《Angel's Song: Requiem of the Dreams》28. Gate of Life and Death (I)

"Tommy?!" Tamaki yelled, running over.
Leo, Mr. Everrett, Dairen, and Rabbit came over to help. They lifted the boulder just enough for the others to come over to drag him out.
"Is he okay?" Leo asked, worriedly looking down. He turned a bit green when he saw how bad it was. Luckily for Tommy, his armor had protected his vital parts, allowing him to survive. If a boulder were thrown at an average person, they were bound to die. Tommy was injured: his arm bent backward, and both his legs snapped.
"Ms. Snow!" Tamaki desperately called out, snapping her out of stupor. "Please! Your healing ability!"
Snow rushed over, almost falling face forward for not paying attention. "How is he?"
"Broken legs and an arm, but he will survive." Tamaki gave off a relieved expression.
"Do you have any potions?" She checked Tommy's body for any other areas. Gently, she peeled back Tommy's arm. Her senses were telling her that there were a lot of small macro damages to his bones, muscles, and he had a concussion.
"None at this moment."
Snow bit her lower lips; she snapped her head towards Mr. Everrett. "Mr. Everrett, do you have any more potions left?"
Mr. Everrett shook his head. "That was the last one."
She silently cursed under her breath. She wasn't as skilled in healing but was still considered pretty decent.
Snow nodded, she began to pull out her magical power. White light glowed from her hand and wrapped itself around the damaged areas of Tommy's body. "I'm going to need some time." She told Tamaki in which he understood. The amount of power that needed to heal Tommy was pretty heavy, she knew that it would take at least three minutes to cleanly heal his body without a broken bone.
Plus, she could already tell that there were still some problems with his inside. There were a few ruptures in his intestines, which made her wonder what kind of being was able to cut through Tommy's pure strength. To see him lose like this made her realize that whatever was in the gate was powerful.
"Watch out!" Rabbit screamed.
Another boulder flew through the open gates straight towards Snow. Tamaki braced forward, he slashed with his sword, cutting the stone cleanly in half.
"Holy cow, did you see that?" Leo asked, his eyes sparkling at what he saw. "Was that magic?"
"Everyone get ready!" Tamaki shouted out. "It's coming!"
The ground and gate shook, telling them whatever it was coming through. The shadow on the ground became larger.

"Oh. My. God." Snow gasped as she saw the monster thundering forward. Her magic faltered momentarily from healing Tommy.
What came out proudly in place was a man like creature without a head, running around barefoot. Towering over them by ten feet, it let out a low rumbling laugh as it looked down upon its prey. Its whole body was covered with thick brown hair, bulging muscles, and red claws that could sever a head. A large singular eye was smacked in the middle of the chest. A long beard covered half of its lower body, almost dragging it to the floor. A line split open underneath the eye, becoming a devilish grin.
His hand grabbed the side of the door, tearing apart a chunk of the rock. It crushed the stones in hand and threw it at the group.
"What the hell is that?" Dairen spoke, he jumped to the side from the pelt of rock that fell like rain. The others ducked and dodge, trying not to get hit and become the second victim.
Snow raised up her hand, creating a light shield in front of her. " A Blemmyae: so-called wild men."
"Blimey?"
"No, Blemmyae. Found in the lakes of the African desert, but they should have gone extinct. How are they alive?"
"Who cares what they are." Mike drew out his sword, excited to go into combat. "This is a boss fight. Let's treat it as such."
"What you mean boss fight, are you an idiot?" Dairen shouted. He knocked an arrow, firing it in rapid succession. "This isn't a game!"
The first arrow hit its target but was bounced off as if its skin was made out of metal.
Mike didn't listen; he rushed in first. Swinging wildly, his sword touched skin. Biting through, a small knick of red line appeared, showing that he barely cut through. The muscle tense and ate the metal as if it was breakfast. It snapped in half, leaving behind a broken sword.
"What the f*ck!" Mike cursed, "I barely started to fight, and this crap happens?" He kicked the Blemmyae on the chest, knocking it back a few steps.
Dairen fired his magical arrow right behind him to keep the Blemmyae away from snatching Mike's leg out from underneath him. The arrow crackled with dark magic, devouring the outstretched hands before grabbing Mike.
"Thanks."
"I get that you are trying to aggro it to yourself, think before you do that." Dairen hissed. "We don't even know what everyone's skill is like."

"Calm down, not everything is going to go by a scripted book." Mike rolled his eyes. He threw the broken blade over his shoulder and summoned out another hammer-like sword. "We are going to need to play this by ear."
"I know." Dairen shot another, this time it whizzed past the Blemmyae's shoulder because it stumbled to get back its footing.
"You guys! More incoming!" Cleo yelled.
Eight more walked out from the gate, followed by a large silver Blemmyae that were a bit bigger than the others. One of the Blemmyae came over to help its fallen brethren up. It looked towards Mike with an angry glare.
"You pissed it off, genius."
"No shit, sherlock," Mike growled, he warily watched the injured Blemmyae.
The other Blemmyae surrounded the injured, all stomping their feet in a rhythmic beat. The silver Blemmyae snorted and growled. With a grunt, telling them to attack.
"Partner up!" Mike yelled. Dairen covered for Mike, who was bent on being the lure.
Snow knew she couldn't help. She started sweating; she could feel the bones all coming together through her magic, healing Tommy.
"Ms. Snow, how soon?" Tamaki was watching the surroundings knowing full well that he couldn't leave them to fight ahead.
"One minute." She closed her eyes, focusing her power to heal. Already, she could feel her magic speeding up a bit more to finish on Tommy's leg before she moved towards his other arm. She could feel that it wasn't fully broken but fractured.
Eventually, freeing her up, she was able to check his pulse.
"Will he wake up?" Tamaki asked in a hurry.
"I don't know. We can only protect Tommy until he does."
The Blemmyaes broke apart, picking their targets as if they were playing with a new toy. Two prowled towards Cleo and Leo, another three surrounded Mr. Everrett, who stood in place without panicking. Rabbit was running around with one Blemmyae chasing her. While Mike and Darien faced the one injured Blemmyae and one more by themselves. Another stood behind, standing by the Silver's Blemmyae's side.
The Silver Blemmyae watched from behind, crossing its arm as it back faced the gate.
Snow got up, she knew that she couldn't stay on the ground. She took a quick look one more time to make sure her handiwork was perfect.
A tingling feeling ran up and down her spine, she snapped her head towards the gaze that stared back. It was the Silver Blemmyae, who seemed content. It smirked, eyes glistening at her as if he found her as some kind of bug not worth bringing his attention too.
"Ms. Snow, I suggest you stay behind me at all times," Tamaki spoke, his hand rested on the hilt. He lowered himself, watching the silver Blemmyae, ready to strike.
Snow tattoo glistened, changing it into a dragon helmet and tail. Her armor glistened, giving her an intimidating feel.
"Don't worry, Tamaki. I'll watch your back." She nodded.
Tamaki blushed for a moment when she called out his name. He became diligent, this time staring down intently at the Silver Blemmyae.
The others were in a deadlock, trying to get the upper hand. Snow could tell that they were in trouble.
Rabbit squealed, as she climbed up a tree to get out of its grasp. The Blemmyae stopped at the foot of the tree. It briskly walked over with a huff, strutting its chest out as if it was nothing. Bending over, it grabbed the base of the trunk. A grunt followed after, pulling the tree out from the ground with Rabbit screaming.
"Help!" Rabbit hangs on her for life. She was swung back and forth, even shaken to the point where she felt dizzy. Even still, she didn't let go.
Mike and Dairen were in a heated battle. The wounded Blemmyae and the other one wouldn't let them rest. They goaded and ran around Mike and Dairen as if they were toying within a game of tag. One would attack and retreat back, making both of them run around in circles.
Leo and Cleo weren't having an easy time, they were suppressed and even possibly slightly injured. Mr. Everrett was continually dodging the monsters in rapid sessions, barely missing by a hair's breadth.
"Tamaki, go help them." Snow motioned with her head. "I'll be fine."
"But Ms. Snow-"
"Go!" She growled, getting annoyed that he was dallying.
Tamaki nodded. He ran in to save Rabbit. With one fluid motion, his sword flashed through the air, lopping off the Blemmyae in one go. The tree fell with a thud, throwing Rabbit around. She slipped down on the side dizzily.
The other Blemmyae who were jabbering and laughing at their prey went silent.
With a thunderous roar, the Silver Blemmyae stomped on the ground once and pointed at Tamaki.
Tamaki frowned, but he didn't stop and rushed headfirst into the other battles that were taking place.

Some time ago, a planes-traveling archmage made up a video game to train some people on the planet Earth for the catastrophe he knew was coming. That game was the Power of Ten. The gods seized this opportunity to take the templates of some of those characters, and even their souls, for use in other worlds, and other realms. Sama Rantha is one of those characters, and is going to find out that being a Hagchild and having to survive after your Hag Curse fails to murder you at birth is much, much less fun than setting it as your Race at level One on a gamescreen. Join Sama Rantha on her Road to Ten, and letting her Hagmother know exactly what she thinks of her... ------ Warning: This book starts with a HARD OPEN! It was written as an extension of other stories that have not made it onto the Internet yet for National Novel Writing Month in Nov/2018. Sci-fi/Fantasy/psionics mashup, grimbright clashing with grimdark! Clement
A man finds himself lost and far away from his home and this is his story. I know the description isn't much to go on but I'm going to leave it like that in hopes that people end up curious enough to give the story a read. Fair warning, this is my first time writing a novel and honestly would love some constructive criticism. leave a comment below the chapters if you find anything that should be corrected or if you have any questions. PS: I'm really into RPGs and the story is going to reflect that obsession.
