《Angel's Song: Requiem of the Dreams》66. Monster's Raid (II)

Snow got up groggily, wondering what time it was. She reached around out of habit to look for her alarm but realized that she was not in her bed. The soreness of her body yelled at her that she was still sleeping on the floor as it kept throbbing from the uncomfortable position she was in. Every now and then, her neck had a little pain where even stretching it didn't help.
This was one peculiarity on why she didn't like camping out in the wild: the aches and pains that came with it. It wasn't like she didn't bring the most comfortable sleeping bag; it was just that she needed more fluff to her bed compared to others.
She sat up to stretch, releasing the aches and muscle tension that screamed with protest. Finally, able to get a good movement, she stepped outside.
Looking up, she realized the sun was still high, telling her that she hadn't slept for a long time.
All the pent up stress was gone, leaving her more relaxed and clear thought. She was glad that Dairen didn't wake her up, allowing her to rest.
Just when she thought the day would go soundlessly, she heard the rush of footsteps of Players and Hunters running up towards the wall in a hurry. Their voice carried out with concern and curiosity.
"Did you see it?" A group of Players jogged past her loudly.
"No, but we should get up there."
"Why? It's that bad?"
"I don't know, but something is about to happen."
Snow curiously turned towards the wall, wondering what was going on. It wasn't until she heard a yell from outside the wall, followed by a thundering flash and a boom that shook the very ground.
Alarmed, Snow was unsure what had happened. Was there an attack?
She quickly summoned her battle gear, putting it on as she half hopped towards the destination. It took a bit of a struggle to get in her pants, but she was able to do it. The only thing that she didn't quite have on were her gloves.
Her feet picking up speed, she followed the crowd.
Dashing up the stairs, she tried to go through. The Players pushed back, blocking her way.
"Stop shoving!" One of the Players knocked her back without realizing who it was.
Snow lost her footing from the sudden shove. She stumbled backward into another group of Players behind her as they toppled backward together. A loud yelp could be heard as she squashed someone under her weight.
"Sorry." Snow got up with an annoyed expression. The people around her turned around, wondering what had happened. They were curious about why Snow had fallen on top of a Player.

"It's alright," Rodney spoke out from underneath her, a full-blown frown creased his pretty face.
Snow wondered how a guild leader unluckily found his way behind her and got squashed. She would have thought he would have flown through the crowd and somehow magically appeared on the walls, but that wasn't the case. Her imagination was a bit wild.
"Rodney?" She got up, dusting herself. Casting down her gaze, she stuck out her hand to help him up.
"Yea?" Rodney gladly took her hand. He grunted as he got up.
"What are you doing on the ground?" Snow stupidly said, regretting for asking such a dumb question when she was the one who squashed him.
"Unlucky circumstances," Rodney replied. He shook off the dirt and dust off his clothes. "I didn't expect to have such a wild crowd." His eyes darted around, glaring at the people who were rudely pushing and shoving.
They averted their eyes, turning around back to escape from his gaze as they felt a cold shiver.
"Yea, I didn't expect that as well." Snow replied. "Do you know what has happened?"
Both of them headed quickly to the edge of the wall to see what was going on.
"Not really, all I know is that there are Blue electric spheres out on the field."
"Blue electric spheres?" Snow tilted her head, not understanding what he was saying. To have spheres of electricity suddenly out here in the open sounded strange. Almost too fantastical, but then again, anything in the dungeon seems truly out of this world.
Just when she was going to ask for more, her expression turned from confusion to amazement.
Half the ground was littered exactly with what Audrey had said: Blue electric spheres rolling around the field like tumbleweeds.
She wasn't even sure where such strange energy balls came from, but what was more surprising was that half of it was wiped out. She could see some kind of burnt markings on the ground as if the blue balls were once there.
Wondering how such a thing was even possible, she tried to find a solution.
Suddenly, she felt a rise in magical light energy swirling not too far away from her to the right. She knew the taste and feel of the light, magical energy going off. It reminded her of honey and the scent of strawberry that tingle down her whole body.
A spear of light zapped across her vision, and her eyes followed the streak of light as it landed on the ground with a sizzling pop.

Her instinct took over, bringing up multiple shields around her to help lessen the shock and the blow of the light.
More and more of her shield popped up around everyone, trying to lessen the blow of the light magic from completely disabling the people around her. Her magic reached out to every single person present.
She knew how dangerous light magic could be. Even if people ranted loudly how it would heal the very soul, calm the heart, and also heal the wounded; the stark contrast that light brought was a searing pain that could shake one's magical core.
One could say that if one looks too deeply straight into the light, they would be blinded or worse obliterated. The so-called kindness of light magic didn't differentiate from the good or evil. It was magic, after all.
An after flash followed, blinding her for a split moment. But it wasn't as bad because of the shield in place. Eventually, the light died down, allowing Snow to see.
Anger flashed in her eyes. She searched for the fool who didn't realize how much harm it could have done. Instantly, she followed the trail of the light magic as she realized who it was: Mike.
Jumping up onto the ledge, she raced across the wall as people pulled back in surprise from her sudden appearance. They all thought a black demon rushed in front of them in a blur from the intensity that she was giving off. They didn't even dare to look at her straight in her eyes as it glowed gold.
Snow didn't stop. She had only one target. When Mike saw Snow rushing towards him in a blinding fury, he froze. With a mighty leap, Snow threw back her hand and did a flying superman punch to Mike's gut.
Mike toppled backward in such force that he knocked Dairen alongside with him a few others.
A black claw struck down towards Mike's face, alarmed he rolled over just in a nick of time that his ears slightly bleed.
"Woah. Woah. Woah!" Mike yelled, hoping that he could calm the furious Snow. "Not the face!"
"Fuck the face." Snow growled, her aim was true as it swung and slapped him across his cheek. "You idiot!" She yelled, huffing and puffing over him with a growl.
Mike looked up at her menacing glare that felt like it could stab him repeated, flay him alive, and hang him over the wall.
"How many times do I have to tell you before it gets through your thick skull! Light magic and electricity tend to amplify each other's attack! Mostly because it closely works well with one another!"
Mike looked at Snow dumbfounded at what she had said. "Were you trying to blind everyone along with you?!"
He tried to open his mouth to speak but was quickly cut off.
"You even forgot to put a simple light protective barrier." She hissed, "if I see you playing with light energy like that I again, I won't just end it with a punch. I'll make sure I break a few broken bones for you to remember what your childish action could have caused."
Snow stood in place, her dragon armor glimmering menacingly. Her wild gold glowing eyes sparkled like a predator looking down her prey. The others couldn't even speak, for they feared that if they angered Snow anymore, they too would get the magical lash from her.
"I'm sorry." Mike's voice was soft as he held his very cheek in a daze. He felt stupid for his arrogant thought and pride that the words slipped out of his mouth. He felt embarrassed.
It took a moment for Snow to calm down. Her gold eyes started to douse down, giving her a less evil look. She let out a huge sigh that told everyone that she was finally calm.
"Look, think before you act. Don't play with light magic like it's some cheap toy. Compared to the other elements, it plays well with other elements." The softness of her voice came back, which made many want to listen a little bit more.
Dairen was able to get back on his feet as he came over to help Mike up. He looked at his friend, shaking it slowly up and down, understanding what Snow had meant.
Snow turned her back as she could not continue to stare at him. She just didn't know what to do with Mike at times. Sometimes he was very helpful and good, but other times he was selfish and stupid. It was like watching over a mischievous brother.
Compared to Dairen, Mike was the idiot brother that needed a good scolding once or twice to knock some sense into him.
She wondered why her life was just an up and down of odd situations, but she was glad that he wasn't hurt.
Mike silently stood next to her, unable to say anything else.
