《The Heavens Shall Fall》Chapter 15: Torment

Ming Li sat crossed legged inside the mansion. Since he can't get out of the mansion, he decided to train and wait for the spell covering the mansion to dissipate on its own. Luckily, he has a lot of food inside his cube which can last for a month. He tried to activate the art he just got. Several pattern came out of his body as it floated an inch above his skin. He felt extreme pain and suffering. His heart felt heavy and at it felt like it was about to tear apart. Something inside him immediately understood that this was part of the effect of his art. Then he gritted his teeth and withstood the sorrow and pain. Days passed. He continuously trained the art, as time passed, he slowly got used to the pain. He can now maintain a calm expression while wielding the art. "This really is a unique art, I can't believe I actually created an art." "I should create a skill to utilize the art. My powerlessness is unacceptable. I need to become stronger to survive. Also, my master's last words were for me to not indulge myself in revenge. I will do my masters wish but I will also make sure that if I ever have the chance, I will kill those damn bastards who did this." He gritted his teeth and started contemplating the art. He tried several methods to release the art but he always failed. It was his first time creating a skill so he has no idea where to start. He thought of ways to channel the pain and sorrow he felt into an attack, so he has been doing several poses and hand sign which he invented but no change occurred. With all the failure, he felt like an idiot which made him depressed. There were some moments that he felt that there was a slight reaction on the symbols when he puts his focus on it. "It seems like this symbols are the one that gives me pain. I need to have full control of this symbol and think of a way to control the level of pain" A month passed since the incident and he was still stuck inside the mansion. All of his supply of food were exhausted and he haven't eaten for five days. The only good thing was that he has little advancement in the skill he was creating. He felt dejected for being useless and can't proceed with the training since he was starving and he can't find food inside the mansion. "Damn, I never thought I'll die of hunger." When the night came and when he was about to sleep, he looked outside and saw the body of his master still kneeling on the ground lifeless. "Forgive me master, I just recently considered you as my master and it all ended after just a single day." While looking at his master and reminiscing his training as an alchemist, a gleam appeared in his eyes. He grabbed his furnace and some herbs then sat down "Why haven't I thought of it sooner, I'm an alchemist. So I can create a pill to ease my hunger for days!" He then started creating pills. One by one, pills were created, he immediately consumed a pill and felt full. "So eating pills do work. Maybe I should think of a way to add flavor so I can enjoy my pill better. I'm such a genius!" Another month passed. Ming Li can be seen inside controlling various symbols floating above his hands forming a sphere. He has now a small control over the art and created a way to channel it to use it as an attack. He was overjoyed by his achievement, but he could not actually try the skill since he had no living target. Once the skill hits an object it just swirled around the object and does not do anything to it. He waa getting impatient being trapped inside the mansion, so he decided to start attacking the window again. When he was about to attack the window, he noticed that the roots were moving backwards! He excitedly ran near the window and observed the roots. When he verified that the roots were really dissappearing, he waited eagerly like a kid who wanted to play outside. When the roots were completely gone, he opened the windows and jumped from it. The first thing he did was rush to his master and kneeled infront of him and apologized. He wept for a day creating a small pool of tears in the ground. He knew that crying would do nothing good, but he still could not help himself from doing so. When the day went by, he decided to bury his master on the spot. Then he placed a wine and planted a seed directly above the resting place of his master, then placed a clean gravestone he carved himself. He bowed several times and proceeded to the center of the village, where saw several corpse of the villagers and buried them one by one. It took him fifteen days to bury everyone. Luckily, He learned a skill which allows him to soften the ground and have little control over it which he used for planting. He used this to dig thousand of graves for the Villagers. He made each and everyone one a tombstone even if he doesn't know some of their names. He then bowed at each and every tombstone saying his prayers. Then left the town going deep into the forest. While he was in the forest strolling, a group of three blocked his path. They carried sharp weapons and radiated dangerous aura. Ming Li's aura changed as he felt the danger of the situation. These three were clearly stronger than him. They were around 6th level beginner's realm. "Hey kid since you are wearing nice clothes you must be rich. Can you give us some spare soul ores?" The man with a huge scar on his face said while playing with his sword. Ming Li felt furious when he saw the man since he has almost the same scar as the man who fought his master. He wasn't in a good mood to begin with, but seeing this man and being robbed made him feel engraged. He composed himself and exhaled heavily. After regaining his composure, he decided to avoid any fight, and took out a big bag of soul ores which he threw at the man. After which, he silently walked passed the three men trying to get away. One of the three blocked his way again. This man was skinny and carries a spear. "Hey you only gave our brother soul ores. What about me?" Ming Li was getting pissed, but he remained calm and pulled out another bag of soul ores. He has a lot of soul ores since he has been doing business in the town for three whole years. He also brought all the treasure in the village because he thought that it will just be looted by bandits. So he can bear to part with a small amount of soul ores to avoid trouble. When he walked away, the third man with huge build walked infront of him while laughing and said "This is so unfair young master. Where is my share in this?" Veins started to appear in Ming Li's forehead as he was enraged, but for the third time, he managed to remain calm and again produced a bag of soul ores for the third guy. He was not the type to give away soul ores, since he has been obsessed with gaining wealth since young. However, he knew that it would be dangerous to fight these three men who was stronger by him in level. Ming Li sighed and again tried to walk away. Suddenly, the three started laughing and said "Do you think this is enough. Hand over everything you got or else we'll be forced to hurt you" Ming Li couldn't hold it anymore. Symbols appeared in his body which made him feel great pain. He pointed at the man with scar and said "Torment". An orb consisting of symbols formed at the tip of his finger and shot directly at the man. The man was taken by surprise; He never thought that Ming Li wold actually attack. Raising his arms, he tried to block the attack with his sword but he was too late and it hit his shoulder. The symbols rapidly spread to the body of the man. He screeched from pain and he felt that his muscles were being ripped and hundreds of his bones were being crushed. Everything around him became blurry as he lost sense of what was happening and only felt extreme pain. He felt starving and his mouth was dry. Fatigue filled his body as if he haven't slept for months. Several type of physical suffering was being directed at his body at once which made him unable to think. Ming Li watched him as he grovel in the ground trying to withstand the pain. Then Ming Li thought "So this is what my skill can do huh? So the skill only manifested as bodily pain but I think it multiplied several times the bodily pain i feel" The man continuously shrieked and his body started to deteriorate. The other two stared in terror. It was the first time seeing such terrifying skill. Even Ming Li was shocked when he saw the deterioration. "So does extreme pain makes the body fail and cause it to deteriorate? I need to study this skill more." At the sight of their brother slowly dying, they were enraged to the point of losing temper, they quickly draw their weapons to attack Ming Li.

So I'm a cat, what now?
It seems I've reincarnated into a fantasy world as a cat. What now? This is my first publically published story, and I would love feedback in any form as I have no idea how well the quality of my writing holds up. This story will have light litRPG elements, though I won't dig into numbers much, since I don't enjoy fiddling with them. The tone will be generally light, and I willl probably try to throw some comedy in there as well. The beginning will be Slice of Life, and unless I come up with a longer plot that I like it will stay that way.

World Master
Hey! I once lived on your world back in 2056. But that was a long time ago and there’s probably no records of my existence. Or, maybe, I haven’t even been born yet… …I’m still figuring out of the timelines correspond. Anyways, I was or will be, or whatever you want to call it (maybe I am?), John Pitcher, a resident at St. Jude’s Hospital for the Mentally Ill. I was a computer programmer and my parents had me admitted there because I was convinced that I had been contacted by Set, the Egyptian god of chaos, about creating a world. Well, apparently, I’m something akin to the great times a hundred grandson of over 10 000 gods, and they didn’t want me to live an ordinary, dull life (well, except for the god of normalcy, but he doesn’t count). Set gave me three years to prepare myself. This begins right at the end of those three years. [participant in the NaNoWriMo Royal Road challenge] I originally had this as part of the prologue, then I realized that it made a better synopsis. Please note: this might seem a bit clunky because I haven't done a lot of writing, and this is supposed to be a kind of prequel to another story that I plan on doing in the future. I will not be fully explaining everything but instead will be explaining things in that other story. This is mainly to help fill in the lore of the world so that people will have at least a basic idea of how things function. Regardless of that, that story won't be written for at least another year, so deal with it. Note: I am using ideas from several different authors in order to make sure that this can be a proper story. You may or may not recognize where I got them. I am not writing a Fanfiction and do not claim these as my own. I will add to a list of titles below as I find myself using those ideas. World Keeper (obviously) The Wandering Inn The Legend of Randidly Ghosthound (not yet, but eventually) A bunch of others that I haven't thought of yet
