Chapter 25- Training
Back at the camp, the mercenaries, or guards, had split up into groups and were awaiting Sear’s orders.
Walking in front of them all, he used magic to amplify his voice and began to speak. “I am guessing you all know what you have been paid to do. You are now guards here. For the next month you guys will be trained to become stronger and learn to respect others. Understood?”
Most of the mercenaries began laughing, but before they could say anything, Sear taught them to fear him.
Closing his eyes, he took a deep breathe before reopening them. His eyes changed to vertical ovals, almost turning into reptilian slits.
“UNDERSTOOD?” This time when he screamed, an aura of power followed. Some of the men around him fainted, while others were blown back. The ground near him rippled as his aura extended outwards for hundreds of meters, encompassing the entirety of the mercenary camp and some of the city.
Blinking, his eyes turned back to normal before the aura vanished, leaving hundreds of men staring at him with eyes full of awe and instinctual fear.
Walking away, he told Gut he would return in 2 hours.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Two hours later…
Walking back to the camp, he noticed that the men now had all stood at attention and seemed much more, calm, compared to before. Fear truly was a wonderful weapon.
“Now that you all have learned respect, let me begin. You have been split into groups of even power. Soon, you men will all be fighting group against group to learn how to work together better. But for today, you will be doing one-on-one sparring.”
Walking over to an open part of the camp, he created 60 circles in the floor each being 10 meters in diameter.
“The rules are as goes: the first man to 10 points wins the duel. Each hit is 1 point, if they fall on the floor its 1 point, and if you leave the circle its 2 points. Each group will be allowed to use up to 5 of the arena circles. Try to pick someone of your own skill to fight against, or else I’ll kill you.”

At those words, many of the men gulped before walking to their destinations. He quickly formed a total of 120 swords, 120 daggers, 120 bows, and 120 shields, all made of wood.
“Also one more thing, try not to kill each other. These swords are wooden, but I’ve reinforced them enough that they can take tens of hits from a steel sword before cracking.”
Turning around he began to walk back to Gut.
“Well Sear, you seem to know what you are doing, so I’ll let you continue. But if its not rude, care to duel and show these men how to fight?” As Gut said that, Sear felt the eyes of many men come to look at him.
“Why not…” Smiling inwardly, he watched as Gut went towards one of the arenas and picked up two swords.
Well, well, a dual wielder. Not bad at all.
Walking over, he picked up a dagger before entering into the circle.
“Is that all you are going to pick up?” Gut smiled, thinking that this would be easy. “Don’t underestimate me kid.” Taking a stance, he began to circle Sear.
“I’m not underestimating you. If anything, this is already too much.” Looking towards Gut, Sear’s face contorted to a disturbing smiling.
“Why are my instincts telling me to run? Surely he isn’t that strong…” Gut’s thoughts were cut short and Sear vanished. Looking around, he saw Sear reappear behind him before flicking one of the swords.
The sword was forced out of Gut’s hand and flew out of the circle, almost hitting one of the men.
“One point.” Vanishing again, he appeared at the other side of the arena. Throwing his wooden dagger, he watched as the hilt hit the other sword.
That sword was too launched flying away as the men stared in awe.
Sear ran towards Gut before quickly gabbing him 9 times.
“Ten points. I win.” Turning back, he left.
Behind him, Gut kneeled on the ground staring at his hands.
“How does he have so much power?” he looked up watching as Sear left.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In Sear’s home…
Well then, now that that is over with, I can take time off for myself.
Looking around, Sear thought about the battle he had against the saint back in the caverns.

How can I get stronger? Sure magical knowledge will help, but after a certain point my power will cap out…
Sitting down, he began doing something he hadn’t done in a long time, mediate. Closing his eyes, he sensed as he dropped into his inner being. It felt refreshing. After not being here for so long he was finally back to his true self.
As he looked around, he realized that his inner self had expanded. When before he might have had the mana of a master mage, he was now sure he could easily fight against the saint from before.
This is, but still not enough. I need to be even stronger. There are still plenty of being on this planet capable of killing me. Argh!
As he screamed his inner self compressed down on itself. Instantly, he was forced out of his inner sense. Opening his eyes, he coughed up blood. He could feel the backlash of what he did, whatever it was.
Blood slowly seeped from his ears and he tears of blood started flowing down his face.
What did I just do?
Closing his eyes, he once again went back to his inner self. Looking around, he realized it all went back to normal.
What if I try doing this on a small amount of mana?
Moving towards the edge of his inner self, he picked off about 1/1000th of his total mana and slowly began to compress it. At first, it felt normal, but after a few minutes, he could slowly feel pain flowing throughout his body.
He continued though, and slowly the mana began to compress into a smaller and smaller orb.
After what seemed like an hour or two, and the pain had become unbearable, something started to change. Looking at the orb of mana, it was now only 1/50th of its normal size.
At its edges though, he watched as small black balls slowly separated themselves from the mana and dispersed. He held the mana like this for another hour until he thought all of the black balls had vanished.
Looking back to this mana, he saw it undergo a drastic change. Well it wasn’t “drastic”, but instead quite weird.
The color of this mana slowly changed from a void-like black to a dark grey. A very dark grey.
What did I just do to the mana? Did I remove something from it? Maybe I’ll find out if I put the mana back to normal.
Slowly de-compressing the mana, he watched as it got back to normal, or well, close enough to normal.
Once he had let it go, it was much smaller than before. It was about 1/10th of its original size, and when he released it, it separated itself from the normal amount of his mana. Instead of the ocean he had before, he now had an ocean and a slightly brighter puddle next to it.
So, maybe I purified the mana? That’s the only thing I can think off. Maybe the more I purify, the lighter it gets until it eventually turns white?
Getting out of his inner mind, he felt an orgasmic pleasure flow through him.
This… this is… so much power!
The mana, being slightly purified, had become much stronger. The amount of mana that grey puddle gave him was 200-250% stronger than the mana he had used to create it.
YES! YES! Finally, I’ve found a way to make myself even stronger. This is good, oh so very good. The only problem is the time limit, but I’m sure that as I do it more and more, I’ll slowly start doing it faster. My body may now start doing it on its own now that I have started the process.
Smiling, he took a quick look outside. Seeing that it was currently before mid-night, he sat down once more and went back to his inner mind, ready to start again.

Peerless Hegemon
Warning: Can be quite tearjerking and depressing (or so others say). If you are weak to that and hates that kind of thing, then this story is not for you === Ye Feng lived two lives in one lifetime. First, he basked in the light of Righteousness, becoming an idol of peace and justice. Second, he trod the mired path of the Darkest Path, becoming an object of fear and death. One lifetime, Two Identities, countless experiences, still without purpose. A meaningless existence. An empty husk. In his selfishness of wanting to fill the void in him, he became the catalyst that destroyed Reality. He now controlled everything, ultimate power, uncontestable by none. But he cast it away, to be reborn anew. With a new name and a family, his goal was to understand, his place. To understand how to no longer feel empty. With his family consisting of a Reincarnated Twin Sister and Parents with inscrutable pasts, his desire was not that of grandeur. In this lifetime, he wishes not to hold power, not to gain eternal life, nor control of everything, he only wishes to live, and hopefully look at sunrise with a smile on his face. === Disclaimer: The story focuses on the Main Character’s emotional and personality growth. He is someone who is, obviously OP in some perspectives but almost crippled in others. He is not soft and does not spare anyone because it is “Bad” so expect that there would be genocide and some bloody encounters. I want this instead of just the MC’s search for life and its complication. Where Philosophy and values exist. A story where every action has proper consequences, and not everything can be conquered with a single punch (unless it can be, no need for an unnecessary complication if it can be avoided). Further Notes: This is a story that will gradually increase in word counts and become Chunkier as it progresses and will almost never be below 2000 words, but if the word count will only lengthen the chapter at the expense of a finished tale, it could and would be cut off before 2000 mark), give it a try, it won’t disappoint (I hope). And if by chance that you like it, giving a good Rating and Review will be encouraging to me and possible readers. Schedule: Monday and Friday If you want to read ahead and/or support me to creating this story, you can do it through my Patreon (link below the next chapter button.)
