《Reincarnation of a Businessman》Chapter 23 - Foundation Establishment

"It's done" The dragon's bittersweet voice sounded. Thousands of years of cultivation and growth were absorbed by some lucky guy.
"So can I go now?" Yin Yuhan directly asked. He desperately wanted to rush back to the city. Despite nothing being in front of him, he knew the dragon's soul was still somewhere around him.
"Yes, I will anticipate the Deacons here and buy you some time" Yin Yuhan spoke no more and rushed out. He immediately noticed that his body felt much stronger and much lighter. In no time, he was out of the cave and dashing to the city. As he finally observed his body he noticed that it no longer was fully draconic like before but only had an almost invisible layer of scales. For the most part, he looked human.
Soon, he saw the familiar stone walls marking the perimeter of the city. A large number of figures patrolled the walls actively making sure no one slipped in or out.
"Look, over there!" One of the guards spotted the dashing figure nearing the city. Immediately, five other guards looked over and trained their longbows at the figure.
"Stop!" The head guard shouted but the figure didn't stop. The five guards didn't hesitate and released their arrows.
Clang!
Yin Yufan raised his arm and the sharp arrows bounced off harmlessly. He quickly neared the wall under the shocked eyes of the guards when an idea came to his mind.
On the other side, a group of people gathered over looking at the commotion. Ning Feng was also in the crowd but at the moment he wasn't thinking about Yin Yufan at all.
Boom
The wall shook violently and people close to it felt tremors. They quickly retreated as it rang another time, children rushed to the embraces of their family. The second time the wall was struck, a spiderweb of cracks slithered across the firm stone wall. The guards on top of it were also distressed, their shooting producing no result.
"Is a wild beast attacking the city?" All of the citizens were scared.
BOOM
The sturdy stone wall exploded! The guards on the wall all fell down into the cloud of dust. When it cleared, everyone saw a young man with curly hair who was standing still. The guards were all cultivators and stood up quickly, drawing their swords as they surrounded the young man.
"Water Whip!" One of the guards approached and swung his sword. Before the sword even crashed down, a long, tentacle-like extension made of water shot out at the young man.
Being surrounded, Yin Yufan didn't feel any fear, only contempt for the weak cultivators. His demeanor had changed completely from before. His hand shot out and grabbed the water whip effortlessly. As he pulled it, the guard was thrown off his feet and flew towards Yin Yufan, the latter leaned back and swung his fist towards the approaching guard's head.
Although his head didn't explode, the guard's skull and brain were mushed and his lifeless body was thrown back ten meters. The five other guards had shocked expressions and tried to flee.

Unfortunately, they made the mistake of looking the young man straight in his eyes, their fate was sealed.
A ridiculous scene played out, the guards who were attacking Yin Yufan all fell down, not able to move while he leisurely walked around and stepped on their heads, squashing them one by one. He walked slowly, each one of his footsteps sent a shock in the heart of the spectators. When he reached the last guard who was coincidently the captain, Yin Yufan finally heard a yell.
"That's enough now. If you surrender quickly, I will give you and the slaves a quick death." A powerful but young voice made Yin Yufan finally stop his march and turn around. A short distance away from him was a young looking man, probably only in his early twenties. He had a clean appearance and was dressed entirely in black, two swords sheathed by his side. On his face, an arrogant expression was clearly plastered.
"Why do you think you have the power to order me?" Yin Yufan spoke with a calm voice.
"You probably obtained some opportunity that made your body a bit stronger than normal and so you have power equivalent to a high stage Qi Gathering warrior. It's still easy to see you are a mortal who hasn't cultivated, do you really think a strong body is enough to fight a Foundation Establishment cultivator? You should already be proud of becoming so strong in such a sh*thole, maybe you would even become an inner disciple were you born in a normal region, but now you should understand your situation. Quickly bow down and I, Bei Mo, will think about giving you and your village a merciful death." The young man in black explained very calmly with a condescending tone, as if he was teaching a child.
Young man from this village with a strong body? The crowd finally looked at the young man's face, finding him familiar.
"Little Yuhan!" His father and mother finally made their way into the crowd and realized that the person facing the guards was their son. His mother burst into tears while his father felt angry but emotional as well.
"Don't worry about them, they were planning to kill us so it’s only fair I kill them" Yin Yufan said with a smile. The moment he finished his sentence, his foot stamped down and ended the life of the captain.
The blatant face slap to his face made the young man in black change his calm expression.
"Hahaha, it is my mistake. I overestimated a dog like you, you don't even understand kindness, rejecting a way out for your whole village" Yin Yuhan's expression didn't change and he remained quiet, he felt that throwing insults was a little stupid so he chose to end things.
His opponent unsheathed his twin swords and held them up in front of him. He brought them over his head and slashed down, when the swords crossed, they let out dark wisps.
"Death Cross!"
A dark cross flew rapidly towards Yin Yufan who raised his hands in defense.
SIING
When the cross filled with dark energy met his forearms, the energy couldn't pierce far into his body. Instead, the energy split in two and slid down his arms, shaving off layers of his skin. When it slid past his arms, the two black energies crashed into the ground producing two small craters of several meters in diameter.

"Damn" Although it didn't injure him severely, a layer of his skin was flayed off and even showed signs of slight corrosion which inflicted a lot of pain. His skin which was impenetrable to arrows, was actually pierced by the dark energy, the man could not be underestimated!
He blocked it? The man in black was stunned. Not giving him any chance to recover he sent down another death cross. The crowd thought that Yin Yuhan would die but realized that his strength surpassed their expectation yet again. If before they felt pity and sadness, now a trace of hope rooted in their hearts, hope that he would reverse the situation and surprise them again!
This time Yin Yufan didn't want to take it head on the attack and take unnecessary damage so he dashed to the side and tried to close the distance.
"Hahaha, trying to get close to a sword cultivator?" Seeing that his ability missed, the young man didn't feel any anger.
The distance between the two was rapidly closing, when they were only an arm's length from each other, Yin Yufan swung his fist.
"Death Sweep" The two swords struck out in seperate directions in a seemingly slow manner. Leaving behind a black trail, one sword headed down at the fist, while the other swept towards Yin Yufan's wrist in an attempt to mince his hand.
The moment their attacks were about to clash, the young man's eyes were attracted to Yin Yufan's fist. Seeing the ray of dominating light, he instinctively froze for a split second. However he was still a powerful foundation establishment cultivator and quickly continued his attack.
BANG
The fist landed on Bei Mo’s chest, before his first sword could block it, but his other sword slashed Yin Yuhan’s hand.
Bei Mo’s ribs cracked, barely resisting the blow as he vomited blood. An audible thud was heard when his body fell on the ground a short distance away.
Yin Yufan himself was faring very badly as well. Bei Mo managed to resist the domination technique and sliced into his hand with the bottom sword. He hurriedly pulled out the sword in his wrist which let out a small fountain of blood. His expression grimaced, not because of the pain but because his wrist was covered in black corrosion and the veins in his hand slowly took on a black color as well.
"How does the corrosion of your body feel?" Bei Mo slowly stood up and retrieved one of his swords which was near him before taking a battle stance again. Although his ribs were cracked, he still had plenty of qi in reserve and the blow he landed on his opponent was close to fatal.
"A Foundation Establishment Cultivator is indeed very tricky, I would have to amputate my whole arm if I was just a normal body cultivator" Yin Yufan said with a serious expression. He had not interacted with cultivators at all so he was oblivious to the attributes of the dark qi as well as the strategy he should use against his opponent.
Just as Bei Mo was about to burst out laughing, a dreadful aura burst out of Yin Yufan's body. Yin Yufan stopped messing around and sent out a Domination law which was on a completely different level and spread it around his whole arm to suppress the corrosion. Bei Mo couldn't move because of the shock of seeing a cloud of black vapor coming out of Yin Yufan's arm before fading away.
"What corrosion?" Yin Yufan smiled and looked at Bei Mo.
The crowd was in utter shock, the small seed of hope in their hearts exploded as they began chanting his name. Mostly everyone knew by now that their days were numbered under the servitude of the sect causing every day to be bitter. As if a fantasy, Yin Yufan, a kid with an above average physique managed to become a powerful hero rescuing them! Even Yin Yuhan's parents who felt their world shatter when they saw him facing the guards, were feeling elation and incredulity.
"Yin Yufan! Yin Yufan!"
The remaining guards were fearful and contemplating if they should join the fight when they heard the chanting of the crowd. Even those who stayed in their tents slowly joined them making the atmosphere more and more tense.
"That's enough, go back to your residences!" One of the head guards walked forward and faced the crowd. His words were like the last straw which broke the camel’s back as a man adorned with tattoos swung his fist at the man. Just like that, while Yin Yufan was facing his adversary, a riot erupted in the city.
"Twin Poison Dragon Drill!" The other responded with an attack, becoming completely serious. Bei Mo spun around, his swords producing massive amounts of black smoke.
Yin Yufan didn't let him finish and tried to close the distance again. When he got close, the twin drill was finally unleashed as the swords drew to a close both pointing straight at him.
Yin Yufan was only around two meters away and had to face the attack head on. He didn't dare conserve any power, fully using the law of Domination. His body exploded in power dominating everything around him like a god. The aura he produced visibly suppressed the power of the twin dragon drill, eliminating its corroding aspect but he still had to face a large force.
"Dominating Grasp!"
Pouring all of his Dominating aura into his hand, Yin Yufan merged it with his body just like he did during the absorption. His nails elongated and turned into sharp claws, his hand quickly covered with scales. The half-human, half-dragon-claw reached towards the dragon drill. It passed right through, completely disregarding the power of the attack and reached for Bei Mo's head.
"NOO!"
A horrified shriek rang out as his head was mercilessly crushed.

Delve
Summary – Level 1: Delve is an isekai litrpg that follows an average guy who just happened to wake up in a forest one day. He wasn’t summoned to defeat the demon lord or to save the world or anything like that, at least as far as he can tell. The only creature there to greet him was a regular old squirrel. Soon enough, he meets other people, only to discover that he can’t speak the language, and that not everybody immediately trusts random pajama-wearing strangers they met in the middle of the wilderness. Things generally go downhill from there, at least until the blue boxes start appearing. Delve is a story about finding your way in a new, strange, and dangerous world. It’s about avoiding death, figuring out what the heck is going on, and trying to make some friends along the way. It’s not about getting home, so much as finding a new one. Did I mention that there will be math? Summary – Level 2: Okay, but what are you in for, really? Well, this story is supposed to be realistic, or at least, as realistic as a fantasy litrpg can be. The main character doesn’t instantly become an all-powerful god and murder-hobo his way across the universe. Delve is, at its heart, a progression fantasy, but that progression is meant to feel earned. The numbers in this story actually mean something. Everything is calculated, and if you find a rounding error, I expect you to tell me about it. That said, if math isn’t your cup of tea, there is plenty more that the story has to offer. Characters are meant to feel real, and progression isn’t only about personal power; it’s also about allies, connections, and above all, knowledge. Figuring out how the system works is a significant theme. ... What, you want more details? Okay, fine, but this is going to get a bit spoiler-y. Are you sure? Yes! Really sure? I mean, this summary is practically half as long as the first chap– Now! Okay, okay! The main character becomes a magic user, but he takes a route that is not very popular in adventurer culture, namely that of a support. There is a full magic system with various spells, skills, and abilities, but our MC decides that aura magic is the way to go, and that the only stat worth investing in is mana regeneration. Most people at the Adventurer’s Guild think that this makes him a bit of a dumbass, but he’s playing the long game. We’ll see how that works out for him, won’t we? Because of his build, the MC levels up fast, at least compared to normal people. There are no cheats, though, and he is limited in other ways. There are some clear and pretty obvious downsides to his build. That’s what makes it fun, no? Morals? Our MC has them. Again, we’ll see how that works out for him. Realism, remember? Would you be okay with killing someone and looting their body? I sure hope not. POV? The focus is on the main character, but there will be occasional varying perspectives from people around him, or involved in the events related to the main plot. It isn’t going to jump all over the place. Tech is standard medieval stasis. No smartphones, but the MC does have a technical background. Computers and their programming might be involved. There might even be a bit of uplifting down the road, who knows? Anyway, it isn’t the focus. He isn’t going to invent the gun in chapter 1 and change the face of warfare. Romance is not a major focus. Friendships are more the name of the game, though there will be some characters in romantic relationships. There is exploration, though not as much of the geographical nature as you might expect. It is more about exploration of the system and the culture. The pace is slow and detailed, sometimes verging on slice-of-life. The action is meant to be realistic and grounded in the numbers, and it is intended to have meaning beyond simply punching things until they stop moving. The general tone of the story is grey, and some parts can get quite dark. People die. Sometimes, people with names, but not anywhere near GoT level. There is plenty of light, too, though, to balance the darkness. The world is dangerous, but overcoming that danger is why we’re all here, isn’t it? Anyway, if you’ve made it this far through the summary, you clearly like words. I hope you enjoy the story! Cover by Miha Brumec Summary Updated: 2020-06-14

Sufficiently Advanced
A Novella about magic vs aliens vs science. It's a raucous, campy sci-fi read involving humans gaining magic, a possibly pizza-hating alien empire, the decapitation of the US Federal Government, eldritch abominations, lesbian space witches and some medium-hard science.I wouldn't say it's not serious, but I wouldn't say it's serious. Eh, it's not serious. Wait... it's getting serious.
