《Am I the Evildoer?》Chapter 8 - Qin Yao' Amusement

The man in white sauntered towards the beast's corpse, appearing extremely relaxed; it was as if he was trying to show Qin Yao how little he thought of her. In other words, this was a naked provocation, but she still chose to ignore it. When he finally reached the corpse's side, he squatted down and formed a wind blade with his Qi, slowly cutting away at the bald eagle's neck. While Qin Yao watched this, a series of black lines could not help but form on her head; could this arrogant kid be so weak? A feeling of impatience rose in her heart, she felt that it would be sunset before this kid extracted the beast's core.
"Let me help," she warmly said while walking up to him, causing him to retreat angrily. Qin Yao calmly picked up the bird by its neck and twisted its neck off with her left hand; she dropped the rest of the corpse down and reached her right hand deep into the skull, retrieving a pale blue stone covered with the bird's brain matter.
"Here you go." Qin Yao grinned, and she reached out her hand, her skinny arm covered with the blood, feathers and brains of her prey. Though Qin Yao was not trying to scare him, this sight couldn't help but send shivers down his spine, and the disdain in his eyes has long disappeared, but even then, some arrogance remained.
"So you're a body cultivator. " He sneered, turning away to leave, leaving the rest of the corpse to Qin Yao.
Though body cultivation was one of the many great Dao paths, cultivators considered it a lesser path, as the people who cultivated this path and reached the summit were few. Even so, their power was never something to sneer at, so what gave him this confidence? If his conceit did not come from his ability, then it must be from his background; Qin Yao couldn't help but hesitate as to whether she should take his life or not. She did not consider his offence to be too great, and it was not worth causing a huge commotion over, and even though she wasn't afraid for her life, she would rather have her movements be unknown to her clan.

"If you don't move now, you will regret it for the rest of your life," a wily old voice sounded, prompting Qin Yao to act without delay.
She coated her dagger with her golden Qi, throwing it accurately towards the nape of the young man's neck. It perfectly struck his neck, piercing through until only the hilt was outside of his neck. He slowly turned around, appearing shocked from his injuries; it was almost as if he couldn't believe he could get hurt. His body then limply fell onto the ground.
"What an arrogant fool." Qin Yao could not help but mumble as she jogged towards the young man.
She squatted beside his collapsed body and flipped him over to his backside; even now, the shock has not disappeared from his face, Qin Yao could not help but shudder; this was something that went far beyond arrogance; it was plain stupidity.
"Old man, I think I'm already beginning to regret." Qin Yao said aloud, "What could be worth getting the blood of stupid on me?"
When that wily voice sounded, Qin Yao felt a strong sense of temptation, and she was sure that she would benefit enormously from following along his advice. Qin Yao waited for a few breaths of time, but no response came; Qin Yao did not bother too much with this and began to loot her harvest from the white-robed man. Since he spoke first, he would naturally show up, and even if he did not, she would not lose anything. As she searched through his belongings, Qin Yao saw that her fear of him being from a prominent clan was baseless, as from how destitute he was, he wouldn't even be worthy of being anything more than a lower-class servant, let alone a young master of a noble clan. The only thing that was worthy of note was the wind blade technique he displayed earlier. Qin Yao stored the manual in her pocket and dragged the corpse towards the bald eagle and her luggage.
After thoroughly stripping him of his clothes, Qin Yao began her Blood Sacrifice cultivation before the sun had even set; she felt this strong urge to grow stronger, as even though her opponent this time was this idiot, that didn't mean she would luck out next time too. Qin Yao placed her hands on the two bodies, and her golden Qi turned crimson as Qin Yao circulated Blood Sacrifice, her body wracking itself with pain. She silently bore with the pain as her eyes turned red and her breathing flaccid, but she did not allow herself to scream. Time passed by slowly, allowing Qin Yao to relish the pain, albeit unwillingly. The sun had long since set, and it was deep into the night, yet Qin Yao was still in a deep meditative state. It was not until dawn that Qin Yao finally awoke, and the corpses in front of her scattered to ash.

Qin Yao let out a groan as she got up, and although this was her third - or more accurately - the fourth time to experience this level of pain, she was still not fully used to it. She performed a cleaning spell on her body and looked around; she saw among the young man's belongings an ashy grey ring, it was not strange for a man to wear a ring, but she clearly remembered it being black before. Qin Yao picked up the ring as she examined it, and regardless of how she looked at it, it seemed to be a perfectly normal ring; still, Qin Yao felt there was more to it. The young man's arrogance did not come from his background or personal strength then, it could have very well come from an artefact. Qin Yao desperately hoped for that to be the case, and if he is just that dumb, her belief in cultivators would inevitably take a hit.
Qin Yao bit her forefinger and dropped a few drops of her blood on the ring, as this was the most basic way to form a contract. Perhaps this could have the answer for a certain idiot's overconfidence. The ring slowly absorbed Qin Yao's blood, its ashy colour quickly turning black, and a massive fog spread around a hundred-mete distance before condensing into the figure of an elderly man. "You sure took your time, little girl." His old voice sounded a soft intent behind his words; he stroked his long grey beard with his right arm and kept his left behind his back, appearing more like a grandfather chiding his granddaughter rather than a meeting of two strangers.
He wore a majestic blue robe, and with a golden thread, scenes of mortals fighting deities sown onto its edges. His wrinkled face did not do much to hide how handsome of a youngster he once was, nor did the passage of time his previous grandeur. Nevertheless, these were things from the past, and he was currently nothing more than a soul wisp, hardly holding any power.
A look of realisation appeared in Qin Yao's eyes, "You were his confidence," she said, holding back a laugh, "Yet you resulted in his death."
At this point, Qin Yao burst out in laughter. She couldn't help but find this situation to be amusing, it was like playing those trust exercises, but your partner steps away last second, causing you to appear like a complete joke in everyone's eyes.
Remembering the stupefied expression on that fool's face, "Puhaha..."
The old man, "..."
