“Explain yourself, Liyoxis!” I shout, my arms folded as he sits there like every other. “Demistar, please exit the room.” He says, and SHE folds her arms. “Oh, COOL. I guess I’m not cool enough to be here anymore.” She says, flipping him off as she walks over to the elevator.
“Sorry about her.” He says, rubbing his forehead. “What the hell do you think you’re doing?” I ask, and he suddenly focuses on me. “Ending this stupid conflict.” He says, surprising me. “Liyoxis… Why NOW? Why are you-YOU the only one that is like this?” I ask, as he continues to stare…
“Because I’m the lucky one. I’m the one who gets to live.” He says, and I suddenly realize how the power of Mind works… “You can see through true time… I’ve never obscured anything…” I say, as it dawns on me just how much he actually knows, only for my eyes to meet his cold, tired, and tortured gaze…
“That’s correct. Demitrivan, I chose you because I like you, because you’re the only one who could truly understand what it’s like to be who I am…” He says, as I seriously begin to consider joining sides with him…
“We can’t win, Liyoxis. It’s literally impossible… My mom has too much control over everything. I can’t lie to her, and once she finds out, she’ll tear everything apart, and then you’ll be gone for good… Please don’t do that to us, Liyoxis…” I explain, but his gaze ceases to alter…
“You won’t have to. I’ve already locked the gate to the Subspace Terminus.” He says, but I slap my face and shake my head. “You can’t be serious. You and Arigold MADE the Subspace Terminus You and I BOTH know that won’t stop anything!” I yell, as he looks behind me-

“It’s okay, Demitrivan, I’M keeping it locked.” Arigold says, as he walks up and kneels down to my level… “Liyoxis told me everything. If things are as they should be, then my sacrifice will have been worth it, my friend.” He says, taking my hand as I feel my cold static heart almost force a beat, as though the power of love were strong enough to transcend time…
“Y-Y-You… You are an ASSHOLE, Liyoxis!” I say, turning on a crystal to glare at him, as he chuckles. “I don’t see you complaining.” He says, as I thank my nonexistent gods for this moment… “That’s not all… Is it, Arigold?” He asks, surprising me as I look at Arigold and smile!
“I’ll need your help.” He says, standing up. “With the power of space and time, and also our love. We’ll be able to protect this world long enough.” He explains, as I feel my jubilation grow evermore! “Good lord…” Liyoxis mutters, as I decide to ignore him…
“Demitrivan, I’ve only opened the Subspace Terminus three times, those are the ONLY three points of access, and you’ll have to defend them with everything you have.” He explains, surprising me as I realize I had technically only been there two times in my life…
“So you’re actually serious… Liyoxis, I’m sorry… There’s no way Arigold and I are powerful enough…” I explain, and he gives me a single nod. “I know. But from what I can see, that doesn’t seem to have been the case.” He says, and I realize that everything IS okay…
“So all this time, Liyoxis… You really knew?” I ask, and he looks at Arigold, then at me again… “Why don’t you ask Arigold, HE was the one who put all of this into motion.” He says, and I of course look at Arigold, unsure of how it could possibly be him-

“It’s not me.” He explains, and I fold my arms again. “Come on, you beautiful bastard.” I say, deciding I have to get started at some point… “It won’t be easy, Arigold…” I say, looking away as we traverse time.
He sits next to me… “Demitrivan…” He begins, surprising me as he kisses my forehead- “I know.” He says, and my powers go haywire for a moment- “It’s over, you’re free.” He says, and I come to realize what this really means…

The Girl from the Mountain
Alexandra Bedford is a weapon, a young woman with telekinetic powers capable of leveling entire cities, born to fight in the desolate remains of post-apocalyptic North America. There is only one problem: she may be losing control of her abilities. Sixteen years after a global pandemic devastated the earth’s population, the lines in the old United States have been drawn between the Cheyenne Directorate in Colorado and the New England Alliance on the East Coast. The Directorate, of which Alexandra is a part, is a small but powerful organization dedicated to returning the country to its former glory. However, when a diplomatic mission to the New England Alliance goes wrong, Alexandra finds herself at the center of a bloody civil war. Battles are fought on the old highways and in dilapidated towns and once-great cities. And as the conflict escalates, all of North America faces the threat of being burnt away by nuclear fire. Against this backdrop of war, Alexandra tries to uncover the long-hidden secrets behind the plague, her abilities, and the two men fighting to decide the fate of the United States - Henry Bedford, Alexandra's father and leader of the Directorate, and John Martin, the mysterious figure at the heart of the New England Alliance who may hold the key to everything she seeks. None of this will matter, however, unless Alexandra can prevent the power growing inside her from taking over and consuming the very world she is fighting to save. Author's Notes: I appreciate you taking a look at my novel, The Girl from the Mountain. If you're a fan of post-apocalyptic fiction, military thrillers, and/or cosmic horror, I think you'll enjoy this story. I completed the novel's first draft back in 2011 and made significant changes in 2016. Since then, I've more-or-less sat on the manuscript while working on other projects. Thanks to a bit of prodding, I've decided to send this story out into the wild with some touch-ups and additional revisions. I welcome any comments or criticisms, and I hope you enjoy The Girl from the Mountain!

Dragonfall
This fiction is based on a short story I wrote inspired by a prompt on r/WritingPrompts. Contrary to my plans, I haven't sketched out the story in detail or written anything ahead of time. I've discovered I don't do well at that. I'm just writing this thing and we'll see where it takes us, OK? Nothing every came easy to Ryan Shakespeare, but as an elite British Army sniper he had found a niche that suited him, right up to the point at which he found himself summoned to a world far from his own to fulfil the job of a champion. Luckily, Ryan arrived with his experimental sniper rifle, so surely killing the dragon and getting his chance to go home would be a simple job, right? But Ryan should have known better, because nothing ever comes easy. Caught up in the politics of the Draconic League, Ryan will need to keep all his wits about him and use every resource at his disposal if he's going to persuade these people to let him do his job and go home.
