《An Unusual Town》Chapter 30 : Moving Forward Without Information

Moving Forward Without Information
“Sigh…” I placed the pen down and stretched my arms. Moving the Skull Ball Tournament to the end of this week was taxing and required a lot of logistics. I glanced at Zara who was reading some documents in the corner of the room. “Zara it’s time for the meeting with the Counsel.”
“… Of course.” She placed the documents down and followed me out the door. The meeting this time would probably be the most annoying one so far. [ Really don’t want to go. ]
I opened the door and then stopped. “Zara, your seat will be on the exact opposite side of mine.” She nodded as we walked in. “Sigh…” Taking my seat I looked up to see everyone watching me in silence. The room had more people in it than normal. “… Thank you for coming to this meeting. I would like to start by saying that Mr. Jim will be retiring and Miss. Zara will be taking his place. Please get along with her as this is her first meeting.”
“Nice to meet you.” Zara nodded her head in greeting to the Counsel members.
“Right, now I would like to go over a few thing during this meeting. First the hole has been filled up and I would like all of you to help by telling anyone who asks about it that it was an illusion. Don’t get to detailed as it will help to mask the lie. Any questions?” The room was dead quite. Several people were sitting like statues refusing to blink. “… What’s wrong?” Everyone was silent. “Speak.”
The gargoyle shifted uncomfortably under my gaze. “Ahem, well…” He stopped looking unsure of how to continue.
“The Counsel heard about the incident this morning Master Kaz.” Akuji coldly stated. “When they did they asked to see the scene to assess the situation themselves. So I showed them.” Several of the Counsel members’ faces paled as they remembered the scene.
“Pffft, I see. Well it is nothing special. I mealy extracted punishment for the rules that they broke. I was going to bring it up later in on.”
“M-My I hear the rules that were broken?” The Fae asked.
I smiled. “Why certainly. First, they built a building without going through the proper procedures. Second, they started a conflict with the Witch Coven. Third, they insulted and attacked me. Multiple times.”
“I-I see…”
“Well this situation wouldn’t have occurred in the first place if the Wizards were handled properly when they arrived. I also had to find out about them from Miss. Mori as none of you deemed it worthy of me knowing a disagreement of this scale was happening. Not that it changes anything now. However I do hope you keep in mind that this could happen to any of you should you brake the rules like the Wizards did.” I smiled sweetly causing a few of the council members to flinch.
“Any other questions about this matter before I continue?” Everyone stayed silent. “Good then lets move on. I have asked someone to go and investigate the Human’s Sanctuary that was built. News about it should arrive tonight. However I would like your thoughts about it.”
“I see no reason why this Sanctuary is so important.” The Vampire stated in a soft voice.
“Well it interests me how they are able to keep the Zombies at bay. Hopefully we will be able to get some answers. If it goes well they might even have a way to get rid of them.”

“But aren’t the Zombies Immortal?” Asked Seth who had a calico cat draped across his shoulders. [ That’s an interesting pair… ]
“For the most part about one in five are immortal. So I’m hoping that they know how to tell them apart.”
“…”
“Don’t worry this information comes from a very reliable source.”
“I see. My I know who it was?” The gargoyle asked as he rolled a couple of stones in his hand.
“World renowned Alchemist Nicholas Flamel.” Feeling great discomfort when I answered the question especially at that
‘world renowned’ part.
“WHAT?!” A couple of people shouted in surprise.
[ Sigh… ] “The information was told to me while I was on vacation.”
“I-I see, well thats good to know.” The rocks that were in the gargoyle’s hands were now nothing but dust.
“If that is so then we can form teams to go out and destroy the normal Zombies. It doesn’t matter if 20% of them are immortal.” Said the vampire.
“I don’t see how this is a good idea.” The protest came from the fae.
“Nonsense my dear. It is a perfect idea. Right now we have the Court of Life breathing down our backs. If we send people out to hunt down the non-immortal ones then we can lessen their suspicion on us. We will just have to see who would like to take on the job.” The Vampire sipped from her wine glass.
“But Nox its still to dangerous. Even if you forget the fact that the Zombies are all over the world now and not only in this area how are we to handle the immortal Zombies when they come? It seems to be an impossible task.” The fae questioned.
“Sigh, really now. For now we can just have the teams run away from the ones that are immortal. Plus it takes time for the Zombies to regenerate. If done correctly the team will be able to get away in time. As for it being all over the world we could just have the Coven set up rotating portals.” Nox slid her finger along the rim of her glass.
“… I see no issue with setting up rotating portals for people to use however there will be limitations. For one when the portal is set up it will be made so that no dead can enter that means that the Vampires can not go through. Isn’t this a bit to convenient for your people?” Akuji sated with a stony face.
“Oh my, I didn’t think of that. Well it looks like we will not be able to help out due to unprecedented circumstances. It will be unfortunate but I see nothing that my people can do to counter this.”
“What do you mean unfortunate? You are planning for this aren’t you leach?!” Seth growled in irritation.
“How rude mutt. It is not my plan but a physical incapability to due what will be required.”
“Grrrr…”
“Now, now dear. Leave the walking fossil alone. We all know that those creatures have no since of honor.” The calico cat slowly transformed into a beautiful woman that was sitting on Seth’s lap.
“Ching!” Seth looked horrified at his nude wife.
“How indecent.” Nox frowned while watching Ching. “I had no idea that half-breeds where aloud to attend meetings.”
“Oh ho, well maybe it’s because I’m just special.”
“Special indeed.”
“Ahem, getting back on topic I can see how having teams to go out and exterminate the non-immortal Zombies is a good idea. However how should it be set up?” The fea cut in.

“… How about we have one team from each clan here. It would be a nice balance then so that we all share responsibility.” Suggested the gargoyle.
“That’s an excellent idea. However I do believe that we Vampires will be sitting this one out.”
“Oh I didn’t know that Nosferatu where afraid of the undead. Is it some sort of self loathing or complex that your species carry?” Ching asked with slitted eyes and a wide smile.
“Excuse me?” Nox set her drink down and glared at Ching.
“Did you not hear me? I asked if you were afraid to face your undead cousins in battle. It is only fair I suppose. They are very similar to yourself. It would be like killing a brother. Wouldn’t is?” Seth watched his wife in horror as she spoke.
“Ching sto…”
“Hahahaha, so that festering excuse of an undead creature is like a brother to me, is it? My, my what a thing to say. Those brainless walking masses of meat have nothing in common with my people.”Nox’s voice was dark.
“Pfft, if you say so.” Ching rolled her eyes. “Seth and I will have a group ready by the end of the day.” Nox was shaking in anger.
“… I will also have a group ready by then.” Announced the fae.
“As will I.” Confirmed the gargoyle.
“I will have to talk with Master before accepting.” Zara lightly said.
“…” Akuji turned to me. “I will have the twins set up two rotating portals near the existing one. As well as have a group ready. However I believe that an announcement should be made to the citizens to see if there are any volunteers as well. It would be better to have as many people as possible. Also I think that there should be between five and seven people per team.”
“Sigh, I will make the announcement. Even though this was all decided before we got any decent information.” I looked around the table. “‘Resident’ please form a group as well.”
A figure flicked into existence in the corner of the room making several people jump. “As you wish. I will see what I can do.”
“Make sure to get Mori to help out. I’m sure that here people would love this. It would give them an excuse to play.”
“… I understand.” The figure flicked back out of sight.
“Now I do declare this meeting to an end. Unless there was anything else.” Everyone remained silent. “Good. Well then I will see you at a later date. Please have your teams ready by tomorrow.” With that I stood and left the room. Now off to do some announcements.

The Silver Mana - Book 1: Initiate
I used to be a healthy, young guy with a normal life - I had a career planned in professional soccer, a girlfriend, lots of hobbies, and loads of fun. Until the accident. Which changed my life. A few years later I had adjusted to my new reality, adjusted to being in a wheelchair, adjusted to having someone take care of me 24/7. And then the world changed. Old people and kids did not make it. And neither was I supposed to make it. But never count me out. If anything, I am tenacious. This new world was different. People could do magic. And there were monsters. And what about me? I had mana as well, silver mana. Which no one else seemed to have. The only problem was, I did not know what to do with it. Until I really needed to. Author's note: This is the rewrite of Silver Mana. The first bunch of chapters (until I will have caught up to level 2 of the dungeon) should be quite familiar to people that have read the original. There are some changes in content, but the story follows the original fairly closely for at least the first 150-200 pages. Most of the changes are in the writing, and some of the details of how things work. A few of the side characters get a bit more attention too. Some general comments to avoid disappointment: 1. The MC likes to swear. If you object to reading the word "fuck" at least once and usually multiple times each chapter don't read the book. "Fuck" is such a great, allencompassing word... fuck that; what the fuck?; fuck me! Fuck! one word, expressing so many nuances. And, frankly, the people I know that use fuck as a swear word.. they often use it a lot. 2. If you are looking for immediate progression, rapid advancement of the story, etc.... read another book. This one takes a bit. 3. I am NOT Pirateaba (who is writing The Wandering Inn) or anyone close to that level of productivity. If you expect to read 10k words every 3 days, or even just once a week... sorry. I've got a busy life. This is for fun, I have no patreon, paypal, anything, so I write when it is fun and however much is fun. Not more. And sometimes that turns out to be a decent amount, sometimes nothing. I have another book (Marrow) so that complicated things - basically I switch between the two whenever the muse strikes me.

Omnipocalypse Monsters(Shelved Timeline)
System Edit: This timeline has been shelved, but the adventures of the Omegas and her kids will continue in the next System Update Timeline with additional foes and challenges early on to guide the Omegas into a less destructive path of protection. The Omnipocalypse was every apocalypse humans ever imagined all happening at once, zombies, plagues, nukes, EMPs, Robot uprisings. Not just the earth either, It happened to every World ever dreamed up by men too: heaven, hell, and every other afterlife or spirit world ended, plus the worlds of books and stories bled into reality. It all broke apart and either; became new places on the chaotic Earth or part of the even messier spirit world. Magic beasts mutated by radiation, Robots mastering Magic, the mixture of everything made the horrors... well, more horrible. Omega; A young Woman with few memories wakes to find she has spent 2500 years in stasis, in a basement of scientific horrors. Creatures and Things that could supposedly destroy the world if ever let free. Horrors of which she was the last to get free. Rather then Quest for world domination or destruction; Omega keeps getting drawn into a protective role over other orphans, lost monsters, and broken AIs. So she decides to build something to help all her little monster family be safe. -------This story is meant to be a behind the scenes look at stories about kids solving problems that should be beyond them. I always wanted to see a story about Professor Oak, Dumbledore, or any other mentor who trains the main characters. I like the idea of someone looking at the apocalyptic world and deciding to make it safe enough that a small child can wander off and make some monster their pet. The pokemon games have fun systems to consider the behind the scenes workings of, like what training a team rocket member goes through to become a villain cut out for children to defeat. how they prevent a deific pokemon from accidentally murdering some little rat with its immense psionic power. However, the story itself is not really meant to be a pokemon parody, I draw inspiration from every genre of fiction, any type of game, this story is the only one I plan of ever writing without a clear cut ending planned, I love the infinite storytelling capacity of things like Doctor who's TARDIS, the Stargate or Rick's portal gun. In this case, I wanted the setting itself to be one where any and every story might happen. Cover Image by kalli gruen from Pixabay Discord Image by Digital Photo and Design DigiPD.com from Pixabay

Creature Feature: InGen Hybrids
The fossil record is obviously incomplete, which means InGen's experiments with the hybridisation of various prehistoric creatures are probably not over. With that in mind, this guide is likely incomplete. But if you're writing Jurassic Park or Jurassic World fanfiction, or stories told within that pretty awesome universe, then any of the creatures found in these fair pages should be considered entirely canon!
