One of the guard approached me carefully”I am the leader of the guards, my name is Brian, are you one of the pirates, if so why did you help us.”

“I am glad to meet you Mr. Brian; I am not one of them. They picked me up from one of the ships they plundered and I have been working as a slave ever since then. I don’t remember anything about my past, probably because I was knocked out during the attack or something. I was waiting for a chance to get away from them and search for any clue as to my identity.” I told him with a serious face, I didn’t mention that the pirates found me in the ocean as I don’t think they will believe me.

He told me to wait and went inside the ship. I stood along with the remaining guard, his name was Shane and he thanked me for helping him earlier. I nodded and asked him about the ship. The merchant ship seems to be one of the two ships returning from Levylon to Cleaveton. It is carrying spices, ores and ornaments, the other ship is eight days ahead and we will reach Cleaveton in about twenty five days. The ship is headed by Wyeth of the noble family of Pranthean and other ship is headed by his son Edmurd. Paranthean family is the third powerful noble family among the twelve noble families of Cleaveton and they hold a prominent share in trade industry of Cleaveton.

As Shane was explaining things to me, a big fat bald man came out whom I assume to be the Noble Wyeth, Brian followed him behind. Wyeth looked at the wreckage and all the bodies.

“Why the hell did you bring these incompetent men, now I have to pay compensation to all their families” Wyeth yelled at Brain in anger.

“With respect sir, they were good men. The pirates were all strong and my men fought bravely” Brain said in a stern voice suppressing his own anger at the noble.

“Whatever, throw all the dead bodies, I don’t want any excess luggage” He told Brain and was about to head inside when he noticed me. He asked Brain about me and Brain explained to him as I did. The noble didn’t want to let me in on his ship and told Brain to take care of him but Brain reasoned that we are still in the danger zone and I am a competent fighter. The noble agreed reluctantly but said he didn’t trust me. He told me that I ought to stay in the deck and never venture out to any other place without permission. I had to agree to the conditions as I didn’t have a choice.

A beautiful girl patched up my wounds. The girl looked simple but was pretty in her own way, she had beautiful blue eyes and had a sweet smell like that of a lavender. She never spoke a word to me the entire time. I wanted to talk to her but didn’t know how to start the conversation and hence I sat there in silence as she treated my wounds. I was provided with a set of cloths which I assumed to be of the dead guards.

My condition didn’t improve much, I was a slave in the Pirates ship and now I am practically shunned like a prisoner in this ship, I have to stay in this ship for twenty five days, I sighed dejectedly.

I was provided meals thrice a day, after being provided bread once a day in the pirate’s ship this seemed like a luxury to me. Every time the pretty girl would being me the meals, I wanted to make a request for extra as the meals were tasty, but didn’t do so as I thought that it would bring trouble to her. The noble seems to be a greedy bastard, he was already pissed off that he has to give me the same privileges as the guards.

By the next day the dead bodies and the repairs were taken care off. Shane joined me for dinner; again the pretty girl came to deliver us our meal. I looked at her as she was leaving in a thoughtful manner and contemplated her situation; surely she was not happy to be on this ship and wore a sad expression the entire two days. Shane notices me looking at the girl.

“Don’t concern yourself with that girl, it will only bring you trouble” Shane cautioned me.

I asked him about the girl but he didn’t disclose anything. He said that the Brain went out of his way to convince the noble to treat me like a guard and release me without any paperwork upon entering Cleaveton and he didn’t want me to mess up by meddling in affairs that doesn’t concerns me. I was pissed off at him for thinking that I was at the mercy of the noble, yet I stayed silent as I know that I can’t afford to offend anyone on board.

After sometime Shane stood up to go to sleep, as he walked off I was able to see him clearly till he crossed the corridor. I realised for the first time that everything was clearly visible to me despite the darkness. This was one of the reasons I was easily able to dispose off both Merlin and Ray the other night. I also noticed that there was no pain from the wounds I received yesterday; I slowly took off my bandages and to my surprise not a single sing of the wound was visible on my shoulder. It’s like I never received the wound.

I sat there in the corner of the deck thinking about various things that happened and how my body was very unusual and there’s that black globe which I know nothing about. From what I gather Both Brain and Shane didn’t see the black globe when I killed frank leading me to believe that I was the only one capable of seeing it, but still I didn’t know what it was and whether it had any effect on my body.

As I was in deep thoughts, I notice a shadow emerging from inside the ship. I looked in its direction and realised that it was the pretty girl. What was she doing outside at this time of the night? I stood up and walked towards her to ask her if she needed help with something. She didn’t notice me as I approached her. She climbed the wooded ridge of the ship and that’s when I realised what she was about to do.

I bolted towards her, grabbed her arm I pulled her down. It seems I put too much force and she fell on me. She was sobbing profusely and begged me to let her go. I gripped her arm tightly not intending to let her go. How can I let her jump in the ocean? I didn’t know what her troubles and circumstances were but I cannot possibly let her kill herself. She sobbed, struggled and begged me to let her go but I kept my hold on her for almost half an hour. Finally she calmed down. It was an awkward situation; sure I wanted to talk to her but not like this.

I told her that I would let her go only if she told me why she was throwing away her life. She looked at me hesitantly and then started telling me her story.
