《Original Wolf - (The Originals)》3 Berserker

It's been a couple of days since then and Nevan has been spending bonding time with Aurelia again as well as getting to know the squirts shes recently picked up. He also didn't fail to notice Cora, she had the scent of familiarity, she's definitely a pack members kid.
Ramiro Rolando, the blue-eyed boy, has learned his place, he seems to have a bit of an anger problem. Supposedly he had a good excuse for it, but that didn't matter unless you proved you were someone worth listening to.
Nevan was laying down lazily against a tree in the middle of the meadow, enjoying the nice breeze this morning. After Aurelia took care of her chores she made her way over.
"Your aware that Cora is a pack members kid," he said without looking up.
"I do."
"And?" he asked rolling his eyes, she never liked to talk much, it always irritated him in the past talking to her.
"She told me her entire family was killed in a fire."
"unlikely." he snorted
She looked at him questioningly.
He said as he sat up turning to look at her. "While it's true none of us have died before, I firmly believe I should be able to tell after all I can sense the direction of those I bite and I haven't felt any of them disappearing."
As he stood up wiping debris off "kids huh?" he mumbled to himself.
"Sir?"
"Did Cora tell you whether or not she has siblings?"
"No"
"Aurelia," he said stretching out the name to show his displeasure.
She fidgeted a bit before continuing "She only told me that her family died in a fire... I have not talked to her about it."
Nevan gave her a sideways glance before heading into the woods to look for Cora who was likely trying to hunt on her own.
It wasn't long before he found her transformed and attacking a decent size, feisty boar, off on the side was her friend cheering her on.
"You can do it Cora, but watch the tusk, they are sharp, be quick to dodge and quick to shrike."

"I know!" yelled Cora back, eyes glowing as the boar charged her. She dodged to the side as it neared, but did it to soon the boar compensated and bucked his head as he went by leaving a nasty gash. Cora did however managed to leave a claw mark traveling the side of the boar as it went by. With the Adrenalin pumping, she didn't even notice she was hurt yet as she quickly turned and pounced on the boar sticking her claws into the neck quickly finishing it. After it dropped dead she looked up and howled out her victory right before she grunted from the pain and leaned against a tree to inspect her wound.
"Cora!" yelled Gabriela as she rushed over to check on her friend. They then heard clapping from above.
"Pretty good for a little squirt like you, but it's not good enough considering where you come from," Nevan said as he jumped down.
Cora glared at him before yelling "What is that suppose to mean!"
"Relax yourself girl, I wish to talk to you for a bit...." looking towards her friend, "...Maybe it should be alone as well."
"She stays!" Cora said looking at her friend who gave her a smile and a nod. "Yes!"
"Alright, but first let me ask something I forgot to earlier, why has Aurelia taken in all you kids?"
"Tch, shouldn't you be asking her that," said Cora rolling her eyes.
Nevan snorted "No thanks I'd rather not ask that brick wall."
This time Gabriela yelled "How dare you! she has taken us in when we had no one else." it wasn't long though before she thought more about it and quietly giggled to her self before saying "Well your also not wrong it would be nice if she talked more, as for why she took us in, well there was this one time when she was quietly looking up to the stars and started telling me about how she missed the past and how she wanted a pack, but a pack that would stick together, so I believe she took us the less fortunate hoping that helping them at this point in their lives, they wouldn't want to leave."

"Hmm, is that so," Nevan said as he thought about the past thinking they didn't spend enough time together. During the freeze, it was simply a need for survival and then afterward they all split up.
"Well anyways back to what I was saying earlier, Cora do you have any siblings? or did you have others in the pack that is still alive?"
Cora froze at the question, she started to shake a little remembering the horrible night.
"Cora, Cora, Cora!" Gabriela started shaking her friend trying to snap her out of it.
"Why would you ask her that." she glared at him
"I have my reasons, but I'll lay off it, for now, excuse me something just came up," he said as he turned and left into the woods.
He smelled the scent of blood in the distance as well as hear the occasional shout and scream. The distance was a good deal away from them so the threat was minimal. The only reason he could pick all that up from so far away was because of his vastly superior senses.
He traveled 5 miles east where he came upon a bloody scene. Upon a hilltop body parts were thrown all around as if shredded by a windmill. On the very top it seemed the fighting was still ongoing, the dead men looked like soldiers wearing a uniform, but no guns could be seen anywhere.
Nevan reached the top and saw Aurelia in full werewolf form fighting a big man with a skull on his head, with bone armor and was holding on well in the fight considering it was against Aurelia. The man had his left hand as a claw weapon and his right wrist had a dagger-like weapon wrapped to it. He was swinging them randomly however, completely relying on his physical resistance to win him the fight.
It was strange though, Nevan has never seen anything like it before. Aurelia in full werewolf form was a giant brown colored beast standing at 6ft 10in, a bit slimmer than the male version, but allowed for quicker movements. She was easily dodging all his attacks and giving them in return, but the dude was a tank. No matter how much she hit it, it wasn't even fazed in the slightest. All Aurelia was accomplishing was smacking it around like a doll, after all, she is just one step down from an Original.
"Aurelia, the head! go for the head!" Nevan yelled getting tired of watching. he wasn't sure if it would work, but it was the one place she hasn't hit yet.
Aurelia who sensed him coming didn't hesitate to follow his orders and started to aim for the head. It was soon obvious to Nevan however why she wasn't going for the head earlier, as she followed his order and aimed for the head, the man's big swings came for hers. She must have tried it when they first started to clash before he showed up and she quickly realized then that it was a bad idea. Nevan just arrived though and didn't know this. There was no going back now though, with the order received she would follow it to the death.
Nevan cursed when he realized it, "Damn it Aurelia" He instantly shape-shifted into his wolf form, his fastest form, and charged ahead. Their attack towards each other's head now moving in slow motion as Nevan came running over, opening his jaws as he ripped off the head of the man. It immediately turned to dust afterward, leaving Nevan trying to spit it out even using his claws on his tongue and licking the ground whining in his wolf form.
Aurelia now back into human form muttered "Cute." at his antics, with a small blush no one would notice if they didn't look hard for it.
(If you're wondering about the clothes, most of his packed solved that long ago when witches were strong, having them make clothes that would disappear and reappear during shifts. Nevan went one step further and his clothes can change with his will.)

Solstice Anthology
A collection of short stories I've written over the past few years, the centerpiece being "Solstice" itself: On the Winter Solstice, the wind whispered. It roared and blew across the world, and reached even the Heavens above. With it, the great cold of winter flooded across that higher plane, and the gods staggered. They felt the golden dust of their divinity drift away from them, and the message of that wind became clear… This Winter will never end so that the Earth will.
