I quickly hit no, I’m getting my money’s worth on these slimes. Also being one slime from leveling was a big factor. I know how to fight slimes, I don’t know what will come next and I should be as ready as possible.

I did wonder how slime fluidity worked. It was probably due to the almost gelatin-like form the slimes had. Now that I’m thinking about it that has to be it, it's a Bingham plastic. It was solid but as I applied more pressure it became less so.

The notification shocked me a little bit but now that I know that finding out and understanding an ability helps me get. Just in time, I hear a slime plopping around the corner. Quickly grabbing its core I get some very nice notifications.

While the changes are small it still feels good to see numbers so up. Slapping my cheeks and readying myself I accept the transfer to stage 2.

I find myself in a savanna with knee-high grass and no trees. The only other thing I can see is a man wearing a cloak made of green scales. He sits in the lotus position, he raises his head then stands. He beckons me forward. With great caution, I approach.

He calmly moves into a pose. After a couple of seconds, I realized he wanted me to copy him. After I make the pose to the best of my ability the man breaks the pose and corrects mine. Then he reenters the pose and moves, his whole body moves in one fluid motion and ends with a simple claw strike. I slowly copy the movements to the best of my abilities but the man stops and corrects me often. Movement after movement I failed, never dissuaded but enraptured by the simplicity of the claw strike. After what seemed like mere moments I completed one claw strike. The man nods.

My eyes snap open, and I look around. Is this stage 2, no wait my notification says stage 3 what happened? I can kinda remember something but it feels like a fever dream. The only thing I do remember is the claw strike. Well, that was weird but what is this new stage. Right on time, the ground shakes a little. Looking around I see my next opponent and I cursed. How the fuck am I supposed to kill that monster. What I was looking at was a 12-foot tall tan-skinned tusk having ogre. Its head shifts towards me and roars. I run, ya fuck that I don’t want to die. A shin high ball of acidic goo is one thing but I can’t fight that huge fucker. I get about 10 feet before its fist slams into my back pushing me to the ground [Damage reduced]. Well if it was like that I could do this. Standing back up I attempt to roll back to get some room. I mess up and hit my head on a rock. “Fuck” I whispered under my breath before standing up only to see a fist the size of my skull rocketing towards my face. So I try and move back only to trip on my own foot sending me back to the ground. Scrambling backward I use Claw of the Departed Dragon for the first time. A semi-transparent dragon claw appeared on my hand carving a small chunk off the ogre. Inspired by this I push my advantage using claw after claw stopping only after the 5th on as the ogre falls backward dead.

That was the most stressful fight I’ve had yet the one with the least pain as I didn’t have to shove my hand into acid. Not knowing what to do, I lay down a spread out my limbs, and try and relax as I wait for next the ogre to respawn. It had been a crazy day so far with the killing of what was only fantasy a day ago. I tried to process what had happened but I just couldn’t wrap my mind around it. Every time I tried it simply slipped away. Every time I tried to think about my family I couldn’t feel anything negative, as if I didn’t care if they were going through what I was going through. Then the hunger came and I realized that I hadn’t eaten In over 20 hours, for some reason my eyes kept on drifting back to the dead ogre. I couldn’t stop looking at the ogre. My stomach rumbled and with one last glance, I dug in. It was the greatest meal of my life.

I yelp as my all teeth fall out and new, sharper ones, take their place and my hunger only grows. I gorge myself until the next ogre show only to be pounced on and shredded. I lose myself in the feast, hunting, and gorging. I continue my hunt until the ogres stop coming and I finally check the system messages.
