《Try Me!》Chapter 3: Exploration

I open my bleary eyes and it seems it's still bright outside. Ooh it feels so good like I slept for a long time. Unexpectedly I'm still not hungry or thirsty suppose fruit I ate was nutrient enough.

I try to stand up on my stumpy feet and manage to do that. I somehow feel taller huh. Well whatever. On second thought this indifference to almost anything should worry me somewhat but it doesn't. That might become an issue. But fortunately, not for now.

Now let’s try getting out of here first. So, I walk to the opening leading to outside. Now that I see it this space under tree is very spacious. It seems almost as big as my mind palace awesome. After reaching the opening I climb up out to the forest. After all, as I thought I'm in a forest full of trees and grass. Air is so fresh that I can almost taste it. Never seen a landscape this green in my life.

After walking for a while, I look back to tree I was under and see a tree so GIGANTIC I can't see the top and both ends.

Magnificent.

Got no other word to describe this tree. Surrounding is nothing but trees. Don't know what kind of species these trees are but this forest looks and feels beautiful. But I can't lose the feeling this beautiful forest will swallow me whole and spit me out if I relax here. So definitely not someplace to rest my weary bones.

But I still feel so comfortable here like I'm home. Like I got a certain affinity with this forest.

And I get a feeling as if something is observing me since I left the tree. Doesn't feel like malicious intent. But more like curiosity. So, I think it's fine to ignore that feeling for now.

Now moment of decision do I venture deeper into the forest or go back to my burrow under the tree. Well considering my survival it's better to go back to my burrow but on the other hand I will still need food and water to survive so got no other choice to venture deeper for food or at least water source.

So first let’s try heading west.

But problem is it is atrociously hard to walk fast with these short legs. This suck. Fortunately for some reason I seem to not get tired easily. So that's a plus.

After walking for 5 minutes I stumble upon a realization that I don't know how to find my way back to burrow under the tree. So, I decide to go back to the tree while I still can see the gigantic tree. But while walking back I notice that I can recall the way back perfectly fine from observing the surroundings.

That's interesting. Apparently, I have so called Eidetic memory. Sure, that will provide so much convenience in the future. But Eidetic memory alone can't explain this. It's not like I observed my surrounding carefully on my way, I simply glanced past everything in my way so that means I have enhanced perception too.

That might explain the feeling of being watched that I have been having since coming out of the burrow. This feeling of being watched is very disturbing. I don't like it at all but since there isn't much I can do about it all I can do is hope whatever watching me doesn't decide to kill me.

Considering I can find my way back let’s continue heading west.

So, after walking for almost 20 minutes I hear a flowing water to my right and finds a small creek with pure looking water. Let’s take a sip and see what happens.

MMM! tastes good not good as the juice of that fruit but still good.

Now that I found a reliable water source next on the agenda is food. Since I didn't find anything to eat on my way that means got to I keep going or go to different direction after going back to the tree.

Keep going means I have to cross the creek. But something tells me that I shouldn't cross this creek. It feels as if this creek is some kind of boundary and crossing it will put me in a life-threatening danger. This is the first time I'm getting this kind of feeling from somewhere deep like some kind of survival instinct warning me crossing the creek will kill me.

So, second choice it is then.

After walking for almost 30 minutes I find my way back to the tree with no problem. So that means there isn't much of a danger of getting lost as long as I go out when it's bright out.

Huh that feeling of being watched disappeared as soon as I came into the space under the tree.

Since it's getting dark out I can't go out now.

But problem with this course of action is I still couldn't find anything to eat. Even though I'm still not hungry after walking for a while who knows what might happen until sun rises tomorrow.

So, let’s list my choices. First, keep exploring and risk getting lost in the dark, Second, stay under the tree till sun rises again and hope that I won't get hungry again. So, basically either get lost or endure hunger. Well choice is hilarious obvious. Second choice it is then.
