《Enlightened Violence》Chapter 46: Fallout Town

I have a problem. I'm horny, and horny Kaden is bad Kaden as I'm very prone to be dragged into troublesome situations by hot women when I'm in that state.
I still remember that one time when some chick convinced me to deal with some random guy stalking her. He turned out to be an amateur boxer, and things quickly went to shit when I confronted him in the name of getting laid.
I wasn't a pushover myself and managed to deal with the guy quickly enough, breaking his nose and beating the crap out of him until he promised not even to look at the girl.
And even though I can't for the life of me remember the girl's name, the sex was amazing. But my point still stands. I need to get laid, and I need to do it as soon as possible.
That is easier said than done, despite the fact that we've finally reached fallout town and the fact it was full of prostitutes willing to suck dick for spare change.
The working ladies here, as lovely as they were, were most likely choke-full of disease and STDs, and I'll probably catch something from them by merely looking, not to mention sticking my deck into them.
My growing lust, and its effect on my judgment aside, things were actually going well for me. Many of the escaped contestants decided to stay, along with the original group of Clark, Billy, Vilhelm, Arden, and even Briar.
To say that I wasn't thrilled about Briar's decision to stay would be an understatement. I had nothing against the crazy blonde, but she's unpredictable, and I don't need that right now.
Take Clark, for an example. Despite being clever, resourceful, and helpful to have around, the guy is a knifing piece of shit who would be more than willing to stab me in the back to advance himself into the world.
But at the end of the day, I would see him coming a mile away if he decided to stab me in the back, as he's easy to predict. His one and only aim is to satisfy his ambition and elevate his position.
So as long things looked promising, then I would not need to worry about him, and if things began turning to shit, then I would know he'll be up to something.

However, I can't say the same about Briar. She was a mystery to me, whether it was her origin, desires, ambitions.., etc.
I knew nothing about what drives her, so it would be impossible for me to predict her actions, which is why she would be troublesome to have around, despite her strength and apparent willingness to listen to me, but I digress.
Number 99, who introduced himself as Wallas Walwin, had unfortunately decided to leave as he was a noble of some far-out kingdom to the east of the wasteland.
You heard right, monarchies still exist in this world, and they tend to resemble the monarchies of the middle ages more than their modern counterparts, but that is neither here nor there, I suppose.
I also had a chat with Wallas, and it turned out I had him to thank for the fact Gamma Ball and Stink Bomb didn't bother me during the first stage after my encounter with them.
The two maniacs actually tried to kill him and steal his supplies after the undead king killed him, and he teleported away. He met them not long after the teleportation, and it took even less time for the three of them to start fighting.
The fight ended with Wallas injuring Stink Bomb and feeling intact with his supplies, and the two maniacs weren't the type of people to forget grudges. So they were busy chasing after him and didn't bother looking for me.
But in any case, I kept my word and introduced him to a trustworthy middle man Kaden's now dead scavenger group had many dealings with, who would help Walls find some mercenary work to fund his trip home.
Though the rest of the leavers did not get the same special treatment, I still pointed them towards well-known brokers and what not to help them make some credits and get out of the wasteland.
I had been so busy since we arrived at Fallout town that I didn't even get the chance to check my new perk, Energy Predator, but I would have some time to do that later today..., probably.
And speaking of fallout town, it was actually inside a giant crater, left behind by a nuclear warhead after it detonated, vaporizing the gigantic space monstrosity that landed here along with the city that used to be here.

The area was full of radiation for decades, preventing anyone from approaching, not to mention making a settlement here.
But for some reason, unknown to me, a group of traders from the wasteland decided it was a good idea to cleanse the place and build Fallout town here.
And despite the enormous amount of recourses said traders poured into it, Fallout town proved to be a worthwhile investment, becoming one of the precious few beacons of civilization in the wasteland, with countless opportunities for anyone smart enough to take advantage of them.
The town itself was a series of buildings built inside the crater's sides, with countless elevators and escalators to transport people and goods from point to point, an enormous metallic wall surrounding the entire pit.
Though I don't usually care for such things, Fallout town made even someone as nihilistic as myself admire its existence as it represented human nature in more ways than one.
A thriving settlement built on the ashes of the old world after the unveiling and the great war, a middle finger pointed straight towards fate, representing the human's ability to adapt and overcome everything thrown at them.
Maybe that's why the traders decided to build their settlement here, but I digress.
I heard a knock and raised my head for the paperwork I had buried it in, sighing. "Come in," I said as I sat straight in my chair, watching Clark make his way inside the room.
"Everyone settled in and waiting for you to assign them," Clark remarked in his usual neutral tone as he stood in front of me.
"Great, take this and assign everyone based on what I wrote here," I replied, sighing as I passed him a piece of paper with the names of everyone who decided to stay with me and where to send them.
I had taken a loan from the same middleman I sent Wallas towards to house everyone and provide them with enough supplies, but it won't last long, which is why I intend to assign everyone who stayed in a suitable job to generate money.
I had instructed everyone to write down their skills and preferences, and looking through them while coming up with the best line of work for everyone based on my memories of the wasteland was what's eating up my time.
But I finished it already, and we should be able to repay the loan sooner rather than later.
"Very well," Clark nodded as he took the paper from my hand. "Do you need anything else?" he asked as he began reading through the sheet.
"Not right now," I replied, and Clark nodded, turning around leaving without saying a word.
'I can finally check what that Energy Predator perk is.' I smiled, massaging my sore neck as I opened my stats, looking for the new perk.
[Energy Predator: You have the ability to absorb and assimilate energy in all its forms, regardless of anything]
Did that bastard scam me or something? This perk is just a glorified shortcut to getting new types of energy, as I could do the same by buying new energy types from the System.
'System, how much would it cost to unlock a new type of energy?'
[100,000 EXP, but keep in mind that the amount of EXP needed to unlock more types of energy would increase with every successful purchase]
"The fuck?" I murmured with twitching eyes as I heard the staggering number of experience points needed to unlock a new type of energy.
I had only spent 100 experience points to unlock energy back when I was still in the undead city, so to say I was exasperated at this dramatic increase in needed points would be an understatement.
And the fact the amount of needed EXP would only increase with every purchase is frankly depressing. Thinking about how much the number would increase is even stressing as the System doubled the original 100 EXP by 1000 times, so I can only imagine how much the next one would cost.
Not to mention that I would be getting a random type of energy, while I'd be able to pick and choose what I want if I use Energy predator.
"Well, it looks I misjudged the smug bastard for once,"
