《Personal Demon》Introspective

Tyson took one hard look at his choices. They were both of epic quality but differed in their focus and expertise.
Before his death he would have taken the first choice, simply because it allowed him to ignore his mistakes and even make him better in aspects he thought he lacked.
It would have been the worse choice.
Power alone would not allow him to free himself from his shackles, as he could not harm his summoner or act against his commands. That included indirect measures.
Also the Ancient Nightmare sounded like it had style. Sure Blood magic sounded cool in theory, but running around with weeks maybe even years old blood as your body. Disgusting.
It only took a simple mental command to progress.
Then he blacked out for a moment.
A shift in perspective, maybe a few centimetres higher, and notification windows overlapping before his eyes.
Deciding to check them out later, he minimized them with a thought.
Aside from the dimensions his body had not changed much from what he could tell. Maybe he had become a little bit darker?
„I think the purifier would be a good choice. The paladin class has overall better stats but the gods will is a fickle thing and best not to be dependent on for your future class choices.“
Michal nodded to his mothers words and pressed his finger against an invisible window.
Great, that class sounded like absolutely wonderful news for him.
And it also meant, his option had been so good that he had immediately taken it, so a rare class at least.
„But now you should go to bed so you can be well rested when we go to the city tomorrow.“
Michal smiled and ran out of the door. The mother gave Tyson a curious glance,
„The gods and their irony“
before turning away to write a letter.
He followed Michal for now, with a sedated pace eagerly awaiting the night.

When he arrived the boy had already changed into more comfortable clothes, now sitting on his bed.
The boy stood up and closed the door behind them.
Michals room was much too plain for a child's room in Tyson's opinion. No toys, clothes lying around or anything else typically associated with ten year old’s.
And the moment the door closed, michal breathed out with gravitas.
„You know, you and I have much to weather together.“
He gave Tyson a long hard look, and the Dark Lord saw an immense determination in those eyes.
„When the gods gave me the mission I was enthusiastic. But now, ten years later, I just want to live a quiet live away from all the fighting.“
Michal chuckled a bit. There was something wrong, really wrong here.
„Fighting, back in my world ahh that may sound crazy, was allot easier. We had nothing to lose, if we died that was it. No hard feelings.
But now, I have a family maybe soon I will make some friends.“
Michal wrapped himself in his blanket and gave Tyson one last look.
„You probably didn’t understand any of that. Still feels good to finally tell someone.“
He chuckled and closed his eyes.
No, Tyson understood everything perfectly.
His shadowy form shuddered.
That was no easily manipulated ten year old. He was a damn reincarnater.
Now all the pieces fell together. The name, Michal was not just a coincidence.
The brown hair and those deep green eyes, the same eyes that had stared at him smug and elated as the bomb went of.
Tyson wanted to scream. To give up and disappear.
His identity would need to remain secret even more so now.
Maybe he could try to flee one day, his evolution seemed to intensivist autonomy rather strongly, maybe a skill to break the contract.
On this note he pulled up his notifications.

Upper limit for stats raised Gained ability-the hand behind the curtain Gained ability- Hexenmeister Gained ability-dark master Gained ability- fear of the dark
The first notification seemed to pertain to a change in status, and he immediately pulled out his screen.
Name: Tyson Grey Race: Spirit Order: ember Chakra 0/0 Strengh: 1/10 Agility 3/20 Constitution 2/10 Chakra Densety 0/20 Chakra concentration 0/20
So he was now of a higher order? No Idea what that did for him though.
It seemed the stats would need to be raised seperatly, maybe through a workout? Or were ther skill points, though he still saw no level...
Focusing on his ability's instead gave him something to work with.
The hand behind the curtain(active)(0):
To hide your evil machinations from the watchful eyes of your summoner you give him a false front. Choose your displayed evolution.
(Passive)gives medium resistance against prying eyes.
The ability was essential and Tyson, after a little pondering, used it to set his race to wrath. A fragile half assassin half spellcaster he had been offered before.
He hoped michal had not noticed the absence of the notification.
Hexenmeister(passive)(0)
You are a master of curses and witchcraft. Also shifts mana to align with said magic.
He had no idea what that one did, nor what the title meant, but he hoped it gave him access to some cool magic.
Dark master(active)(0)
Build up your fellowship in the night of society. Enables you to make a contract with a willing mortal, in exchange to granting them power you gain their absolute loyalty.
0/1
Now that was an absolute gem.
The possibility’s!
Well he would need to wait a bit before using it. While he could force volunteer some village bloke, they would be unwilling and dumb.
No, he had to find the right opportunity, maybe the untalented son of a noble house?
For now he was satisfied with looking at his last ability.
Fear of the dark(active)(0)
With the cost of some mana you can take the form of a shadow, or hide yourself in one.
A solid active ability, sadly nothing to deal any damage. Well he would need to compensate with spells.
Playing with his new form for a few hours he waited for everyone to fall asleep.
Now with all that out of the way, he sneaked out of the room, squeezing his body through the keyhole. What waited for him was a dark and empty floor. As he silently hovered across the floor a strange tranquilety overcame him.
Somehow he could understand the strange new language probably something to do with the contract, and it was not limited to the spoke word.
He remembered the way to the mothers study and went trough the keyhole again. For a moment he waited for any magical traps to activate with bated breath but nothing. Then he formed a few shadowy tendrils and started browsing through the books.
Sadly, while the collection was quite big, it did not have a focus on witchcraft or curses. It did however pertain to the notions of rituals.
Large drawings of mysterious formations were forever frozen in time on the weathered parchment. Some were explained others only shown.
Going back to the beginning he found an explanation. Rituals were spells using materials and the surrounding energy's.
What was written there was certainly interesting, Tyson even found the simple ritual that summoned him, as well as a book about the subjugation against witches and what was wrongfully titled as foul magic. Still you take what you get. Slowly the worlds secrets were revealing themselves to him, and before long world domination would reside in his hands once more.

There will be some action, but it won't be the focus of the story and Vee and his friends will usually overcome their problems with their minds and their pocketbooks instead of their weapons. Since I'm participating in the writeathon, I will probably be uploading chapters almost daily for the duration of the event. Thanks for reading!
