《On The Run From A Dragon》Day Ten: Part Ten

Tom whipped his microgun up at the arrogant spectator. She had a bizarre appearance with one large single eye resting above of her nose and ten eyes on long black tentacles. The smile of razor sharp teeth was wiped away as she formed a spell shield. The microgun ate ammo and shat out brass as it jackhammered into the bubble of mana. Three of the her eyes discharges spells of their own at Tom. The stream of fire coming at him turned into the ray of frost and cancelled each other out. A bolt of lightning was seized in a magnetic sphere round him and thrown back at her. The giant spark of electricity shoved her into the corner of the Wall and ceiling as the protecting field deformed. Small strings of current ran over it as they grounded into the stone round her.
'Bell! Get back. She has true magic.'
'Negative Sr.'
Zabel razed her heavy machine gun and placed accurate shot after shot into the same spot. Every time a HEAT round impacted the impenetrable shield it would concave in as if being hit by a sledgehammer. She dodged to the side as one of the eye stalks staring at her began to flare whit a dark purple light. A beam of brilliant purple of energy caught the foot of the lumbering juggernaut as the concrete ground evaporated. Its armor disintegrated away as the exoskeleton and actuator housing was exposed. She kept firing as she remained up right on the damage on the limb. One of Tom's drill bits tore its way of out his pocket and rammed into the gazer's shield and slowly turned. Her eye went wide open as it through the spell like a corkscrew. A telekinetic ray form one of her eyes grabbed on to it and tired to halt it. The drill bit paused for a second, but gravity delivered it a kick in the ass and proceeded on. Like a cork in a champagne bottle with too much pressure, it burst inside her safe space and shot through her chest and heart. This was her first time seeing her own blood. Staring down at the red fluid in shock, she didn't know what to do. Losing concentration on her spell, the hailstorm of bullets ripped into her. Tom looked over at Zabel and asked.

'Are you ok?'
'Yes Sr.'
'And the foot?'
Not needed to see the hud display to know the right foot was greyed out, she replied.
'The knee is still good, but I'm going to have to hobble round on the foot.'
'Right, let's move on. Also, next time I say run. You run ok?'
'Yes Sr.'
'You're not going to, are you...'
She didn't answer him.

Viridescent Core
Some mortals see dungeons as a plague to destroy. Some mortals see dungeons as a resource to manage and harvest. Some mortals see dungeons as a place to train and advance. However, all of them agree on something. Dungeons are unnatural and deadly. Places where death stalks every corner and monsters thrive. What mortals forget, in their hubris of tools and civilizations, is that Mother Nature is often the deadliest of all. Feel free to write any comment, suggestion, or criticism. I read and appreciate every single one! Releases are on Mondays and Thursdays. With occasional bonus chapters on Saturdays. Have a nice day ^^

The story of Ashes and Cinders -Hey, Disclaimer: I'm a new author and this is a trial run. I'm super psyched about this story and am just writing it for fun. There's not really a schedule, although I do post somewhere around once every two days, maybe more if I have free time. I have no plan, no plot, no lore. Just figuring stuff out along the way. I hope you like it, and please give me comments and criticism if you find mistakes. It's what trial runs are for! :P ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ If you're wondering where I got my cover, check out This Guy From Fiverr They're really good.
