“Monday’s form r-99 is missing,” Wednesday announced.

Tuesday feigned a gasp. “Oh, no.”

“It’s a clue. Whoever took him took the form too.”

“What makes you think someone took Monday?”

“Because Monday would never have taken the r-99 himself,” Wednesday said.

“I’ll probably regret asking this, but; what is the r-99?”

“It’s the form he signs each day at the beginning of the day.”

Tuesday rolled her chair back and stood up. “What for?”

“I don’t know, he just does. It’s important.”

Tuesday shuffled out of her cubicle past Wednesday. “Right.”

“It is,” Wednesday said with a confidence he wasn’t confident he should have.

“You ever see this r-99 form, Friday?”

Friday looked up over his monitor. “Nope.”

“Every evening, I neatly stack all of the required forms and place them on Monday’s desk for him to complete the next day.”

“Seems silly,” Friday said.

“Sure does,” Tuesday said and walked to the end of the cubicle row.

“Well, they’re required,” Wednesday said. “And as the leader, it’s his job to complete them.”

Tuesday returned to her cubicle with a short stack of papers from the printer.

Wednesday eyed the paper. “What’s that?”

“It’s a flyer I made for the party.”

“What party?”

“The one tomorrow. The one you’d know about if you hadn’t left the meeting yesterday.”

“How can you possibly have a party while Captain Monday is missing?”

Tuesday handed a paper to Friday and then to Wednesday. “He’ll probably be back.”
