(AN : Long Chapter and my most daring attempt at writing something. Enjoy :-D ...)
It was night time.
A Gu master with a bloody hole in his chest came to the Gu Yue clan. The guards wanted to stop him but when they saw the face and person's aura, they let him in and immediately called for the elders and the clan head.
The person who just entered the clan was heavily injured and radiated aura of a Rank 4 Gu master.
When the clan head Gu Yue Bo heard of this, he immediately rushed out of his room to the gates of Gu Yue clan. He came to the area and saw the person's face as well as injuries on his bodies. He was very shocked.
"Bother Jia Fu! What happened to you?"
Jia Fu had many bite marks on his body and a gaping hole in his stomach. He was badly injured and on verge of losing his consciousness.
"Get ready. The wolves are coming." Jia Fu managed to speak out some words before plopping on the ground.
"Hurry. Take him to clan's healing Gu master." Gu Yue Bo told the guards. He could have taken the Jia Fu's gu worm if Jia Fu died but their clan was of righteous path and doing so would lead to attacks of all the surrounding clans. Also he did not want Jia Fu to die in his clan. It would lead to severance of their relationship with Jia clan and also pose issue on their survival in this harsh environment.
"Gu Yue Qing Shu and Gu Yue Chi Shan, take some of your team members and check out the situation with the wolves and report back as soon as possible.", Clan head Gu Yue Bo ordered. He was worried since he knew the Jia Fu's power and the number of gu masters in the caravan. For the wolves to leave even him in this condition meant that it was a very strong force. Gu Yue Bo also felt a bit confused since this was not the time yet for wolves to attack as per results of scouting team sent earlier.
Standing by his side, Gu Yue Qing Shu and Gu Yue Chi Shan nodded. Both of them were Rank 2 Gu Masters, earlier being peak stage who was raised by Gu Yue Bo himself and later being upper stage who was a member of Chi Clan known for his strength.
They both immediately started making preparation for scouting the wolves strength and numbers.
'Something or Someone is the cause behind this wolf tide. But who and why? It even seems to have implicated the whole of Jia Fu's caravan. Were they the actual target and we are just facing consequences?' Such a thought angered Gu Yue Bo. This wolf tide would cause many deaths within the clansman.
✵✵✵
At the Healing elders hall.
After Jia Fu's condition was stabilized, Gu Yue Bo placed his hand in Jia Fu's stomach and used his primeval essense to check the body and aperture for checking any abormalities. He was shocked to see the gu worms held by Jia Fu. There were some of the well known Rank 4 gu worms like Rank 4 Fire Storm Gu while there were also many good Rank 2 and Rank 3 gu worms. There was one Rank 4 gu worm which Gu Yue Bo didn't recognize. It had lightning revolving around it and looked very powerful at a glance. If not for being surrounded by other elder and being the leader of a righteous faction's clan, along with the opposite party being a Rank 4 Jia clan's successor, Gu Yue Bo would have had the thought of stealing these gu worms. It was a pity that he was bounded by his own rules and regulations unlike Fang Yuan.

After a while, Gu Yue Qing Shu and Gu Yue Chi Shan came back with report that thousands of wolves were coming to attack the Gu Yue Village. After confirming the situation, Gu Yue Bo and other elders went to the battlefield to prepare.
On the way, Gu Yue Mo Chen encountered Mo Yan who was visibly worried.
"Grandpa, I am unable to find Mo Bei anywhere. I heard from some people that he went towards the direction of Bamboo forest but he hasn't come back yet. I looked for him everywhere but could not find him", Mo Yan spoke in a hurry. She realized that the situation was dire.
"Don't worry about him. Go to the battlefield and prepare. I will find Mo Bei and bring him to the underground place. Also, if I can't make it this time, Mo Bei will be your responsibility in the future. Now go.", Gu Yue Mo Chen had a fierce look on his face.
Mo Yan was not convinced but she nodded nonetheless and headed towards the battlefield.
✵✵✵
At the same time, Fang Yuan and Mo Bei had almost reach the centre of the stone forest. The deeper they got into the forest, the larger the stone pillars were, and the more stone monkeys lived inside them.
Mo Bei saw that Fang Yuan walked forward as he was observing a large stone pillar that at the center of the stone forest. It's circumference was wider than tens of men surrounding it and attempting to hug it. It matched with the description in the novel.
This stone pillar was the objective of this inheritance. As Fang Yuan took a crucial step and entered the alert zone of a group of monkeys, many monkeys jumped out to attack Fang Yuan and Mo Bei.
They both ran for a distance and started fighting with remaining monkeys who followed them. Mo Bei had become very acquainted with this since he had done this almost every day.
"Fang Yuan, let's go back for today. I think the objective of the inheritance is related to that large stone pillar."
"I too share the same thoughts." Fang Yuan replied while escaping from the monkeys. Different from his previous life, Fang Yuan didn't take much risks since Mo Bei was involved. As per the vow, if Mo Bei gets in a difficult situation, he had to ensure both his and Mo Bei's safety. This term was included as both to avoid anyone's betrayal and to also ensure safety of each of them.
They both rushed back to village. On their way back, they saw Gu masters being prepared for battle and the clan walls being fortified.
When Mo Bei asked around, a female gu master in the vicinity replied, "We are unlucky, there's a wolf tide,".
"Everyone get ready, the lightning wolf pack is about to assault the village," that gu master said. Once she finished her words, sirens resounded in the entire village.
"This alarm… there is a large-sized wolf pack attacking the village!"
"Quick, quick, gather all our group members here, there's a huge battle incoming."
"Damn it, I just got back, I wanted to get a good sleep…"
Gu Masters cursed as some showed a cold expression. At once, in the bamboo building and on the streets, Gu Masters could be seen moving quickly, gathering towards the four doors of the village as well as the outer walls.

Fang Yuan was not expecting this since a large scale wolf tide attack had only happened next year in his previous life. 'Is this due to a butterfly effect caused by me?', he wondered.
Mo Bei was even more shocked since there was no such detail of wolf tide occuring at this point of time in the novel. 'How did this happen? The only changes that happened due to me was snatching the Flower Wine Monk's Inheritance and not letting Fang Yuan kill Jia Jin Sheng at this point of time. Out of these, only factor which would affect the outside world was not killing Jia Jin Sheng. But he was only a D-grade Rank 1 gu master. What can he even do in these 3 months?'
Mo Bei and Fang Yuan were among the crowd, arriving at the base of the outer wall. Fang Yuan climbed up the wooden ladder, and peeked at the front lines.
Just outside the village, one could see hundreds and thousands of small dots rushing towards the village. They were the lightning wolves, thousands of them!
These wolves were all starving and seemed very angry for some reason. They were so fast that it seemed that this area would be under attack within 5 minutes.
He and Mo Bei were only middle stage Rank 1 gu masters. It was likely for them to die if they continued staying here. Even academy did not allow students to fight in these battles unless it was necessary.
"Run." Fang Yuan shouted. He was not worried about his safety but if Mo Bei were to come under attack, he might have to save him as per the vow taken by them.
Mo Bei knew better than to doubt Fang Yuan's word. He started running towards the centre of the village as fast as possible.
On the way, he encountered many Gu master who were sent to reinforce the walls. He had even personally come to know some of them during the period he was here as an Otherworldly Demon.
Seeing the despair on their faces, he knew that many of them would not come back alive. Deserting in such situation was also a crime and the deserters would face heavy punishment.
Although this was something Mo Bei had expected to see in the future, it was still too early for him. He hadn't faced such situation back at Earth.
'Is it the lightning crown wolf that was to appear in next August? I don't get it. How is it attacking whole year early.', Mo Bei recalled the scenes in the novel.
✵✵✵
Meanwhile, Fang Yuan was watching the incoming wolf tide.
Rank 1 gu masters were standing at the corners of the wall while Rank 2 gu master were standing above or on the side of the wall while Elders and Healer gu masters provided backup from behind.
"They're here." Fang Yuan stood on the wooden ladder, his eyes glimmering.
LIghtning wolves moved from the entire mountain, forming into a tidal wave and assaulted the village.
Rumble rumble…
They first fell into the pre-dug pitfalls outside the walls, their bodies penetrated by numerous bamboo spears, like dumplings inside a pot.
Some died on the spot, while others had some life remaining, crying out pitifully.
The wind blew, and the smell of blood entered everyone's noses, while wolf cries entered their ears.
Even Mo Bei far away could clearly hear those cries. He was shivering from fright. Even though he was a Gu master now and had supernatural powers, he could not let go of the natural instinct of ordinary human on Earth of being afraid of wolves and other predators.
The wolf packs attacked in a frenzy. Not only did they not stop, they were in fact stimulated by the blood and attacked even more furiously.
Rank one Gu Masters below the outside wall held in their tremendous fear, and risked their lives injecting primeval essence into the Steel Vine Gu and Poison Flower Gu. The wolves started being affected by poison.
Lightning wolves attacked the village walls, but as their injuries intensified and the poison accumulated, their movements gradually turned sluggish and many of them even died.
Rank 2 Gu masters started to use moonblades to kill the more powerful and resilient wolves. Fang Yuan shot some moonblades to restrict bold lightning wolves and then left his position to move towards safer area.
Fang Yuan came to a bamboo building. This was a modified building and was heavily reinforced. He squeezed his way in, where many Gu Masters were sitting inside, holding primeval stones and recovering their primeval essence. He was still a student and planned to leave soon.
✵✵✵
Mo Bei was still running when he found his Grandfather Gu Yue Mo Chen.
"Mo Bei, you're safe!" Gu Yue Mo Chen was happy to see Mo Bei unhurt. When he came to know that Mo Bei was last seen near bamboo forest, he hurriedly went to search for him.
"Grandpa, why is there a wolf tide this soon?", Mo Bei asked trying to make sense of this situation.
Gu Yue Mo Chen's face turned solemn when he heard this question. He being a elder was present when Jia Fu was taken to Medicinal hall elder Gu Yue Yao Ji. "It must be all due to that Jia clan bastard, Jia Fu. He was covered in bite marks when he came here. He must have provoked those wolves."
Hearing this, Mo Bei stood there completely stunned. He was dependent on his knowledge of the novel to determine future events and deal with it accordingly. But now everything he knew about the future events were about to take a total turn just like that.
A sudden thought came across his mind and he blurted out.
"Jia Jin Sheng is dead?!"
