《Angel's Song: Requiem of the Dreams》189. Falcon's Gift (I)

Snow couldn’t believe her luck. She had a large slice of apple pie and a large scoop of green tea ice cream. Usually, she would be too busy to be able to catch this heavenly meal. She especially liked the softness of the ice cream that wasn’t overly sweet. With a gulping bite, she savored the taste of the food before her.
Peace and excitement caressed in her mind as she enjoyed the desert before her. Today, she was excited as she had made special orders to Falcon for her new swords and armor. She was buying time to wait for it to strike nine.
When she was done, savoring her food, she quickly went over to the Falcon blacksmith shop on the second floor. The whole area was rented out specifically for him.
Upon entrance, she saw large furnaces and magical tools laid out for him to work. As she entered, the heavy smell of soot, metal, and a mixture of iron was present. He was pounding away at his hot sword on the anvil.
She watches diligently, watching his every action. His muscular arms moved with an even beat, smashing away with a hammer. It was a mesmerizing sight to behold to see a mastercraftsmen work his specialty—a passionate fire burning in his gaze. A hint of madness could be felt with every slam of his hammer.
Quietly, Snow waited until he finished. Knowing full well what it felt like to be disrupted in the flow.
Falcon took a bit of time, he finally finished with his work. He straightened his back, and with a satisfied smile, he observed his work as he slipped the sword into the water. A loud hiss followed after. When he turned towards Snow, he yelped.
“What in the world?!” Falcon cried out in surprise that he almost dropped his tongue. “What are you doing standing over there like a ghost? You almost gave me a heart attack!”
Snow chuckled. “It’s because I didn’t want to break your concentration.”
Falcon snorted, “I lost some life, kiddo, how are you going to compensate for that?”
Snow shrugged, smugly smiling away.
“Bah.” Falcon placed his work down, he grabbed a towel and wiped his hand. He then walked over towards her. “I have finished your order. Six different types of swords are made from rare materials. They are the best I have made. Took longer to make these beauties compared to all the others. Had to hire more helpers for the extra orders I couldn’t do.”
Falcon went to the back as he searched for what he was looking for.
“I even made the sword case that you wanted,” Falcon proudly stated, bringing the case where he stowed away the blades. It was a large case as tall as her being pushed around on wheels. The case opened with a click, showing six different colored swords, majestically in place as if they could be handled by royalty. They glimmered and shone. Falcon reached in, pulling out the first sword.

“This beauty here is called BlackWidow,” Falcon spoke, his eyes marveling at his own creation. “Made from the Spider Queen's core that Dairen had hunted and merged with the leftover crystals from the ManaBeast. Stab this sucker into anyone, and I guarantee you would have a fun time.” He snickered as he handed the weapon to her.
The blade was light, too light for her taste, but she could feel it humming in her hands whenever she swung it. Red intricate letterings were enchanted in magic, telling her that she needed more hidden secrets to find out. The wrappings on its end were black and red, harmonizing with the whole piece.
Falcon took out another, the next one was pure white even down to its hilt. A white griffin design was engraved deeply into the blade. A gold tassel was attached at the end. Snow placed the Black Widow back into its respective spot and was handed the white sword.
“Let’s just say this is an upgrade to the sword that you have. I call her the White Gryphon. Made from a Gryphon’s bones and mixed with the famous Mythril. This sword has the best affinity with you. It conducts a high level of holy energy.” Falcon handed it to her, which she greedily took.
Snow eyes became round, excited at the amount of detail, and power was behind the long katana. She could feel her power pulsating angrily with every touch that her body was ecstatic. She couldn’t help but wonder how it would do against an enemy monster.
“Now lass, don’t drool over her, just her. I got more pretties to come.” Falcon snicker, realizing why she was so drawn to the weapon. He took White Gryphon from her hand and placed another sword. This time, it was a lot bigger than the other two. “This here is called the Twin Moon Blades. Beautiful little critter with an ability to break apart into two. The problem with this sword is that it can not cut through bones, but it does not mean it's worthless. Made from Myrthil and melted from the MoonFlower turtles. Its hardness level, in some sense, is considered almost indestructible.”
Snow gladly took the next. It was a lot heavier than the other two, realizing the speed from which the blade can be swung needed much more adjustment than she liked. Still, it wasn’t difficult for her to move. The green handle with brown snakeskin decorated both blades with sharp edges that reminded her of shark teeth were present down both edges.
“Press the button over here.” Falcon directed. Snow followed, and she broke in half. Two swords, one smaller than the other, completely throwing her off with the weight in hand. It was something she needed to get used to, but she enjoyed the two's swift feeling even more.

“Now, this is called Eye of the Horus.” Falcon took the sword she had in hand and traded an all brown sword with emerald blue lines that glowed with mana.
Snow couldn’t help but stare in awe at the beauty of it. She felt the weight of this sword was heavier with a loud clunk than all the other swords she handled. She needed to pour her whole body to swing it, making her frown. It was two thirds the size of her.
“Why did you make it so large?” Snow asked; she did specifically ask for the same size as the rest.
“Because my weapons asked to be made big,” Falcon grunted, puffing up and a bit offended by Snow’s words. “I listened to the voice of the weapon, and this weapon told me that you can handle him.”
Snow gaped for a moment, confused at his words. She wasn’t sure if Falcon was making things up, but she had heard legends of the weapons that had their own spirit in them.
Falcon gruffly shoved the next sword in her hand, taking the one that she had. “This one is called Gremlin.”
“Gremlin?” Snow was confused at the name that it was given. Mostly because out of all the ones she had, this name wasn’t as epic as the rest.
The sword in her hand was half the average size of a regular sword. It’s clean gold and black hilt was neatly wrapped with a cloth. Its hilt was also golden in nature, giving it its own allure. Something about it made her want to stash it in her coat or armor, hidden away from plain sight. Strangely she thought she heard the sword grumble at her, causing her to tilt her head. For a moment, she thought she heard things.
“Yea, because this bastard won’t stop grumbling,” Falcon answered her.
“Huh?” Snow was completely confused, but for some reason, she couldn’t help but think what he said was true. It was like the sword was whining to her about every little thing, asking for two things: to be hidden or to stab it open.
Falcon quickly took the sword in her hand and replaced it with another. He didn’t want to talk about the Gremlin as much as he wanted to show the last sword. This sword was mesmerizingly beautiful. Long slender sword that had a slight curve. The hilt was wrapped with a gentle wash of pink and black, reminding her of an elegant lady blushing behind a fan. Even the way the handle was wrapped made Snow worry that she would dirty her hands on it. The tassels at the end were mixed with gold and black strings, braided together lovely. At the end of it was a lucky charm coin.
“The best of all my creations, Lady Luck. Made from the remains of your sword, you have beaten up.” Falcon said with a hint of dissatisfaction with her handling of her blade. “I swear, you need to take care of your weapons.”
Out of all the swords, Snow felt the most harmonious feeling between them. Something about how it hugged into her hand like a lover made her feel as she was part of the sword itself.
Compared to White Gryphon, this sword sang with her.
Snow placed the last sword away into the sword case. With a snap, it folded and closed.
“I’ll tell you a little secret.” Falcon leaned over, looking around so nobody could hear. “These six are my best creations yet. Each enchanted with magic and has its own little surprises that you would like. Keep them well and out of sight from the others. Plus.” He patted the case, “nobody but you can open this box.” He grinned and winked at her.
“Thanks, Falcon, I owe you one.” She grinned back, her eyes twinkling at the new toys that she was given.
“Now, your armor hasn’t changed much. Small defensive properties have been added, and a few things have been changed.”
Falcon went over, grabbing a large piece of armor as he brought it over. It was broken into two parts, the top and the bottom. When she picked it up, she saw the intricate laces of metal entwined against each other as if woven, reminding her of fish scales. Even the durability of it was simply elastic, wondering how it could protect her.
“Made from Wyvern scales and heated with magical fire. I would say a punch from an ogre wouldn’t phase you, but if you get stomped by a dragon, let’s just say you will have very ugly broken bones and bruises.”
“It’s that strong?” Snow gaped.
“Of course. Who do you think worked on it?” Falcon slapped his chest in front of her.
