《Blue mage》Chapter 13: *Happy Jace noises*

As I was using my web skill to make a pair of pants under the skillful eye of Keith, the local weaver, a notification popped into my vision.
[Greeting from the System mortals. Your continent has had its trial picked. You will take part in a monster war.]
[One monster general, 5 monster lieutenants, and 25 monster captains will spawn per sector, any sector that fails to kill the general will become a fallen sector. Fallen sectors are unable to have a village or town formed. When a sector falls, the monster general will rank up into a monster king or queen and take over the sector. You have 6 months to defeat the general.]
[5 months, 3 weeks, 29 days, 23 hours, and 59 minutes remaining]
[Remaing sectors 200]
I let out a squeal of joy over what I just read. Powerful monsters had just spawned and I was going to kill them. I then receive a disapproving grunt from Keith as I look down and see that my pants were unraveled. Keith shakes his head, "You can fight later, for now, you need pants."
I nod sadly and start to work on a new set of pants.

It took two days to gather the heads of the villages in their sector. Those villages being Haven, Wolford, and the reluctant Norwich. Luke had already explained what was happening to his town filling in the gaps that the System left with its message. Now he was sitting at a table with the leaders of the other villages in his sector.
The first one to mention was the leader of Haven, Sarah White, who gained her position by driving back Jace, who no one could find at the moment. Sarah has the spearwoman class and is at level 19, she is more of a combat leader as she doesn't do much town management but delegates that so she can fight strong monsters that get too close to her town.

Second is the leader of Wolford, Samuel Jones who is probably the best smith on this continent right now. Luke had replaced his old sword he got during the tutorial with one made by him. He was level 18 right now.
The last one was the leader of Norwich, James Fregrec. James was a mage and was already level 20 and was learning how to use runes in his magic. James was the only one of the three who actually lead his village.
They all had their aids of course, with each having two to help them with this very important meeting. Luke cleared his throat to gather their attention. After their head all swivel towards him does he start to speak.
"Greetings fellow village heads, I welcome you to Llyn. It is a shame that you had to come in such a dire time but I will sure you that I have a plan." Luke finish his opening right as Sarah started to talk. "We need to know who is going to lead our alliance against the monster army. I've already heard about level 24 and 25 monsters getting closer to my village and I'm sure it's the same for the rest of yours."
Luke waited for a second before answering. "I already have a-" right then a notification popped up for everyone in their sector.
[A captain has been defeated]
Everyone but Luke stared in confusion at the message before looking back up at Luke. James is the first to talk. "Is this the solution you were talking about? It's only been two days and already a captain is dead. Please explain." No one was angry per se more scared. Luke already had a powerful squad somewhere capable of defeating at least a level 25 monster without him. No one but Sarah and James could defeat such a foe and that was only with a full squad of 15 people with them.

Luke smiled for a second before saying, "My solution isn't exactly perfect. He'll probably only kill 10 or 12 captains before he gets bored."
Chaos erupted as they learned it was not a squad of people but instead just one person. Sarah and James, both combatants, called Luke a Lier while Samuel started to shake in fear of what kind of monster could do something like that.
Luke raised his hands, "Of course I have little control over him, and even at his level of strength he will still need help with the general." This seemed to calm Sarah and James down but Samuel was still shaking. None of them could really imagine and being able to win fights against level 25 monsters solo. They all shuttered just thinking about it.
Then Sarah raised her voice, "Wait what do you mean by bored? We probably couldn't even win against one of them but this supposed person can beat them so easily?" By this point, no one believed that it was one person, rather they believed that it was an elite squad formed by Luke for postering. No being like that could really exist after all.
Rather than end the meeting it continued on with Sarah being elected head of the alliance and James being the Vice leader. After put Luke at the bottom as they thought he was lying to them to be elected head. Luke understood that this normally would have had them lose the war but with Jace out there they would win regardless at some point.
Before the meeting ended Luke took a deep breath and realized that he couldn't rely on these people. They were too vain, well at least James and Sarah were. Samuel was alright, he just wanted to smith. With one last look at them, he stood up look each of them in the eyes, and left with these words. "I quit the alliance, get out of my town. And for the love of the light don't piss off Jace."
They really didn't care if Luke was part of their group as he was going to help regardless. They slowly packed up and left.

In the middle of the woods, there was a new clearing. This clearing was covered in craters over 10 feet wide and melted groves going over 100 feet along the ground. In the middle of all of this was a very happy man sitting next to a pile of dismembered and burnt bodies. He was 38 feet tall now and was picking up handfuls of bodies and shoving them into his mouth. When he ran out he stood up, stretched, and look at the sky. After 10 seconds he took in a deep breath and let out a roar that could be heard for over 100 miles around.
It was time for the dragon to hunt.

8 167NEWDIE STEADSLAW Part I
NEWDIE STEADSLAW is a randomized array of Chekhov's red herrings, non sequitors ex machina, run-on sentences, and em dashes—so many em dashes. It's like if the Bible and Shakespeare had a baby that they surrendered to foster care, then it got adopted by Alice in Wonderland and Dr. Seuss—the books, not the people—and then the baby fell down the stairs. In this metaphor, the stairs wrote the story. Part I is the tale of the adventures of Traycup and Roby as they try to hold down a job inside the hollow Earth—a place made possible thanks to the secret science of embargoed relativity—and they get distracted by dancing foxes, a giant's record collection, and something with a train, I think. It's a work of fiction—although to call it work seems insulting to, y'know, actual work—but the fiction label is apt, so, y'know, that's a win. Half the words are made up, and the other half are embarrassed to be seen with them. Part I is complete.
