《The Heavens Shall Fall》Chapter 57: Underground

In the poison hall, Ming Li sat crossed legged unmoving covered in hundreds of small flowers and vines. There were hundreds of flowers which actually made it difficult for everyone to completely see his mask. He became some sort of attraction in the poison hall, some people would enter the hall just to see him. It was already two months since Ming Li entered that state and the flowers surrounded him never stopped blooming. No one knew what was happening inside the stone tablet, but they were sure Ming Li was doing something totally unheard of. All the elders now knew the name "Jin", which was Ming Li's fake name. Easily, he became a popular figure in the guild without him knowing about it. Inside the stone tablet, he already cleared a small portion of the area of flowers from his initial position. His face showed a slight frown as he plowed through the space inside the tablet. The plants could not stop his advance, however, he was already exhausted and most of the part he have cleared was the area close to the green flower. Also, He realized that far ahead there were some other flowers the same as the green flower! "So this space is actually bigger than I thought! and this flower was the first hurdle. Tsk, I made it as far as getting near this second flower, but I think this is my limit for now. I need to improve more to completely clear this space! "Now that I have cleared more poison flowers than what I should have normally done, I have gained deeper understanding of poison which is a great. However, completely clearing this space will require more time and I don't know how long I have been in here. Also, I need to make sure I can still prepare and participate in the war." He sighed then came back to the first flower and plucked it. Outside, a big illusory flower bloomed above him when he plucked the flower, Information about poison flowed through his mind which made him learn the first part of the art. Everyone smiled, and waited for Ming Li to finally open his eyes, They knew that when the illusory flower bloomed, it is the time someone finished the enlightenment. Which in the history of the guild only five achieved. So they were joyed that there was another skilled guild member who could rival those people in the legends. Then he directly went to the second flower and plucked it without hesitation. Since he has already cleared the path a while ago, another flower immediately bloomed when the first illusory flower was fading. This made everyone present feel shocked; they never heard of a second flower blooming before! It only means, Ming Li completed the enlightenment at a far deeper level than those people of legends. When the second illusory flower started fading, Ming Li suddenly opened his eyes and started panting heavily. It was as if he was severely injured, but no injuries manifested in his body. He sat there panting for several breaths until the vines slowly disappeared along with the flowers. Then his complexion became ashen as he felt his body almost slumping towards the ground. By using his hands to lift his body, he noticed that there were a lot of people already watching him. Each one of them were giving him stares of amazement and curiosity, but no one uttered a word. "Come with me." a voice behind Ming Li suddenly resounded. The voice sounded familiar, it was as if he heard the voice somewhere before. When he thought about it deeply, he suddenly realized that the voice was from one of the old man who tried to seal his core to become a loyal member of the guild. Ming Li slowly turned his head along with his body towards his back, and saw a Middle aged man with noticeably brown hair with hands full of burns. Since he knew that the person talking to him was one of the leaders of the black spider guild, he immediately stood up and endured his fatigue to follow the man. The man didn't stare at him for long and immediately turned away to walk out of the hall. Seeing the old man walk away, Ming Li did not hesitate to follow him. While they were walking away, everyone began murmuring random thoughts. "After contemplating the art for 2 months straight, of course he would be admired by the Elders." "So Elder Mao Cheng is taking Ming Li as his personal disciple?" "Maybe! There had been no one who have succeeded in mastering the art the way he did." Another man said. "Or maybe he will be asked some special task since the war is near." Ming Li heard some of these and kept in mind the name of the elder, but the way they walk was fast, so he could only hear so little about the random conversations of the guild members. Ming Li was taken to the same dark room as before, but right now, the previously dark room was lit with bright light where he could see two person standing at the center of the room. When they got near, one person who looked older, but quite similar in appearance with Elder Mao Cheng said "So you are the one who made a commotion on the poison hall. Do you remember us?" Ming Li looked at the two man deeply and said with respect as he clasped his hands "Yes elders!" "Do you know why you are here?" An archaic but calm voice resounded from the remaining old man at the center of the room. Ming Li felt strong power just from his voice and he replied "Elder, actually I do not know why I am taken to this place, however, I will do whatever the elders want me to." The three looked at him meaningfully as the old man with archaic voice said "I am Mao Kang, the current head of the Mao Group, the person beside you is Mao Cheng, and the person beside me is Mao Yu. The reason we took you here is because of your deep understanding of the guild skill. You may be new to the guild, however, you are the first one to be enlightened in such a deep and profound way. Even the previous generations cannot compared to what you have achieved. So we will task you with a mission for the upcoming war. Will you help us create a poison to be used in the war, so that our chance of winning will increase!" When Ming Li heard this, his heart thumped as he smiled and replied slowly "Of course I will create a poison for the guild!" When he said those words, a weird flash appeared on his eyes. The elders didn't find anything unusual on Ming Li's expression so they simply smiled back and took Ming Li on a room deep in the guild. They traversed a small narrow stairway for several hours going down the sect. Ming Li felt the dark energy grew more dense as they went deeper on the ground. He was led into an area with a gigantic dark brown wooden door spanning 5 meters high, the door seemed old, however, getting near it made him feel extreme pressure. The pressure was so strong that he couldn't breath. It was as if he was submerged deep in the ocean where he could be crushed anytime if he went nearer the door. He immediately stepped back and moved away from the door while looking at the three elders walk towards it without much of a problem. Mao Cheng then lifted both of his arms as he touched the door. Suddenly, a torrent of energy erupted from him as he pushed the door with both hands. Veins popped out of his arms, and the door slowly opened with a creaking sound. Even though Ming Li was several meters away from the door, he clearly felt that the door was extremely hard to open, and without the same explosive power that Elder Mao Cheng was showing, it would be near impossible to open the door.

[NOTE: Ok since I am not able to bring my depressed ass to writing regularly, chapters come when they come. I can't guarantee anything, but I'll try to make chapters more frequent. Btw. In my opinion, my writing gets better after like chapter 6, so I recommend reading at least this far.]

Shattered Realms - A Pathfinder/D&D game
Broke adventurers looking for a quick and easy paycheck are thrust together as circumstances around them get weirder and weirder. Authors note: This is an ongoing Pathfinder (DnD) game, which will inevitably contain references to other works due to the nature of nerds. Chapters will be random lengths, mostly as long as a game session and depending on how much I can embelish it. Also, some details may change retroactively to maintain consistency. I'm not going to write it as LitRPG, mostly because that's extra work. I'd rather the flow of the story not be interrupted by numbers. I am aiming for updates within a week or two of the game session, which will usually be weekly. Finally, there is a light swearing, gore and sexual references warning. I will update this warning if needed, but will also not write in anything that's too graphic or irrelevant to the story.
