"Hey, lady."
"Hey honey."
In just those two words, just the sound of her voice, relief flooded Tracy.
"I got your message. I tried to contact you. Honest I did."
"I know. I heard you. You couldn't hear me though."
"Got caught in a sandstorm." Tracy paused. Hina stayed quiet. "I'm okay now. It's all over. My old buddy Leroux is helping us secure a ship home."
Silence on the other end. Then sniffling.
He had no words, no way to comfort her in their loss.
"I'm sorry I couldn't be there. I know you need me now more than ever. I know we both knew this loss was likely. But it still hurts. I—"
She cut him off. "Trace. She's fine."
"She?"
"The baby. She's fine."
The words echoed in his ears. He fumbled over words, stammering.
"W—we're having a little girl? What about you?"
"I gave the doctor a scare. Had an irregularity crop up. But now that they've identified it they can put precautions in place. They monitored me for a few days, but had me go home. Things turned back around."
Tracy realized that her sniffles weren't tears of sorrow, but tears of joy. Just like his.
"I don't know if it will work, but do you want to try video comm for a moment?"
"Yes."
They tried. Against all odds it established a connection.
Though grainy and appearing out of focus, Tracy could see Hina plain as day. Oh, how he'd missed that face. It felt like eternity.
"Hey babe. There's someone I want you to meet."
Tracy squatted, bringing the comm down to Ashton's eye level.

Tracy lowered Ashton into the padded cryo chamber. The shot administered to the boy wore him out quick, inducing a drowsy state that curbed any fear of entering a claustrophobic chamber that would seal vacuum tight, a mechanical womb designed to keep him alive for the not quite three month journey home, back to Earth.

After the chamber sealed itself, Tracy watched Ashton's innocent face through the display window. Though he'd been through more than any small child should ever have to endure, peace masked his face.
Tracy couldn't say the same for Roy. Hollow eyes had stared up at him, as Tracy lowered Roy into the cryo tube. The once jabbering fugitive complied now in docile obedience, mumbling incoherent utterances under his breath. As Tracy had sealed the tube, Roy's eyes stared not at him, but past him, unable to see what lay in front of him, unaware of anything at all.
Whether an act the fugitive put on, or a real mental condition, Roy would face the courts, he would stand trial for his deeds. Justice would be met.
Tracy then removed his clothes and donned his own cryo jumpsuit. He laid his head back as the nursebot administered him with the drowsy adult dosage. Even before the medication kicked in, he felt at peace. He'd captured Roy. That was all finally behind him. He could rest now, satisfied. Almost.
Hina tugged at his mind. Would she make it? Would she survive? Anything could happen while he was under ice. For him it would be a few blinks later, but for Hina, she still had a large chunk of time, months without Tracy. Only time would tell.
As he closed his eyes, he offered up prayers and supplications to God, that his poor wife would be taken care of while he journeyed across the great empty black of starless space.
He had a daughter to meet, a son to introduce, and a wife to embrace.
***
From the ground below, Sheriff Blaine Leroux watched as the ship streaked across the evening heavens, shrinking into ball of light, until it broke away from the horizon joining the stars in the Martian sky.
He smiled, sad to see Tracy go, but happy for his friend all the same.
With a loose grip on the reins, Leroux gave Chasm a light kick with his dirty boots, steering him into the sunset.
"Giddyup boy. We got us a long ride back to Tharsis."

8 66The Swimming Pool from Another Freaking Dimension
When the world’s on fire and your garden sprinkler is not going to cut it, there’s only one thing to do: just dig. But the town’s hillbillies are laughing behind your back and your so-called mates are laying bets on you burying yourself alive and venomous spiders are breeding in your 3D printer and those fires are inching closer every freaking day. Just dig, baby. Stranded in a mountaintop suburb monitored by military drones and plagued by wildlife and weather gone crazy, Dezzy and his teenaged neighbour, Sonia, are just trying to save their homes from the next megafires – by digging the biggest, deepest, most badass swimming pool possible. A chlorinated moat at the edge of their derelict suburb that might also provide a refreshing dip in between raging infernos. Only they dig up more than they bargained for, a hell of a lot more. Never mind the secret military base, the burn-scarred locals and their Truth Church, or those birds attacking people out of the blue, because Dezzy and Sonia have bigger things to worry about, things perhaps not of this freaking near-future reality.

There was something Freudian in this, but Felix had a weak spot for women like his mother - outwardly soft and gentle, but strong and hard on the inside. And it was exactly the impression Ladybug left him with.Felix was smart enough to put two and two together.Maybe he still needed some proves, that would confirm his suspicions for 100%. Like the proves he needed to make sure Gabriel was Shadow Moth. But Felix used to trust his intuition and logic, so at this moment he was almost sure: the Marinette-girl was Ladybug.1 Another motive2 Time to pair up3 Ally or rival4 Family dinner5 Getting closer6 Among friends7 Bright future8 Emergency9 Movie night 110 Movie night 211 Illusions of perception12 Social collisions13 Stolen life14 Once is enoughOk, this is my old fic that I just noticed wasn't posted on Wattpad, so feel free to finish reading it on Ao3 (works/35900929) or wait for me to post it here!
8 200Magic Continent Zero
Long ago the world was in peril with infighting and bickering. A great war broke out when the invading demon continent attacked the human continent. The demons are much stronger than the humans but the humans were able to hold off the demons with their ability to use magic. It all seemed lost until a great wizard rose up and helped lead the humans to victory. A talent like the world has never seen. His profound understandings of magic made him respected by all the nobles on the continent. After the war he turned down all positions and decided to only teach the students he wanted noble or not. These were the choosen 7 children and only them were given his direct knowledge on magic. However, 20 years ago a great tradgedy befell the human continent. No one knows the exact details but what was known is a great magical barrier went up over 1/3 of the entire human continent that has stood ever since. The teacher was betrayed by one of his students. Himself and the rest of his students scattered across the human continent and into obscurity. Our protagonist is of low birth and has no talent but longs to learn magic. Usually only the rich nobles can afford magic teachers and the books needed. Will he ever become the great wizard he wishes to be? ***** There are no release dates for this story but I tend to try to drop 3 chapters a week spaced 2-3 days apart from each other.
