《The Heavens Shall Fall》Chapter 28: Cave

Ming Li was now far away from the town. He decided not to go back since he had too many enemies in the River Saint town. He also decided not to enter any town for the meantime to avoid being caught by his enemies. He knew that every guild have some sort of connection to nearby towns. So his best move for the moment was to lay low in the forest while making his way into the main Crystal Leaf Sect! Since he has a crystal leaf emblem and learned the sect arts, he could try to use his abilities to rise into prominence in the main sect and gain protection from the sect itself. In the branch sect, he was chased out before he can even firmly establish himself to gain enough connection and backing. Because he was being chased by an entire guild, he has no choice but to rely on an organization with equal or better power than his enemy. Ten days have passed since he left the previous town and passed by another town. After traveling such a long distance, everything around him was a rocky terrain. The rocks protruded from the land, towering more than three meters, creating a forest of rocks. The whole area seemed to be lacking in natural energy, since he can't really absorb natural energy, he decided to continue taking the path, it would also be a good route to avoid humans. Without even thinking much about it, Ming Li strode into the forest of rocks. Inside the forest, the natural energy seemed to lessen as he goes deeper. He didn't even see any animals or monsters along the way. Even animals would not like to live in a place without natural energy. While walking for several days, Ming Li's eyes went wide as he stumbled onto a weird monster. The monster's body was covered with black rocks and it had four eyes. It's size was same as of a fully grown tiger. However what truly shocked him wasn't the monster, but the dense demonic energy coming from the cave the monster was guarding. For Ming Li, demonic energy is extremely precious. Even though the monster seemed weird and scary, he doesn't care much. All he wanted to do was to exterminate the monster as soon as possible, so he can absorb all the demonic energy in the cave. He observed the monster for a while to see what it will do when it wakes up. If ever the monster leaves the place to hunt for food, it would give him an opportunity to investigate the cave. Three days have passed, but the monster didn't even move an inch. It stayed asleep like a lazy cat beside the cave. "What the hell, doesn't that thing gets hungry?" On the fourth day, the monster woke up and lazily lied on the floor staring at the distance. Ming Li felt annoyed by the monster. It never moved an inch and seemed to be daydreaming. Another two days passed and the monster didn't stood up. It just stayed there yawning or glancing around lazily. Ming Li's patience was almost at it's limit, because the monster seemed like it could lie there for months. His eyes became bloodshot while looking at the cave full of demonic energy. He seemed like a person with extreme addiction who would kill for his vice. Ming Li felt restless and wanted to attack the monster every time it lazily yawned When he saw the monster trying its best to lift up its eyes to avoid falling asleep, he was enraged beyond words. "I will kill this lazy bum!" Ming Li patience snapped and he rushed to the monster. He doesn't even care anymore about it's strength, all he wanted to do was kill the lazy thing. Ming Li's eyes burned with rage as he activated torment. The sphere of symbols directly hit the monster which made it roar in extreme pain. He was fully aware that torment might not be too effective with this monster, so he activated water shield and crushed two crystal leaf. His rage towards the creature and his desire to know what is inside the cave made him determined to slug it to death with the monster. He shot the two crystal leaf energy towards the monster while it was being affected by torment. The monster's eyes became bloodshot as it dodge the crystal leaf attacks. Its lazy appearance suddenly changed into something frightening. Every black stone in its body turned into spikes, it's teeth grew longer and it's eyes became fierce. Ming Li gaped in shock of the sudden transformation of the previously lazy monster. He never thought that something that looked so lazy could turn into something viscous. However his anger towards the monster was greater than his fear. He crushed two more crystal leaf and attacked the monster. The torment didn't fully demobilize it, so it still managed to block Ming Li's attack. When he saw his attacks being blocked, he felt the urgency to kill the monster. If the monster managed to break free from torment, he would surely die instantly. His eyes flashed with resolve and he pulled out numerous crystal leaf then began using them nonstop. Various skills bombarded the monster. Even though a single skill have no effect on it, Ming Li's barrage of attack wasn't a thing it can simply block. Slowly the monster was pushed back and injures appeared on its body as it wailed in pain. It tried to fight back several times, however it's attack only brushed Ming Li and didn't do any serious damage. After almost 50 crystal leaf was used by Ming Li, the monster finally fell on its feet. When Ming Li saw this, he did not stop attacking, instead he attacked more viciously aiming at vital points. His hatred for the monster was so great that only when it's head was crushed did Ming Li stop his attacks. This encounter almost exhausted his crystal leaf supply. He felt bitter after the fight when he realized how much crystal leaf he consumed. Only when he looked at the dead body of the beast and remembered it's lazy appearance made him feel that what he did was worth it. After a bit of regret he looked for the core of the monster. With it's head blasted open, he easily found the core, however it looked a bit different compared to all the monster core he had. It also felt a bit demonic like his core. "Could it be that the monster transmogrified into a demon because it lived near a large supply of demonic energy?" Without much knowledge in demons, he decided to put aside his curiosity for the meantime and focus on checking the cave. When he stepped near the cave, dense demonic energy brushed through him. He instantly forgot his regrets on using numerous crystal leaf to get rid of the monster. His core hummed with excitement and every time Ming Li breathes, demonic energy get absorbed by his core. His fatigue disappeared like he slept for days. Every time he walked deeper into the cave, he felt his energy increasing. The whole place was like paradise for Ming Li. Inside the cave he saw a corpse, It looked like a human however it was a bit taller than ordinary humans and its skin was deep red in color. Ming Li's scalp went numb when he went closer to the body. Even though it was dead, he clearly felt how terrifyingly strong the creature was. It might be even stronger than his master when it was alive. He inspected the body thoroughly, but he found out that its core was already pulled out along with its veins. Every blood on it's body was already drained and only flesh and bones remained. He also discovered that all the demonic energy in the cave came from the corpse. Only a very small amount of demonic energy was being released by the corpse, however Ming Li was sure that the demonic energy came from it. He cannot tell how long the corpse was lying inside this cave, but he can tell that it was in the cave for unimaginable amount of time. He was surprised that after a long time nobody took the corpse. Also it seems like only a few people ever stepped into the cave. He came to a conclusion that maybe the humans who came to this cave cannot feel demonic energy, and was unable to identify the terrifying nature of the corpse. "Is this a demon?" Ming Li deeply wondered. He haven't seen any demon in his entire life, so he wasn't sure if the corpse was actually a demon. The only thing that made him think that it was a demon was the fact that it emitted demonic energy from it's body. Based on the remaining demonic energy on it's body, Ming Li concluded that it had boundless amount of demonic energy when it was alive, that up until now it still has a very small amount of demonic energy left. Ming Li suddenly thought of something, then he grabbed the cube from Ru Gao and contracted it. He swiped his hands attempting to make the corpse float. With it being a dead body with almost no energy left, Ming Li was able to lift it with some effort. He activated his Cube and shoved the corpse inside of it. His face was filled with anticipation. It was the first time he tried to put a body inside of cube, so he wasn't sure if it could actually work. When it's head touched the Cube, it was easily absorbed. Ming Li was amazed that a body can be stored inside the cube. He observed it for a while and noticed that there seems to be no rejection from the cube. He also noticed that the demonic energy emitted from the corpse was being trapped inside the cube, and the energy seemed to be unaffected by the slow movement of time inside. With this new discovery, he could not help but smile like an idiot. Since he can contain the small amount of demonic energy left in the corpse inside the cube, he can use the demonic energy in critical moment and serve as a trump card whenever he needed to absorb it. He felt that the demonic energy left that he can absorb from the corpse still exceeds twenty demon's grace! He laughed loudly when he thought about how lucky he was to stumble upon such treasure. Also with the dense demonic energy left in the cave, he can possibly reach the tenth level after absorbing all of it, which made him extremely excited.

The Last Journey
A slice of life litrpg story... or is it? It's burning slow, though. Moving on: War comes with a great cost. Lives and time wasted for most part. One could either be run with sword, be poisoned, be bowed, and sometimes meet their end with just a tiny speck of wood. With magic, it becomes even more colorful. From lightning, to worse poison, to hovering rocks, to weird bladed leaves, to whipping roots, and to a lot more odd things easily reasoned with magic. A wonderful creation. But once used to something more than wonder, more than tricks to gather laughs, it becomes worse. War becomes worse. For there is not only blood to be spilled. A particular town almost met the same end. Soldiers geared with swrords and bows came with mounts. Horses burning lush grasses as it cracked boulders and the soil alike with every step. The kind that only war ones could ever do. Even strange wheeled creations that oozed danger were towed, loaded with something meant to destroy. But not once had they acted upon what such devices should've done, nor what an an army is supposed to do. Siege never occurred, as much as a command to war. No. Magic existed so a simple little fire is all the worth the town has. No sword drawn, no arrows nocked, nothing. Just some mana spent and through the ash they march. That was how Nudius saw her end. It came not even as a surprise. She didn't have the moment to fully register what occurred before she found herself in an empty dark space. Life lost, time spent. All from a fire that had not even touched her. But she knew very well that it was magic. Something she wished to have and strived for to have. Yet it seemed that none of it would matter now. Nudius was well aware of what the color around meant, of the odd situation, of the unfeeling state of her being. It was death and that was it. She didn't have to worry or dream further. Although there wasn't what she truly wanted in what death to her is, but at least, Nudius was comforted to what she believed death is. Rest. But little did she know there's something more than that empty space. It wasn't only the promise of rest, but was also more than she could ever hope for. Another chance at life. Another chance to dream. ***Tags are there just in case. You never know! Umm... HI-MI-TSU. Story blurb+: This is slow burn, quite slice of life story about a girl learning magic. All the while as she fatten herself up. So yeah, progression fantasy. But there's Litrpg! Numbers! Magic! Spells! And of course! There's something more. But read on ahead, please. Oh yes. Plot! There is, too. Disclaimer: The cover isn't made by me. Just layered it with a text. I got it from a free website, if I correctly recall. I'll see to it. (Haven't worked on it.)
