《MHA: The Wolf of the End》Chapter 11

“Mother!” I shriek out!
“W-wa… a-ar..” My brain stumped for words to voice my dread.
“Oh, my Moon Shadow! I’m so happy you’re speechless to see your loving mother! But while we are at school, please call me Sensei!” She beams at my misfortune.
“MOTHER!” The classes yells out, all except Mina and Momo. Though they both wore different faces. Momo’s was full of misplaced joy, while Mina’s displayed the correct emotion for the situation…
Fear!
Why do the Gods hate me… I only wanted to have a good school life! Is that so hard to ask!
“Everyone settle down…” Our teacher, Mr Aizawa droned out. Looking more irritated by the second.
“And as for you, Frey. Please behave, you’re a teacher now! So act like one!” His stern words made me fear for my new teacher’s soul. Was he a mad man for talking to my Mother like that, or did he have two massive rocks down stairs!?
I held my breath as I turned to my Mother, expecting the earth to shatter around us as we all fall into Hel’s domain. But what I saw instead threw me for a loop…
Instead of rage… She was just laughing!
“HAHA! Oh Shoto-chan! You may look older, but it seems time has had no affect on that personality of yours has it!”
“It seems you haven’t changed either Frey… Well, except you seem to have calmed a bit.”
Calmed? This woman that I call Mother was WORSE before!?
“Anyway, you’ve pulled us off course long enough!” He says while looking back to the class. His face still devoid of happiness.
“Students, this demon in human clothes is called Frey Wulfric. She will be your home room teacher alongside me. You may be asking ‘Why have 2 homeroom teachers?’… That’s simple…”
He looks to see if everyone is paying attention before stating…
“It has been noted that a few of our freshmen this year seem to have a problem with control of their quirks. Usually, this isn’t a big problem normally, but the ones this time have quirks that could hurt not just a lot of people around them… But also themselves… so to keep everyone safe and healthy, the higher-ups decided that one teacher wasn’t enough…” He pointed to Mother while continuing…
“Frey here has a similar ability to me that helps us train individuals with situations like this… But don’t let that comfort you, we won’t always be around to help you control your impractical quirks…”
His eyes stare into Izuku next to me. Said person wiggled under his heated dead stare…

Did Izuku have a problem with his quirk?
“Anyways, as I was saying before the interruption, we are going to have you all perform physical exams using your quirks. I know you were told from a young age all were created equal… I’m here to tell you that’s not, in fact, true…”
He stares at me, “Wulfric, you scored the highest on the practical exam. What distance were you able to throw a softball in junior high?” Everyone stares at me expectantly… well all but the blonde kid. His stare was filled with hate for some reason? Did I do something wrong?
“Well, my average was 148 meters if I remember correctly?” An audible gasp rang through the group, shocked by my confession… Why is everyone looking at me weirdly?
“That’s without your quirk!” Mina yelled out, surprising me.
“Yes… Why?”
“AHUM!” Aizawa grabbed our attention once more and continued…
“Right, try doing it with your quirk this time…” He held out a small white ball.
I shrug my shoulders and walk up grabbing the ball. I proceed to walk over towards the marked out circle for me and wait for instructions.
“Anything goes, just stay in the circle…”
“Alright then!” I say as I get a little eager, he said anything goes right! Then time to-
“Oh Felir! Wait just a moment!” My Mother says as she runs up to me, her purple jacket hiding her and I’s conversation. She signals for me to crouch for her, and whispers in my ear…
“Now Felir, you are not allowed to transform is that clear?” Her whisper dampening my good mood, what is this bull shit!
I whisper back with a little annoyance,“Why Mother! Why do you never seem to let me use my full power! How am I suppose to get better if I’m only ever using half!” I say, tired of this. Do my parents not trust me!
My Mother must see how hurt I am, for she hesitates before answering…
“Felir… Its not that we don’t trust you… It’s just… It’s just that it seems every time you transform… you may not even realize it… but, you lose all reason…” She looks down, ashamed for some unknown reason…
“It may be because your Father and my quirks were already powerful… But it seems that you’re not able to control your quirk fully yet because of how powerful it is… and I… I just don’t want you to end up hurt my Moon Shadow…”
Her eyes water a bit, making me feel worse and worse by the second…

Did I really not remember?
Did I really lose control?
“Okay, Mother…” I finally cave, not wanting to hurt her more.
“Thank you my little Felir.” She softly smiles up at me, a genuine smile that rarely ever popped up.
“I promise you, Mother!…” I gently grasp her hands, “One day I will conquer this beast within me and make you proud!” I lean down and kiss her forehead and turn to get ready!
I hear just a faint whisper…
“I know you will… My Felir…”
“Go on then…” Aizawa final speaks up, “You’re wasting our time.”
“Sorry teach, I’ll get right on it then!” I stretch my arms readying my throw.
Time to get a little serious.
My power rushes out of me like red fire, energy engulfing my surroundings in hot raging destruction! The ground beneath my feet atomizes, as my arms and legs get consumed by the energy, turning my limbs into scarlet flames.
I concentrate, the second my mind slips my power will run amuck. I firmly clasp the ball in my paw, ready to be thrown.
I smirk, man this power is intoxicating! I get into stance, it’s time!
I lean into my pitch as I put all my power into the throw! My power unleashing chaos as the ball gets saturated in the destructive energy. The air, fearing my power, splits away as I launch the ball. A sound, like super heated metal touching ice screams out. The ball tears through the air, nothing stopping its momentum.
A boom roars after its launch, shaking the ground as cracks spread from my feet. The ball blasts to a distance I can barely see…
I stand back up as silence lays across the field, turning to see if I did well. What greeted me was blank stares, dead fish eyes, and two smiling faces.
“All of you need to know your full capabilities…” Aizawa states, shaking everyone out of their shock. He lifts the reader up for everyone to see… 1125 METERS! Man, I’m doing all right! My Father can throw farther, but I’m catching up!
My Mother chimes in, “It’s how you all will find out if you’re capable of being a pro or not!”
Everyone gasps in wonder, some started talking about my score. Others talking about their excitement to proceed with the exam, saying how fun it looks.
“So this looks fun huh? Idiots, you think this is all fun and games? You will all be competing in 8 physical tests.” His smile darkened, “These are designed to see your potential, whoever comes in last place has none…”
A gold haired boy asks, “What happens to the person in last place?” The question silences all the kids.
“They’ll be expelled.” My mother chimes in… Damn, that’s pretty harsh.
“WAhh!” My class mates started to protest but I zoned everything out. My only focus was my friend beside me.
I notice Izuku’s face was stained in fear, his body shaking where he stands.
What’s his deal?
“Izuku..” I whisper hoping he hears me. He looks up at me, worry and fear laced his words.
“W-what’s w-wrong F-felir?!” He stammers as he grips his right wrist.
“What’s wrong Izuku? Why do you look like you have seen Garner at the gates? What’s worrying you?”
He wrestles with telling me his woes, his face scrunches up as he looks left and right, then down at his griped hand… He builds up enough confidence to tell me his plight…
“Well, you see Felir… I don’t have good control over my quirk yet…” He doesn’t look me in the eye as he continues in shame.
“I can only go 100% or nothing right now… And if I use it… It shatters my bones and shreds my muscle like paper…”
I grimace at the thought, this reminds me of when I first started to use my own quirk.
I guess there are others like me huh?! Thought I was the only one that had a quirk that could hurt me, how wrong I was…
Wait! I could help him then!
“Well, that sounds similar to when I first gained my quirk! How crazy a coincidence huh!” I smile down, hoping to alleviate a little the fear that tangles his heart.
He turns his head like a swivel and stares at me bugged eyed. His mouth opening and closing like a fish out of water.
“What! REALLY! Then maybe… You could give me some pointers?!” Hope burned in his eyes, maybe I could help him.
“Well, let’s talk a bit before our turns. Maybe we can come up with some way to help you by then!”
“Yeah!”
We both grinned. Me because I can help a friend out, Izuku, because maybe he won’t be kicked out of UA!
As we talked over strategy’s and how his quirk works, I look up towards Sol and think…
Maybe this school life will be fun after all.

The Kodoku Game
In Japanese folklore, there once existed an ancient technique among alchemists for harvesting the strongest poison known to man. A poison so vicious, so horrendous, that a single drop could incapacitate an entire nation of humans, several times over. A poison so intense that a single drop could turn the tides of a war on its head. As potent as it appeared however, this poison could be harvested from the blood of a single insect alone- an insect the alchemist’s called the ‘Kodoku’. As lucrative as was attaining this poison however, the problem lied in identifying this insect- its appearance, shape and size changed from region to region and from continent to continent. Sometimes it took the appearance of a ladybug and other times a horned-beetle. In order to determine the identity of this special insect the alchemists came up with an ingenious method. They created an impregnable jar of clay out of the best sandstone they could find and placed hundreds of different insects into the same jar. The jar was made with such great mastery that it allowed no insects to escape and allowed no objects to enter. The laws of nature dictated that the insects would remain together in the jar forever. However, it turned out that as time went on, the insects’ hunger for food and power caused them to turn against each other- one insect ate another until only one remained. This sole insect contained a poison that far surpassed that of all the others and became stronger as it ate more and more insects. The alchemists at this point had succeeded in identifying the Kodoku and could extract it’s poison as long as they continued to feed it regularly. Although this folklore ends here, the actual story does not. One day, as the alchemists cheered in joy of having identified the Kodoku they so eagerly wanted, they forgot to close the lid on the very jar that was considered to be completely impregnable. This small gap was just large enough for the Kodoku inside to crawl out. Famished from not having been fed for weeks, the Kodoku ended up eating the very alchemists that nourished its growth until not even the bones remained. Yet, the Kodoku’s hunger didn’t seem to subside in the slightest. So it traveled to the next village and began eating whatever it could find there. Its poison made it unparalleled in strength and slowly but surely it began to dwindle down the population of the entire city. Yet its hunger only continued to grow. So it traveled to the next city over and ate all it could there. Very soon, the Kodoku couldn’t find any more food to eat. There was no one left to eat and no one left to spectate. So it stood there, by itself pondering what possibly was left to eat that could satiate its hunger. But there was one thing left that Kodoku realized it had never eaten. Itself.
