield in his left hand and a sword in his right.

But I recognize what it is from energy it is exuding. As I feared it was a demonic warrior. And behind them stands another figure clad in dark robe, holding a red wooden staff.

Demonic mage that was throwing that black fire ball. As it looks toward us.

“I suppose I should say as expected of a Guild masters, ….”

“Hey, it was me who broke your barrier.”

47 interrupts him mid-sentence.

“Oh, did you?”

“You’re damn right I did all the work.”

47 looks to me.

“I’m expecting my answer.”

“Fine, she is my wife.”

He looks to my wife after I said that, and she nods at him.

“He is my husband.”

“I knew it.”

“You knew?”

“Well, I had my suspicions.”

“Now that is out of the way, let’s check out what these demons can do, shall we?”

He immediately lunges at the demonic mage after saying that. As he comes into the range of the demonic mage, mage throws another black fireball at him. 47 fights back in kind. Throwing another fireball at his fireball. But his is azure colored.

BOOM!!

As their fireballs meet in the air, they cause gigantic explosion. But 47 charges into that explosion, coming out on the other side and punching at the mage with his blurry gauntlet.

CLANK!

But his punch fails to reach the mage and lands on transparent shield around the mage. As soon as his punch fails to inflict damage on the mage, he spins around and kicks the mage’s barrier.

SMASH!

With no other sound than the barrier breaking, he smashes the mage’s barrier. As his kick smashes the mage’s barrier, it continues to travel and kicks that mage in his temple, throwing him away.

Mage hits the castle walls and falls unconsciously on the ground. After dispatching the mage, 47 looks to his wolf.

“Finish him quickly.”

As his wolf got its command, it swipes at the warrior and throws away his shield. Warrior lunges at the wolf after losing his shield, but before his sword reached the wolf, it breathes fire like its master.

Warrior slices the flames and comes down hard on the wolf. Just as the warrior’s sword was about to slice it into two, it splits into two and swipes at the startled warrior, sandwiching him between their paws.

As they separate their paws, the warrior falls to the ground unconsciously like the mage. 47’s wolf merges back into one after dispatching the warrior.

While we were focusing on the wolf, 47 was already heading toward the main gate.

As we follow him my wife closes to me.

“What do you think?”

“I think we were lucky not to pick a fight with him. Even if we gang up on him, we probably will lose miserably.”

“So, you think so too, huh?”

“Yes, I do too. Everything he used to break the barrier was frankly saying scary to me. And what scared me the most is: I didn’t feel any energy leak from his skills. And that symbolizes his impeccable energy control.”

“So, you think I made a wrong decision, Owl?”

“I will be frank, your highness. Yes, you did. But it is too late.”

“Do you think so too, Orlin?”

“Unfortunately, yes, your highness.”

Princess goes silent.

“Don’t worry. What’s done is done. Right now, what’s important is to find out what is going in the capital.”

“You’re right.”

“What do you think is ha…..”

“FUCK!!!”

As we were following 47, we hear him cursing. We hurry after him and find him standing in front of the main gate.

“What is the matter?”

As I ask him that, he looks to me and knocks on the thin air. As he does that another transparent barrier appears momentarily along the gate.

“Are you serious?”

47 nods at me.

“Think you can break it?”

“I’m not sure. I think this one is stronger that the outside one.”

“So, what do you think we should do?”

“Break it of course.”

For some reason, grin crawls up his face as his mask forms on his face.
