《Am I the Evildoer?》Chapter 10 - Hei Yu's Blood Thirst

In the northwest, a place known as the Qin province, a handsome young man kneeled on the ground toward an obscure figure. His brows were sharp like swords, his bulging muscles hid underneath his robes, and his features shared five to six points similar to Xue Yueliang's. His humble posture did nothing to cover his incomparably prideful demeanour, and this young man was none other than the Qin clan's renowned genius, Qin Yundi; Xue Yueliang's elder brother.

"Father, Qin Yao has neither returned with the other women nor did she die. I ask for permission to find her and return her before she brings disgrace to our home!" he firmly asked.

A brief look of confusion appeared in the man that Qin Yundi addressed, "Qin Yao?"

"My sister."

Realisation appeared on his face, but he did not understand why his son cared for a daughter he did not even recall, "If she's gone, then let her be. My honour isn't something that she can disgrace." He then continued, "If you have time to think such useless thoughts you have time to cultivate, head toward the capital's inheritance site and seize it before anyone else. Show everyone that you're the number one genius of the younger generation."

"Yes, father," he dutifully said, but a dark glint still flashed in his eyes, causing his father to sigh.

In another location, a beautiful young lady stood in one of the palace's majestic courtyards, her countenance indicating her slightly melancholic mood.

Her father indefinitely postponed her first mission, and her maid couldn't help but try to comfort her, "Princess, it wouldn't be too late to search for that dragon later, so there's no need to be so down, " she persuaded, "Even if you don't find that person, gaining this inheritance would be a great boon to you, his majesty will eventually entrust you with another mission. "

Yao Niang shook her head and smiled at her maid's words, a being capable of being a friend or foe to an entire kingdom. How powerful would such an existence be? If she killed them, then it wouldn't be such a big deal, but if she managed to befriend them, no dead person's remains could compare to that. Thinking about it further, if this inheritance could be helpful to even her, then maybe it would be tempting toward that existence.

Who knows, those idiots from her brothers' faction could have unwittingly helped her, and with these thoughts, the Princess cheered up, "I hope to meet you there, my dragon of extreme yin, " she murmured.

The oblivious maid celebrated, thinking her words affected the Princess.

Meanwhile, Xue Yueliang had finally exited the Blackwater forest, and although her cultivation did not increase during the past three days, she got increasingly proficient at integrating her cultivation with her activities. Her speed wasn't comparable to when she solely focused on cultivating, but she could continuously improve now, even as she journeyed. Xue Yueliang looked at her tattered robes and bruised body, then bitterly smiled. She couldn't show up in front of people with such an appearance, not unless she wished to be looked down upon and cause unnecessary conflicts.

Xue Yueliang sat at the edge of the forest and took out the fool's robe; it was the only decent piece of material she owned and began to redesign. Clothes say a lot about the person wearing them, a big part of why she was hesitant when she wanted to kill that young man was because of how he dressed. If he dressed similarly to her, she would have attacked him much sooner, as not all children of noble families were as eccentric as her. Before Xue Yueliang could finish making her new robe, trouble came knocking.

"Senior Brother, look at that cute rabbit!" A sickeningly sweet voice sounded.

Xue Yueliang looked up to see two cultivators standing not far from her.

She stored her clothing and nodded at them, "Greetings, fellow Daoists." "Greetings, " the senior brother smiled, "My Junior has taken a liking toward your pet. Do you mind if you sell it?" He asked.

But even as he spoke, his little companion walked over to her Hei Yu, clearly not putting Xue Yueliang in her eyes. "I apologise, fellow Daoist. Hei Yu is my life artefact, so he isn't for sale."

"Life artefact? That's a spirit beast; if you wish to say no, say so. Why do you lie?" He said, with righteous anger, "Though you are powerful to tame a spirit beast at this age, it doesn't mean that you should treat the rest of us like fools!"

Xue Yueliang was stunned at this reaction, as she did not expect him to treat her as a liar for telling the truth, but before she could say anything, a terrifying scream sounded. Hei Yu was happily grazing on the grass; when suddenly, an unfamiliar hand touched him. Hei Yu, naturally, opened his mouth wide and took a large bite causing the cultivator girl to scream in agony. Xue Yueliang did not expect Hei Yu to do that, as his cute nature caused her to subconsciously forget that Hei Yu was an artefact destined to cause a lot of bloodsheds. Noticing Xue Yueliang's startled spirit fluctuations, Hei Yu ran towards her, rubbing his bloody paw on her clothing.

The still stunned Xue Yueliang said, "I apologise for this incident. I have yet to train my spirit beast, " she then looked at Hei Yu's still screaming victim and awkwardly held a piece of cloth in her hand, "Bandage?"

She had no intention of continuing to kill people indiscriminately as it was a known fact that those who had a lot of blood on their hands after starting cultivation would suffer harsher heavenly tribulation, but looking at his junior sister's missing hand, she did not believe he would let this go. Xue Yueliang was right, and as soon as her words landed, an indescribable guttural noise escaped from the Senior Brother, and his eyes turned as red as a bull's as he swung his fist. Sadly, he was not a body cultivator, so he gave Xue Yueliang plenty of time to dodge and grab his fist. She then twisted her body and landed a clean kick in his stomach, then her elbow swiftly landed on the side of his head, causing him to fall roughly onto the ground.

"Why couldn't you be civil?" She sighed.

She then plunged her dagger into his heart, killing him instantly. Xue Yueliang frowned as that young lady's scream resounded, this time holding more fear than before, "Shut up!" She then chucked a wind dagger at her, finally returning peace to the edge of this forest. She took their clothing and accessories and smiled at Hei Yu, "Why don't you enjoy your meal?"

She had only been feeding him fruits and grass, not realising he was carnivorous, and from the slight increase in his aura, flesh and blood were beneficial for him. Xue Yueliang resumed making her outfit using the materials she received, and her final product looked more than exquisite. After donning her robe, she tied up her hair and used a cleaning spell on herself, her surroundings and Hei Yu, leaving behind no traces of the scuffle at the forest edge nor of her presence.

She took out the map she stole from Shopkeeper Song and compared it to her surroundings. The nearest city was about sixty li from her location, and it would take her an entire day to get there if she continued at her current pace. As Xue Yueliang walked, she noticed many sword beams flying above her. Though none of the cultivators in her generation could fly that fast, their masters and seniors helped them; meanwhile, she walked.

Xue Yueliang clenched her teeth and retrieved her Blood Moon Sword, and she harmonised her spiritual Qi with the sword's inner rhythm and familiarised herself with its power. She had no idea how to fly a sword, but she had nothing against trying. She soon stabilised it, causing it to hover above the ground and carefully stepped on the blade. She unsteadily stood on it and slowly moved it, bit by bit, quickly familiarising herself with the flow of Qi. The sword carefully inched upwards, and after flying for a while, Xue Yueliang felt that she could move faster and rushed toward her destination.

Xue Yueliang arrived at her destination, the Desolate City, by the time it took two incense sticks to burn. Elating her, travelling by sword was dozens of times faster than walking to places, and this would surely surprise her old Master. She smugly got off the Blood Moon Sword; before feeling an incoming wave of dizziness, she had overdrawn her spiritual Qi.

Xue Yueliang took out a spirit stone and absorbed all of its Qi, promptly turning it into ash. She then placed another wave of the cleaning spell on herself and confidently walked into the city. Unlike its name, the Desolate City was very prosperous, as it was the city where all the Desolate Province's riches amalgamated, and thanks to the rumoured inheritance, the city attracted many cultivators, hoping to find more news, of which Xue Yueliang was one of them.

She strode into the nearest inn and handed a spirit stone to the innkeeper, "Can I get a meal?" She cutely asked, displaying the characteristics of a child.

"Where are your seniors, child?" He asked warmly, but a different light appeared in his eyes.

"He went to the centre of the city, " she dumbly said and revealed a bit of her cultivation base before quickly hiding it.

These actions appeared to be like an inexperienced youngster from a wealthy background in the innkeeper's eyes, and he couldn't help but take her seriously. Xue Yueliang was unhappy that she could not get a simple meal without posturing for a while, but this was her fault for being so weak. She sat in the middle of the inn's first floor, which cultivators from all over the province had filled, and it was also a similar sight in all the inns and restaurants in the city. Xue Yueliang focused her spiritual Qi in her ears and hoped to hear important information while she waited for her meal. To her disappointment, these cultivators talked about everything under the sun but not about the topic she wanted to hear; it was like they had some previous agreement.

The innkeeper soon arrived with Xue Yueliang's meal, causing startled looks to appear in her surroundings, and after seeing the attention on her, Xue Yueliang loudly asked the innkeeper, "My Master said that there's an inheritance near the capital. Is it something cool?"

Xue Yueliang figured that since she appeared like a child, she might as well make full use of it. The innkeeper looked shocked at the sudden question, "This old man doesn't know," he stammered before hurrying away.

She disappointedly looked down at her food, but her actual feelings were the opposite. Her seemingly innocent question started hushed conversations between the inn's customers, and with her keen hearing, she could eavesdrop. Though the rumours we diverse, the crux was simple, only young cultivators at the age of twenty or under were qualified to enter, and the temptation of this inheritance was so huge, it tempted even the Princess. Xue Yueliang listened as she enjoyed her sweet and sour meal and a cup of fragrant tea, but as she was indulging in the food, she noticed a gaze fixated on her.
