《The Heavens Shall Fall》Chapter 39: Dippy

Everyone trembled when they heard Ming Li's words. The black robed man stood with imposing aura as if he was waiting for everyone to kneel and beg for their lives. Ming Li knelt and threw a cube towards the black robe man as he said "Young master, please spare my life." The black robe man nodded in response and took Ming Li's cube. Everyone that saw his actions felt that they should do the same to save their lives. One by one they knelt and begged for their lives as they offer their cubes. Ming Li grinned while facing the ground as the black robed man collected their cube. The black robed man then looked at everyone with a cold gaze and said "I am aware that this is not everything you have, however I will make sure that you suffer if I am not pleased with the contents of your cube. So make sure that the amount in here is worth your life!" Ming Li didn't want to corner the merchants more, but he already robbed the group out of rage and could only see it through the end. He already robbed them a bit so he thought, why not get the most out of it. Everyone shuddered and some pulled out another cube and passed it to the black robed man. They were a bit hesitant and suspicious, because they cannot find any other person accompanying this person from the black spider guild. However they did not dare to act rashly and end up regretting their actions in the end, so they willingly cooperated. Since Ming Li felt everyone's suspicion, he made the black robe man coldly glare at everyone again as if he was ready to slaughter anyone who causes a single sound. When Ming Li was sure that everyone was feeling nervous, he made the black robe man walk away towards the rocky terrain leaving everyone in fear. Everyone sighed in relief including Ming Li when the black robed man left. Ming Li then looked at everyone and said. "We are so unlucky, I have no more soul ores left." The merchants felt gloomy and didn't utter a word as they slowly walked away towards the town. Ming Li on the other hand walked in a different direction acting dispirited. When everyone was gone, he summoned the black robed man and made it walk towards him. This is the first time he tried to control the black robed man, so he never expected it to go so well. If the seekers guarding the merchants decided to attack the black robed man, he would surely perish. Even though Ming Li can fully control the man, he cannot use his skill and strength to fight. Using the black robed man's strength would require demonic energy which Ming Li does not the luxury to use. The good thing is that he does't require demonic energy to just casually control the man. The man seems to be too weak compared to the puppet, so it could not even dare to fight back the puppet. Ming Li had gathered all of the cube the man got from the merchants and laughed loudly. His eyes flashed with greed as he checked every cube. He was a bit disappointed when he saw some of the cube. Most of it has not much soul ores. The highest has 50 thousand and the lowest has 20 thousand. There are random herbs and items in the merchant's cube, but it wasn't much. Even the demon's grace inside of it was only six. He never expected much out of those merchants, but for them to act so conceited and charge him with unfair price made him think that they might have a good amount. Overall he got six cubes, which didn't make him feel satisfied. He resorted to robbery and would only gather so little. He sighed and looked at the black robed man. Then he controlled it and made it do stupid things which made his mood slightly better. With his mood lifted up, he stared seriously at the black robed man while in deep thought. His brows knitted while thinking, then suddenly his face brightened and said "Since you look stupid because you can't think, I will call you Dippy." Ming Li felt pleased with his naming sense and after playing for a while, he made the man enter the space of the book. It seems that anyone controlled by the puppet can freely enter and exit the space. Ming Li then tapped his cube and gathered all of his demon's grace. He glanced at the demon's grace and with a resolute expression, he started creating demonic nature's dew. While traveling, he would often absorb demonic nature's dew. This continued for several days which made him increase his level by one, however this increase in level was achieved by completely consuming all of his demon's grace. Ming Li felt crestfallen, he never thought that his need for demon's grace would dramatically increase when he became a seeker. If he could only puke the fruit he ate just to get his normal core back, he would do it without a second thought. The only good thing that happened was that he caught sight of a large town nearby. Strangely, the town was built above a low plateau and it was densely packed with trees. From afar people could visually see the dense natural energy the place is emitting. It felt like all the natural energy in the place was focused on the town for some unknown reason. Ming Li rushed near the outskirts of the town and had Dippy check around. Everything that Dippy saw were transmitted to the puppet where Ming Li could also see it through their connection. This became an extremely useful ability for Ming Li, this is only a scrape of what the puppet can do, but Ming Li is nowhere near the necessary strength to totally subdue the puppet and use all of its abilities. Dippy walked around the town and asked around if there is a base of black spider guild nearby. Luckily, even the town has members of black spider guild they were only passing by and they have no power in this town. Ming Li brimmed with joy when he discovered that this is the place where the Main Crystal Leaf sect is located. He had long since decided to go to the main sect to boost his strength while hiding from the Black Spider Guild. When he confirmed his safety in the town, he entered it and made dippy go back to the puppet. Along the way, he saw that the town is named Garden of Life. Ming Li thought that the whole place was too big to be considered a garden, but he can't do anything about the name of the town. He felt bothered with this because he was unusually proud of his naming sense, and felt that he could name the town better. He directly went into the Crystal Leaf sect entrance to avoid further trouble. Awe filled his thoughts when he saw the majestic entrance of the sect. The door and walls stood tall and sturdy. It was completely made of crystal, but for some unknown reason he can't see through it. When he looked at it closely, he saw thousands of crystal leaf piled together to create the wall and door. His eyes went wind and his jaw dropped. He cannot imagine how much crystal leaf it took to create the walls and the door. The amount of crystal leaf he can see may reach millions! Ming Li could't help but be amazed on how long it took the sect to create so many crystal leaf. Each crystal leaf seem to contain dangerous skills that could injure him. He studied the wall for a bit and decided that he should immediately enter the sect. Near the door, a person sat motionlessly staring at people passing by. Ming Li called the attention of the man and showed the crystal leaf emblem he got from the branch sect. The man looked at Ming Li deeply and said "Entry Denied."

After experiencing five years of an adventurer's life, Arcanist Sylar Wershin now spends his days catching up on developments in Essence Studies and teasing apart the functions of arcane trinkets and artifacts discovered by him and his companions throughout their time travelling the realms of Resham. An unexpected accident during the study of his latest subject of intrigue, however, displaces him across the Planes beyond what any known spell is capable of achieving. Now finding himself lost in a realm rich in previously-limited Transcendental Essences, however, does he truly even want to return back to his old world? If nothing else, plagiarising - ahem, learning new spell structures by observing the local mages should prove entertaining. Sure, there were new dangers in this foreign world, but they wouldn't be anything a fancy bit of spellwork couldn't solve. Though, he would appreciate it greatly if someone could explain to him just what this 'cultivation' business was, why the local Mages were all muscle-brained freaks obsessed with immortality, and why they all seemed to lack any appreciation for the finer details of Essence manipulation. That would be nice.

Demon Blade
Ryuken is your average 15-year old high schooler, living his life in an ordinary way, until he comes across a mysterious katana and is pulled into the world of unbelievable supernatural. An anime-inspired passion project of mine, sparked from my childhood love of shounen anime. I have big plans for this world but we'll see if I get to stick around long enough to finish it.Enjoy! Notes: 1. My writing style is mostly script-like with some 3rd person-ish narrative sprinkled in, and it is VERY dialogue-heavy. 2. It can be pretty slow, as I tend to focus more on characters rather than action. 3. Since the story is set in Japan with Japanese characters, I will be using Japanese honorifics whenever the characters are interacting with each other. To learn more about Japanese Honorifics, you can go to this website here. I apologize if I used them wrongly, or if I forgot to use them from time to time, or if it turns you off. 4. I don't have a fixed release schedule as I don't have time to write regularly at the moment. I may update tomorrow or next year. Who knows. I'm like your dad who's gone to the store for some milk. I'll be back. Cover Source
