The most popular way of finding out one's aura type is through the Water Divination. Divination requires one to float a leaf atop a glass of water. The Nen practitioners will place their hands around the glass and perform Ren. The resulting effect from one's aura contacting the glass will determine a person's aura type.
If the volume of the water changes, the user is an Enhancer.
If the taste of the water changes, the user is a Transmuter.
If impurities appear in the water, the user is a Conjurer.
If the color of the water changes, the user is an Emitter.
If the leaf moves on the water's surface, the user is a Manipulator.
If a completely different change appears, the user is a Specialist.
It is best to base a Nen ability on one's individual aura type. Though it is possible for one to develop abilities outside of his primary aura type, one is typically less proficient at using those abilities. By creating an ability that one isn't suited for, one risks stagnating their potential by overloading their capacity for using Nen.
The last phase of the Nen is Hatsu, Act. Hatsu is one's personal expression of Nen. It can be created based on most natural Nen type or the one with lower affinity, but it is always better the choose the one person has %100 with it. Hatsu is used to project one's aura to carry out a certain function, creating a special and unique paranormal ability that is colloquially called Nen ability, Hatsu ability, or simply Hatsu.
My accidental Water Divination showed I had Specialization type of Nen. I was scared of this one most because, in this type of Nen, there is no restriction. Basically, any ability is not fitting to the other five types considered Specialization.
I was already frustrated because I had only few silly ideas how to create my own Hatsu, now I had no idea at all. With other types, I could at least gain some idea with the examples in front of me. I always thought I would have Transmutation type because of Crow's stupid character analysis.

"I told you either Transmutation or Specialization. I was right anyway." Crow slip through my frustration.
I still had 90 days to create my own power, and I had some ideas suddenly appeared in my mind. I believe, the sudden epiphany is related to discovering Nen power. Because, the Nen powers are closely related to personality, giving that I suddenly had few ideas, made me think, the idea itself was power lying inside of me.
90 days later.
Today was the day of my biggest fight since I arrived at this world. I was going to fight with, one of the powerhouses stayed on the 200th floor for more than five years. The man's name was Keras, and his Nen type was Enchanter. It was good and bad for me because my Nen power required for me to hit the enemy from close distance, but also I would be close to the enemy.
After a month of hard work, two months ago I created my own Hatsu. Its limits were still not fully discovered, but it was a promising power the way it is.
I walked to the ring and waited for my opponent. This fight was one of the biggest fights of the last few years. Even when there was a requirement for one to fight once in 90 days, most of the time one side would admit defeat, because everybody had four chance of losses.
Keras also came to the stage with blue attire he was wearing in fights. It was clothing like a wrestler would wear. He was two meter in height and at least 200 kilograms in weight. He looked at me as a piece of wood, he could break with his fingers.
A few weeks earlier, I found a cd, recorded with Keras's fight. I had to pay a small fortune for it but worth it. His Hatsu was a double-edged sword, increasing his strength, speed and bodily defense several folds but after 10 minutes of using, he would be paralyzed for a day. It was risky, but after seeing what he has done to his enemy, I understand why he chose this Hatsu. He could actually break me in two if I let him.

I activated my Hatsu immediately, without waiting referee to give the signal. Because my Hatsu had more than one utility. Seven different actually. The ability I could use was random for each time when I created the gloves on my hands, with my Zetsu. The gloves were darkest black metal, and there was black number 777 on top of it. When I activate the Hatsu, the number would change the color to one of the colors in the rainbow. I couldn't change the color for a half day, and I had to fight with the color showed up.
I had to figure out different plans for each color, that is why I activated my Hatsu as soon as my opponent arrived. This time the color was red. It was shining like flames in the abyss. In every color, to activate its special power, I had to hit my opponent 7 times in 7 seconds while counting each of them out loud. If I couldn't hit 7 times, the damage would affect me instead. And I learned it in a hard way.
My opponent, Keras looked at my gloves smiling. It looked as I was afraid of him and I couldn't wait for the referee to activate my Hatsu. Everyone has seen it should think the same way, I couldn't blame them, but these gloves were the pain in the ass, and I had to activate them early.
I already planned my attacks. Red meant the explosion. So long as I could hit my opponent 7 times, my last fist would explode. Its power was raising with the power of fist and the Nen I inserted inside it. All I had to do was hitting six weak fists to trick him, and blow him with my most powerful fist.
I could punch normal as long as I haven't started to count, so I was thinking to take my time to not the frighten others. My aim was to create a false idea, make others think that it has nothing to do with the 7th fist, but it is all about the time I am stalling.
I waited for my enemy to approach and attack me, while I was dodging, running and punching from time to time. After 15 minutes, I took out three Kunai with seal and threw them around the Keras. I flashed to one of his back and punched him and said "One!"
The condition of the counting out loud was frustrating, but I didn't have to shout, I could whisper, as long as people in 10 meters proximity could hear me clearly.
I flashed to another Kunai and punched him slowly again, and said "Two!"
"Three! Four! Five! Six!"
After six weak punches, my opponent was relaxed and smiled while running to me, I draw my right arm to back, preparing my deadliest punch. I also used Lighting Style Thor's Hammer. This Jutsu itself was enough to deal serious damage, with my fist filled with Zhengi and 7th explosive fist, I would deal serious damage.
The might of my fist started to shatter the air itself. My fist started to glow in red, blue and white in color. "SEVEN!"
In just a second a red mist appeared where my opponent was standing. All onlookers gulped heavily. The hundreds of thousands of people were silent. All the arena was silent. You could hear a pin drop.
"Oops?"
