《Angel's Song: Requiem of the Dreams》177. The disturbance (III)

A powerful blast of magic erupted outwards. Jack was furious that he was losing control. He wanted to see the scenario that he created in his mind coming to life. Despising that things were not going his way.
Both Mike and Dairen power and magic doubled in strength. Their movements were a lot sharper and faster than before, allowing them to move forward without restraint. Dairen arrows pierced through the air, taking down anyone who was near. While Mike was dancing around with his sword, he pushed through the surge of crowds surrounding him.
Their power was immense, allowing them to take control with ease. Jack even joins in to keep the two from wiping them out.
Suddenly, out of nowhere, the ground shook.
For a brief moment, everyone stood still, wondering what was causing such a terrifying movement.
Off in the distance, a black silhouette was getting closer and closer. Each step it took, the harder the ground thump with anticipations at whatever was bound to come.
“The king has arrived.” Jack started with glee. He threw up his hands in the air, cackling with his head thrown back.
Snow's head was splitting in pain. The rushing magic was overpowering her own sense of self. She couldn’t tell which way was up or down as the swirl of dungeon magic was trying to crush her very will.
She struggled to push the mind magic that meant to control her. Quickly, wrapping herself tightly as best as she could, she focused.
At first, it was difficult. The storming array of magic was swirling around her to the point where she couldn’t see in front of her, but the more she focused, the more her vision started to come back.
Eventually, with great effort, she was able to see once again.
Standing amid the battlefield, she saw death, chaos, and even carnage present everywhere. Most of the dead bodies on the ground were monsters that littered around her in a circle.
Suddenly, a thundering sound of a roar echoed in the field. A thundering footsteps could be felt underneath their feet. The pebbles ump up and down with a racket. Hundreds of black silhouettes could be seen off in the distance.
They got closer and closer as monsters appeared before them in swarms. They were exactly like the raptors that raided the campsite.
People scurried around, trying to push back the swarm of raptors rushing alongside the cold-blooded monster. It had a giant head, long tail, long arms, and muscled legs. A simple step caused the ground to shudder, making people wobble on the ground to get footing. Golden platings of armor-like skin were present on its body, giving it a holy feel.

Sharp spines protruded out of its back, while its gaping jaws were lined with sharp white teeth. A foul stench of its breath permeated the air, making a few cough out loud and become slightly ill. In the middle of its chest was a large black crystal that screamed that it was the dungeon core they were looking for. The monster's name was MindDiver. The worst of its kind.
Snow knew the stories behind the MindDiver. It would freeze up its enemy with its ability when it hunted, but understanding that the monster was part of the dungeon core made it ten times worse.
The oozing energy from the dungeon core was spewing out of its body, telling everyone it was here. Snow was astounded at the way the core would present itself in such a way that if she hadn't seen a dungeon core, she would have believed that it was just another crystal on its chest.
A mighty roar escaped its lips, causing everyone to temporarily shake in fear.
Even Snow was affected by its sudden power, temporarily causing her to shudder. Her mind was wrapped around once again with the magic, trying to push her back into a mindless state.
“Wake up!” Mike shouted, a sense of strong energy rebuttal against the mighty roar. Taking away the fear ingrained in their heart. Everyone, who heard his voice, was shaken awake, realizing the temporary status that they were put under. Even Snow's mind was cleared away.
“Monster hoards incoming!” Mike was the first one to move, followed by Dairen and then Snow.
Jack’s crew and the unsuspecting monster hoard coming from the other end was an unexpected fight. How they didn’t notice such a large group of monsters until now boggled their mind.
The black magic, given by the dungeon, was leaking out of Jack and the others, turning into liquid as it hit the ground with a hiss.
A two-way battle was ensuing. Snow gritted her teeth, realizing the danger they were in. They couldn’t hold both sides.
Once again, she summoned up her magical power that she used too. With force, she yelled. “Holy Redemption!” This time, she aimed it at the other team leaders like Audrey, Rodney, Angie, and a handful more high-level Players that were a few steps behind in power.
The amount of energy poured out of her body was quick, making her weak on the knees. Eventually, the energy finally stopped seeping out of her, allowing her to stand up.

Even with Mike and Dairen, slaying the enemy with ease. They were still overwhelmed. Dairen’s minions weren’t as strong enough to hold back the new waves and fight the ones he was already in.
Adding an extra power from Rodney, Audrey, Angie, and the others boosted in strength and magic. When they felt Snow’s magic's warmth, they excitedly pushed harder and faster to quell the monsters in front of them.
Mike was dancing in between the fights with his large swords, sweeping them up with one large swing after another. His electricity was chaotic and dangerous, disappearing into the ground and shooting up at his suspected targets. He would often send a torrent of lightning that fell from the sky as dark clouds rolled in to assist him. Thunder boom clashed, but no rain was present.
Dairen was firing off his magical power like a madman as energy arrows were piercing through three to four monsters every time he let go while summoning up the monsters he killed to become his new legion of undead. His quick fingers were extraordinary, turning his bow behind, taking out another without looking.
He ran and ducked. Sliding under the belly of a raptor. With a quick aim, he let go, firing a deadly arrow in its chest. With an agonizing scream, the monster fell onto the floor dead. Dairen rolled out, getting up to shoot at another.
Rodney was quick, appearing and disappearing through the shadows. His assassination techniques were superb, slicing through the pressure points and vulnerabilities that he could only see. Sometimes, he would throw in a few fire magic that would burn the monsters on the spot before moving to another.
On the other hand, Audrey bulldozed through the monsters with his bear form. Swinging his arms back and forth, smacking them around as if they were playing things. But with Snow’s buff, the monsters were pushed away with a swing of his claws as wind magic spluttered outwards, taking down more with it.
Angie was busily directing her group of healers that were broken up to different teams. She personally had cast a shield around the group of Healers, trying to keep them safe without being overrun by the number of monsters that were running around.
Compared to Snow’s barrier, it was still weak, which a few other Healers helped keep it supplied with mana. Whenever Angie got a chance, she would throw in her own unique buff skills and spread out to the people. Her skills in healing, buffing, and debuffing monsters were becoming extraordinary because of her cast time. Not only that, her ability to watch the whole playing field work out was superb. She kept tabs of monsters and people alike, counting down to the exact seconds when each one was going out.
Snow was amazed at the skill that her group was becoming. The battlefield's push and pull was quickly wrapping around their thumbs, allowing them to take control of the swarms quicker and much more efficiently with the power-up. She was proud of everyone’s skill, allowing her to breathe without having to completely watch everyone’s back.
Magic swirled around her, a staggering amount of blades of light appeared. Each glistening with its own radiant galore. Closing her eyes, Snow used her magic to sense out the opponents on the battlefield.
Each one of the monsters was small flaming green lights that flickered in her mind space. There weren’t just one or two that she locked onto. Quickly, sweeping through the field, she grabbed ahold of everything that she could target. Some were difficult as they were a bit further away, and the control of her magic needed a bit more focused than the rest.
Opening her eyes, she waved down her hand.
A blast of dizzying light spread outwards in ripples of rain. Each of the swords went through her teammates, without harming them, and appeared in her enemy's body.
Slews of monsters fell over dead at the unexpected attack.
Some were too late to escape, while the stronger ones could only divert the magical swords away just in time.
Jack was one of them. His monstrous body barely missed the multiple swords that aimed for his life. Each one cutting lightly against his skin, making him furious even more.
“Snooooooowww!” Jack screeched in a fury with a thundering voice.

Dream Dungeon
Welcome to the dream dungeon. Ely suddenly finds himself in a mysterious dungeon accessed only through sleeping. Many people are drawn into this dream world, confused and mystified. Those in this dungeon must kill monsters to survive; maybe even each other. Join Ely as he struggles to survive a ruthless environment. What replaces his rest is untold trauma. What seems like an innocent game trope turns into a nightmare. This is a story of tragedy and the path to ultimate power. All in the hopes of an uncertain survival. _________ This fiction has NOT been abandoned. I made a haughty promise earlier to not worry because I'll continue this series, and with things lately, I've only proved myself a liar. Further promises dwindled, and I've lost trust. So many things have been going on recently that I've been booked. I will refrain from making any future guarantees or promises as my busy schedule will stay with me for a long long while. Time for me to actually spend on writing and revising won't appear until at the least November 19. I won't say expect that's when I'll restart, but you can expect expecting it to maybe happen. That's really shallow. But with everything going on, I've let my small reading base down. I apologize. I still stick by my statement though that I won't abandon this project. I plan to stick it to the end, no matter the delay. Most importantly, thank you everyone; readers who both like and dislike my work. I appreciate your time spent on my dumb imagination. Stay toasty my readers in this winter season. Cheers. UPDATE: We're back on track. Thank you for your patience. Any future readers, heyo! Glad you're here. UPDATE 2: So far it's been 21 days since I last uploaded a chapter. The best thing done for any fiction, no matter how good it is, is that it continues, and I have a bad history with that. 1 fiction on hiatus and already more delays with less than 20 chapters in this fiction. I've been very preoccupied with adding more things to do in my life rather than actually committing to any particular thing. That applies primarily to this. I cannot abandon this, as busy as my future looks and will look as I get busier and busier. Someday, I hope, I will be able to sit down and just write. just. write. But for now, I ask for patience. I suppose I'm glad this fiction hasn't picked up so that I don't disappoint too many people if any really. But I need to commit and it's going to happen sometime and sometime soon. No more flowery words. I'll see you later. UPDATE 3: It's very evident I won't be able to pick up this story for a while. With AP Testing, competitions, and other things I am busier than ever. But I must complete this fiction. I have too. Until next time. UPDATE 4: It is now the summer. I owe everyone an apology. Chances are, nobody's around to see this, and that is okay. I only blame myself for this sort of brokenness of a fiction, not that it is actually that bad but I am just exaggerating it for dramatic effect. But what's not exaggerated is the severity of my broken promise. I apologize for my naive claims about finishing a novel that I couldn't finish and that I didn't have the discipline to finish. Nor the skills, really, I was and am still an immature writer. What is to place now? I want to make it clear I understand this is my fault. I will man up to this. And I will accept any criticism. I understand I messed up. Reading Stephen King's On Writing made it clear to me that I need to do two things:Read lots. And write lots.I have done neither. If I don't have the time to read often, how do I expect to write? I need to become more experienced. I need to become a serious writer. So if I want to dream of continuing, I need to at least fulfill both requirements. I enjoy writing. I haven't written seriously outside of school in a while. I planned to write this summer and finish this. I made a lot of promises that I didn't keep.So there's that. I won't enact any self-pity, or be foolishly obsessed. What I did was wrong, and I must deal with it. I let down readers. And I apologize.I hope I can find forgiveness. This is a writer's sin.I won't promise I'll finish this. I intend to finish this, at some point, because writing is fun and I want to write. But how things are don't reflect that. Maybe I'll finish this at some point. Maybe I won't. I won't be naive to make that promise.I thank everyone who has read this if this is the end. If not, and hopefully not, I thank everyone who is to read future chapters. I thank everyone who allowed me to live in the miniscule little dream of mine as I passed my days. I thank everyone who cares enough to read this. Until next time, peace everyone. Thank you. You are all great readers and great people. I wish everyone the best in whatever reading/writing endeavors follow you henceforth.
