《She, the one (old)》Chapter twelve: Deus ex machina

I let myself rest a bit for now. I’m not sure what should I do, I’ll have to find a way for myself. Usually in stories every hero or character has an aim or purpose, but no matter how much I try to understand why, I’m not able to.
If God would tell me to do something I would not give a shit. I don’t really believe in fate or thing like that. I mean, our universe works following it’s own laws. Even in this world magic should follow the laws of this universe.
If there is an entity calling himself god achieving unimaginable things, that would mean they understand the magic, and can fully utilise it.
If you speak about God, you usually mean the entity that created us and/or the world. They are entities with enough power to that. Nothing more.
If you speak about fate, it’s means following the laws of the universe. If you have enough information, you can predict future. If I ran out of food, I’ll get some. This is a prediction. If there is an entity that can predict the movements of all atoms in this world, that means they can predict the future of this world. Not the best example, I know.
It’s sounds crazy for us, mortals, but it’s the truth. If I’ll manage to understand magic at least the level of my otherworldly knowledge, I would count as a god I fear. Scary. I don’t want to hunted by gods and god wannabes. Not that it’s even possible.
Let’s leave these thoughts. I should leave after lootin-, I mean searching this house for useful things. They won’t mind it I hope.
But where to? I really have no idea. I shouldn’t have disturbed my thoughts with useless thinking. Let’s just go towards the beast country. I’ll have more opportunities there.

I’ve found many different maps here, but all of them are useless. Maybe if I look a little bit deeper in those paper stacks… A lady always desires for more and better. No, this sounds like I’m arrogant. Well, I’m a bit.
After some digging I find an old, aged paper. As I scan through it I understand why there are no normal maps in this world. Humas can’t go high enough to know how a real map should look like. Disappointing.
I gather all of the useful ones around myself, and decide to do it myself. Using the biggest unused paper I could find and some ink, I try to merge the maps together in my head.
Useless, they are all rubbish, crap, trash. My head hurts looking at the many totally different maps. After hours of trying I somehow manage to put together a basic map, full of holes and mistakes. Is this a mental attack against me?

Finally! Done! I’ll kill myself if this is not good enough! It feels good being successful in this impossible task. I feel that I accomplished something great!
A small noise disturbs my celebration. I hear someone knocking on the door. Three knocks then silence, like nothing happened. Since I’m on the upper floor I run to the window and try to look towards the front door.
There is no one there. Somebody knocked on this door, then left. Why? The small paper on the ground should answer that. That was not there before.
I slowly walk down the stairs, trying to figure out who could manage to escape my senses this easily. Are they after me? How could they find me?
I grab the door handle but suddenly stop. The still naked cliché. How boring. But I don’t really have any clothes. Maybe there are some in the house?

Searching for a while I found a quite good robe. No underwear unfortunately, I’ll cry. I don’t want to be an exhibitionist. Or do they say commando nowadays? Ahw, mind, stop it. I’ll have to bear with it. It’s more comfortable this way.
Putting the robe on me, even my hands are covered. The color of my face is not hidden well, but at least they won’t notice it unless they are standing in front of me. I walk to the door, open it and pick the paper from the ground. I slip back just the same. Wasn’t this door closed? Anyways, inside I recognise that it’s a letter, or a messánge. Both actually.
[Dear world traveller
If you have nowhere to go, head to the Astreal Academy and wait for me there. I can answer some of the questions you have. Use this introduction letter. -Tetra]
Great. Some mysterious letter, to a place I know nothing about from a person I know nothing about. This’ll go so well! Just like my other plans. But… They know something, and they named me as a world traveller. I’m not. They are both dead, and I’m a different person. or Demon. Where is this place anyway? I read about it somewhere…
Ah! It’s the neutral academy north to the beast country. It certainly seems trustworthy, and my instincts are telling me to accept. I already know bad things happens when I’m not listening to it.
I really have to go there in the end… I don’t have any other way. Maybe lady luck will pity me a little.
Hey, isn’t today full of cliché and deus ex machina? I’m scared. I just said my opinion of god, but if I’m wrong god is angry right now. Not that I care...

Touch
Touch is a story about a boy named James, and his friends: a group of young, superpowered people brought together by trauma; all trying, in their own ways, to come to terms with what that trauma means to them and who they want to be in response to it. This is a learning process, and mistakes are made, but they grow, learn, and adapt to these difficulties in ways that some might say only young people can. While it may look it at first, this is not intended as a sad story, merely an honest one. I wanted to make the characters human, and unfortunately, that means that difficulties hit them in very real ways through the story, but then again, they have some equally human moments of warmth between one another as they grow. Triggers: Explores the aftereffects and recovery process of sexual abuse, and some other forms of physical abuse. I like to think I avoided making it edgy, but you deserve to be informed. Some readers have told me that it can feel a bit too real at times. A bit too honest. If you like what you read, feel free to comment or review. I like the feedback.
