《The Heavens Shall Fall》Chapter 76: Genius?

Sappy then said "Talent? I have no such thing. Everyone knows that your talent far exceeded mine. That is why I have been compared many times to you, which made people view me as trash." Hu Siyu simply stared at him deeply, and afterwards proceeded with the steps of the art. Again, Hu Siyu started the steps as Sappy hesitatingly observed. It was also at this moment that Ming Li's eyes continuously glowed with enlightenment from what he was watching using Sappy. He never thought that he could learn a skill from the tribe as easy as this. His investment in Sappy suddenly felt worth it when he was slowly gaining enlightenment. The process of enlightenment for Ming Li was faster compared to Sappy. It only proved that that Ming Li's ability to comprehend a skill was far greater than Sappy, even though Sappy possessed the full art. It may be because, Ming Li already experienced enlightenment twice from the wooden slip which made his understanding towards arts and skills to be more than the average person. After Hu Siyu repeated the steps thrice, Ming Li already gained full enlightenment of the skill. He now stood in the cave with burning passion as he tried the movement demonstrated by Hu Siyu. By only doing three attempts, Ming Li was able to pull off the skill at a rougher state compared to Hu Siyu. However, the fact that he pulled it off without an art proved his increase in comprehension ability. Walls of the cave were also sliced into pieces when the water blades hit it, also it did not only slice the wall, it also pulverized the debris which gave a clean cut to the wall which defined its destructive strength. Compared to his Sun's Wave which could do large area damage, this skill has more penetrative ability and more compact force. His eyes glimmered with excitement as he watched Hu Siyu again teaching his brother the skill. His movement was flawless and natural; It was far from average. Not many could do what he was doing, even Ming Li was amazed of his mastery of the art and skill. It was not something he could do. After several more attempt, Sappy was also able to grasp the concept of the skill. His face showed a bit of excitement from learning a skill that their parents personally handed down to his brother. Unlike his brother, He had have not much memory of his parents. They died when he was 2 years old, and the time he spent with them was rather short. The only family he had connection with was his brother, however their relationship was also not good because of the difference in their talent which caused them to be trained separately at a young age. His brother showed potential far exceeding the norms, which was why he was treated in a special way and had no time for Sappy. On the other hand, Sappy was not treated well enough and was often not given attention by anyone which caused a gap in their relationship as brothers. Even though everyone in their tribe could be considered as their family since they originated from a single ancestor, this was not the case when a whole tribe existed for hundreds of years. The familial connection of non direct relatives weakens as time passed by, and only immediate family members could be considered a real relative. Ming Li could feel the emotions of Sappy while he was controlling him. It was a mix of resentment and longing. Sappy didn't speak out any of this, instead he just walked away after learning the skill. Hu Siyu also didn't say a word. Instead, he looked at the back of his brother lovingly while he was walking away back towards the house. After a moment, Hu Siyu closed his eyes and sighed as he also looked away towards the tower where Hu Shoushan was located. Then he strode forward full of resolve disappearing into the darkness of the night. ... The next day, Sappy had already recovered enough because of the pills. He was now able to walk around town and check everything around it. He suddenly had the urge to go out of his home and walk around the tribe to check how things were going on with the death of the son of one of the Tribe Elders. What he didn't know was that, his actions were influenced by Ming Li. There were things in the tribe that Ming Li wanted to check. So he decided that spying on his enemies to gain the upper hand would be the best move. He learned a lot from his enmity with the Black Spider Guild. This time, he would not allow the tribe to simply hunt him down. He plan to strike first if possible before they could even get a hint where he was. While walking around, Sappy heard people gossiping about him. It wasn't everywhere, however there were still enough to catch his attention. He then approached a random tribe member who were at the Fusion Realm and held him in the shoulder, as he asked in a cold tone. "Hey why are you talking about me?" The seeker at the fusion realm was a startled after being asked in such a way, however, the man speaking to him was at the Soul Realm so he had no choice but to answer. "We were just talking about your brother giving up his slot for the tribal successor." Sappy's face turned a bit unsightly as he shoved the man away then proceeded walking while thinking. "It is his choice to do that. It has nothing to do with me." Suddenly, a voice at the center of the tribe echoed out as it said "Today is the day for choosing the participants for our tribe in the upcoming tournament for the whole plane. "Anyone in the soul realm can participate, even seekers who are not included in any organization. However, for our tribe, we only wish to send those who are worthy enough! "So we will hold our own pre selection before the start of the tournament and select only five participants to represent our tribe in the tournament." Sappy felt excitement when he heard the voice. He immediately flew towards the center of the tribe where several people already started gathering. Many were in the fusion realm, but some lower realm seekers were also mixed in the crowd trying to see who were willing to participate. Most were hesitant, because they knew that the five slots would be for the five most promising members of the tribe, however, some were still eager to try their luck and gain a slot in the tournament. This tournament was announced a year ago. It is a tournament done every fifty years to interact with every group in the whole plane. Also it is a time to show the strength of each organization compared to others. Sappy was among those eager to try their luck, so he immediately landed on the platform where the man who spoke those words was standing. The man looked at him as if he was assessing Sappy, then after a few breaths he pointed at his side where there was a scroll placed on the a stone table. "Drop your blood on the scroll so we can know your real level, realm and size of your core. "A core without color means you are at the Beginners Realm, a red core means you are at the Body Tempering realm, a blue core means you are at the Fusion Realm, and a purple core means you at the Soul Realm. "Also anyone who are at the Soul Ascension trying to lower their stage will be exposed since your core color would be white and soul flame would be burning on it. "As for the measuring your talent, ten lines is average, which means you have a one inch core size, above that, means you have talent above average. Each line indicates 0.1 increase in core size, so those who can reach 30 lines or 3 inch core would be rare geniuses which can increase your chances of being selected to participate." Sappy's face was a bit hesitant as he stepped forward and cut a small wound at the end of his index finger, where a drop of blood flowed out dripping towards the scrolls. When the drop of blood came in contact with the scroll, various symbols formed above the scroll, then an illusory core slowly materialized surrounded by the symbols. Everyone stared at the illusory core; Sappy was the first one to take the test so each and every disciple was curious of the result. When the illusory core fully materialized, it was purple in color, and twelve lines also appeared above it. The man who was administering the test said. "You are on the Soul Realm, however your talent is only average, but, the passing rate for the initial test is to have twelve lines and above. "Since you have passed, you can proceed to the east mountain and take the second test there." Sappy wasn't much delighted of the result; he knew that he had low talent, and already knew the approximate size of his core, however, he was still a bit pleased that he was accepted even with meager results. In the cave, Ming Li didn't bother with the result of Sappy. He was in daze when he heard that a 3 inch core was already considered a rare genius. While his core was around 5 inch in size! Ming Li knew that his core size was abnormally large because of the fruit and that he probably is at the level of the geniuses, however, he never thought that he would be leagues above them.

Fallout: Vault X
An original novel set in the Fallout universe, written to be accessible to all, featuring unique people and places. Vol.II. out now Fallout: Vault X tells the story of John. A vault dweller, who spent every day of his twenty five years underground. Like his father, and his father before him. Proud to live in the last remaining bastion of humanity, all that survived The Great War of the atomic age. Hidden deep below the surface of the earth, toiling under brutal conditions. Year after year, decade upon decade. All to expand into the natural cave system the Vault occupied, building for the future. However, John knew what his forefathers did not, that everything he’d been taught was a lie. After finishing school at the age of ten, John received his standard issue pipboy. An arm mounted personal computer, worn by everyone in the Vault. Used to coordinate the relentless pace of expansion, needed to work as an apprentice. To learn the craft that would be his life’s work. A noble calling to ensure a future for all that remained of the human race. A quirk of fate saw John equipped not with the crude, clunky, pipboy model his father wore. That almost everyone around him wore. His looked smaller, sleeker, finished in a jet black sheen. And capable of doing far more than its drab counterparts. The world above had been ravaged by atomic flames, yet life clung to its bones. The Red Valley fared better than most in the century since the bombs fell. The clean water and rich soil protected by rolling hills. All spared from direct strikes, for the most part. Life survived here. Trees spawned from charred ground, misshapen, green leaves turned red. Along with simple crops, grown wild at first, then cultivated by the survivors. The scavengers of the old world were inventive, hardy people. All determined to rebuild in the ruins of a world they never knew. In the decades that passed settlements emerged. They grew, spreading along the valley floor. Reclaiming the pre-war remnants of the once industrialised heartland. Salvaging the robotic wonders of a bygone age to build their walls and work their fields. To protect them in the dark of the wasteland. But such things are uncommon in this world, and the rarer something is, the greater its value. And the worth of pre-war technology had not gone unnoticed. The last, real, power in this world rested in the mechanised hands of The Brotherhood of Steel. Forged from the mortally wounded old world military. The Brotherhood used its access to the weapons made for a conflict no one won to strike out into the wastes. Men and women were equipped with advanced armour, aerial transportation, high grade weaponry. Accompanied by the training, strength, and will, to put them to use. They established chapters and set up outputs far and wide. All dedicated to a single purpose. To ensure the technology left abandoned by its long dead creators didn’t fall into the wrong hands. Namely, any hands that were not their own. This is the world John escaped into. A place of horrors brought forth from atomic fire. A place where survival meant battling against the darkness. Fighting a war each day to get to the next. And war...war never changes

The Nightcore Trilogy
Going to space was supposed to be the adventure of a lifetime, but for Reece Danielson and his crew, it was only the beginning. As the fresh astronauts aboard the Zhengzhou International Space Station start their on-the-job training, Reece is shown a discovery that changes his entire worldview. It isn’t long before a tragic accident aboard the station sets off a series of events that not only puts the crew in danger but at odds with each other. The events quickly escalate into a man-made apocalyptic incident on the surface of the planet. A virulent plague is prematurely released which transforms everyone into flesh-eating undead, and that is only the beginning of the troubles. There are far worse things down there than zombies and possibly a few of them lurk on the station itself. The Nightcore Trilogy thematically begins with a heavy sci-fi feel coupled to a gritty space-based horror mystery. The story's layers are slowly peeled back, evolving into something much more supernatural, mythological, and high-fantasy-based. It's a mix of elements from survival horror, zombie apocalypses, ancient mythologies, supernatural stories, and harem anime. It contains semi-descriptive sex scenes (traditional and non-traditional), descriptions of gore, profanity, and adult situations, so I recommend it for mature and open-minded audiences only.

The Twelve
In a world marred by the supernatural, Japan suffers from its own fair share of evil and demonic disasters, with generations of shamans known as Onmyoji protecting their homeland from these forces of evil. Capable of wielding magic and using spirits of their own, these shamans were not only skilled in battle, but also divination. However, they were unable to correctly predict Japan's loss in World War Two, and suffered the punishments that followed. Persecuted and torn apart by infighting, the Onmyoji reunited under the banner of the Tsuchimikado clan, descendants of Abe no Seimei, one of the greatest Onmyoji to ever live. The Onmyoji began to rebuild and to regrow. Ren is the sole heir to the Tsuchimikado family, but has been unable to practice Onmyodo ever since his birth, even though he possesses the greatest ability in the family. But when disaster befalls his family, Ren has nobody to turn to, and no idea how to use his powers. As he journeys to escape the same fate his family faced and attempts to learn how to use his powers, there is only one question on his mind; as the Tsuchimikado heir, how can he save the Onmyoji... from themselves? ---------------------------------------------- note from author: I'm writing this based loosely on the very real theories of Onmyodo, and so my writing may not be a truthful or accurate depiction of Onmyodo or other related areas, such as religion, for instance. That is why, while depicted in the real world, events that happen may seem unrealistic and it may be easier to imagine it as a parallel universe that is the same as ours, but with slight differences so that my possible errors will be easier to overlook. Sorry, and thanks!
