《Ruby_eyes》Side story 1: Sins of excess
Advertisement
Well hello everyone, my body is back to normal(-ish) enough for me to write to a certain degree without feeling pain.
Since its the end of the first book I had the good for me but evil for you idea of making a series of side-story's depicting 6 other characters, due the name you can kinda guess who.
Also at the end of the second side story If you remember the challenge I gave on chapter 18.5, which no one even got close to (beside someone finding the origins of Alphard's name, which I thought no one would find out),
so because of that annoying situation im gonna post the answers at the end of the second side-story and as promised in the chapter logs I'm gonna cut off reader interaction meaning no more polls!
Don't worry thought there is a single thread left to you all, a deadline of sorts, i will post the most obvious clues ever possible about that chapters secrets on this side story, you have till i post the next one in lets say A week to find them out.
This is a key point everything in this spoiler tab is a clue or action that is required.
Spoiler :
open a search engine.
open a second tab with translate.
use the search engine when placing all the god names from their respective pantheon(group) to find a key word that ties them together.
The god name secret answer was already shown on the page.
use translate on the names on the map till you find a trio of words.
everyone of the answers is a single word.
here is a link to the map.

ok then with my OCD rant over here is the first set of side stories.
Sins of Excess.
The first sin: Gluttony :the eternal consumer
(Drogan: in this text there is another language in use so I will translate with brackets)
The moon hangs low over the enveloping jungle that is the Wildlands, in this serene view not a sound is heard beside the slight rustling of the leaves from the nightly gusts and its animal guests.
The night sky is pitch black while being embedded by its many stars providing little light over the jungle compared to the tranquil moons glow
. . .
. . .
'crack crack, eeerrr, Thud'
A sound cuts thought the silence.
The sound causes the sleeping animals of the forest to wake up and scatter.
'Crack Crack, EEerrr, THud'
The sound grows louder and louder though out the night.
'CRACK CRACK, EEErrr, THUD'
'CRACK CRACK, EEErrr, THUD'
'CRACK CRACK, EEErrr, THUD'
. . .
. . .
The sounds stop as the moon reaches its peak in the night sky.
The awoken occupants of the forest return to their slumbering places but their return journey is less peaceful.
The animals of the jungle are all omnivores and sentient to a degree by their natural habitats nature but they all know the need for sleep is important so they don't Quarrel at night.
Animals scamper quickly yet silently back.
But as they follow their trails home a flurry of wood fly's at them from all directions, the multitude of the large animals are impaled dying near instantly to the projectiles penetrating either their heads or central chest.
The trail turn from dusty paths to blood splattered streams in seconds.
. . .
. . .
After a few moments of silence a Figure appears from the foliage, illuminated from the moonlight its shadowy form is shown to be over 2 meters tall with small part of muscle showing though an animal skin cloth that its wearing like a toga with its right shoulder shown to have a glowing orange mark.
As the figure walks into the light its features become more detailed, its body is fully covered in white fur with black stripes overlaying the white on its head and exposed arms, Its face is somewhat stout like a dogs,
Its mouth had a pair of buck-teeth when it entered the light but after a few seconds the teeth rot before falling out.
More and more these figures come out of the foliage to surround the corpses, each of the figures looks unique in their own way but they all show to have the same distinct features of black fur with different coloured stripes among them the white fur is never repeated even as a stripe colour.
The white figure raises its hand before pointing to the corpses and yelling. "Ithe" (Eat)
Once the word from the white is said the black furred descend in the the corpse feast.
The bloody feast continues for ages till a grey striped black fur walks towards the white and knees down while holding the head of a large Elk like beast's head that was meter large by its self.
The white gives a toothy grin before straightening his hand and thrusting into the skull of the elk, penetrating it easily and getting to the brain.
At the moment that the white's 5 digit clawed hand touched the brain it quickly scoped it up and brought it to its own mouth.

Once the brain tissue was eaten the white shakes slightly before a pair of growths appear on either side of its head, the growths expands out from its head like branches till a complex set of antlers.
When the rest of the pack see the whites change they raise their voices that were silent till now in a thunderous shout yelling
"éabhlóid Craos!, éabhlóid Craos!, éabhlóid Craos!" (Gluttony evolution!)

The third sin: Greed : immortal collector
'Drip. . .'
'Drip. . .'
'Drip. . .'
In a Dark cave where no light shone held a silhouette clad in the sheer darkness surrounding it.
'Drip. . .'
The silhouette had its arms and legs directly outwards like it was a star.
'Drip. . .'
'Rattle, rattle'
The repeating beat of the droplets falling is cut by the rattling of a metal object.
'Rattle, Klik'
As a newer sound was heard a doorway appeared in the Dark cave illuminating it from the light beyond.
In the door way was a trio of short men, each one of the men were rugged looking but they seemed more intellectual than they seemed, they were roughly 1 meter tall with each of them having a wider frame to compensate.
The light grew brighter as one of the trio took out a torch from outside the doorway and shone it directly into the room.
Once the light came in contact with the silhouette his features become realized.
Like the trio of men the silhouette was short in height but with broad shoulders that seemed they could carry a whole family on top of them, his face looked young but his hair was grey and ragged from age.
The young grey haired man was bound by chains from each of his limbs to the walls of the cave cell.
(YGH):"well look who's here, my Bastard grand-sons who forgot I existed, you didn't send any food for 17 years, a empty stomach is like hell on me."
(Bastard-1):"Your not our grandfather, not since you became a sin for out race, your now a monster that should die."
(YGH):"Well good luck with that, I've been alive for 300 years and the worst you can do to me is starve me."
(Bastard-2):"shut up you monster, the human church is asking for any information to resolve this and because of the treaty we have with them, we need to coff something up, either information or your black heart."
(YGH):"Well fuck you too and anyway you can try but you can't take a heart that ain't their."
(bastard-3):"w-well it seeems he's not g-gonna tell us anything, lets just go."
The young grey haired man just closes his eyes and goes silent causing the 2 other bastards to get annoyed and punch the man on the head, the third does this as well but misses and punches the shoulder instead.
(Bastard-2):" Come on, we can just tell them we have him perfectly secure or something." he says this while leaving through the doorway.
The other 2 follow him but the third bastard trips over accidentally due to a loose shoelace in his shoes and falls to the ground.
The older 2 laugh at his fall and pick him up before leaving and closing the door.
. . .
. . .
Silence and darkness envelop the male again but now their is something different.
He senses around and feels a substance he hasn't felt in years on the floor near where the 3rd bastard fell,
GOLD!
Using his powers he transports the gold to his and and starts his work. . .
The sin of Greed : immortal collector

The Priest of Genes
Meet Seth, acolyte in the Church of Virtue. He’ll be a Priest like his father soon, he just knows it. Sure he didn’t inherit his mother’s preaching power, but he doesn’t mind being the secondary priest at whatever temple he is assigned to. Just as long as he has a library. Meet this genetics textbook. Hmm, that doesn’t belong here. It must have come from somewhere far away, I guess something happened to its owner. I’m sure a studious young man who likes healing could go far with this information, whether he wants to or not. This is my first time really writing anything, so I hope you like it! Please let me know if I make any mistakes; I have a new R&D tech job at a genomics company, so I probably don’t edit as much as some people. I’m shooting for two thousand-ish word chapters released on Sundays, since none of the webnovels I read ever seem to update that day. Underserved Market! Genre is fantasy, possibly progression fantasy. Maybe a tiny bit litRPG if you wait a while and squint really hard, but that’s the most I’m prepared to claim. Hedged my bets on the content warnings, nothing that bad. Cover art from A. W. Gelman
