Chapter 75. History(1)

It is a mystery how the 'Realm' formed, or who created it. It has always been there but many theories have been proposed throughout the eons that have come.

'Someone created this realm and is now observing us in order to increase his cultivation.'

'It is part of a greater realm and we have been banished due to the sins our ancestors have committed.'

'It was created naturally, and it shall destruct naturally.'

The oldest records have been traced back to war, a war that was as old as the 'Realm'. Humans were born amidst that war when it had entered an era of peace, the first pause after it began.

But that peace didn't go on for long.

The war once again began and the humans found themselves being dragged in, even though they wished to stay neutral, which they did. But this caused them to become enemies with factions on either side of the war.

But something happened and the humans were left alone, what exactly is still unknown but they were left undisturbed.

And a few weeks later the war ended, both sides were annihilated, and not a single survivor left.

But the war had still caused damage, the population was low and the humans too were facing the threat of extinction.

They had to survive against the wild monsters, beasts, and sometimes nature itself.

But the humans are known for their adaptability, and they found a way to use this situation to their advantage.

They found ways to use mana, control it, and strengthen their bodies, unlocking a whole new world for them. Not every method was equal and each had its benefits and weaknesses.

This process of strengthening oneself was called cultivation.

Using this power they were able to fight back and build a stable foundation for their species. The humans were no longer at the gates of extinction and were now considered a stable power in the realm.

They founded sects, academies, organizations, and many other such things that allowed people to grow stronger in a safe environment. Some families kept to themselves, using their personal methods to raise their offspring.

Ultimately they grew to be the strongest power in the 'Realm', but the other species didn't just stay back and watch. They too struggled to increase their strength and reached a level where they were able to stand on equal grounds against humans

The 'Realm' saw a rare period of silence and the humans were able to live their lives peacefully but, no peace is eternal.

People get greedy, they try to gain what they desire through fair means at first but when they fail they get angry and more obsessive. Most people would bury that feeling and move on but those that have power fight.

Wars were once again waged, but this time the enemies were their own.

Some fought for land, some fought for treasure. Some clashed to find new inspirations to increase their strength, while some fought just for the fun of it. Some sought to protect, some sought justice or revenge.

No matter the goals, the Humans were once again at the center of something. The other species watched and patiently waited for an opportunity, a chance to bring down this behemoth once and for all.

They couldn't act recklessly, there were a lot of things happening behind the scenes, and a lot of factors had to be considered before a move could be made.

During these times, the humans found a star. A star that contained untapped resources with a lot of potential, but they also inhabited other humans, humans that had made very little use of mana, sometimes none at all.

Similar cases occurred throughout the Realm and every species was thinking of ways to use this to their benefit and a suggestion that could make this possible was made.

The creation of an artificial being that would guide and help these people to get used to mana, would provide them with basic skills and help them cultivate to a certain level.

Until this time the stars would remain uninfluenced, none of the species would be able to interfere with anything that happens on these stars, and after they reach a certain level the representative of the star would be able to choose which group they would like to affiliate with.

Generally, those that found the star own it but, if the star lies in an area that did not have clear ownership the star would be given a choice to select.

Having liked this proposal and knowing that as creators, they would be able to bring down this artificial being anytime they started to work on it.

But they underestimated the wonders of mana.

The being was near its completion but something unexpected happened. The being started to have its own thoughts, it absorbed its own creators and became an independent being.

The plus side was that it remembered why it was created, and till this date, it has been training beings on its own and assigning different stars to different organizations

But this artificial Being could only observe until a certain strength was reached, be it for people or objects. It wasn't all-knowing or omnipotent, just indestructible.

It allowed everyone to see or present information in short panels, like their cultivation level, name, affiliation, and many such things. What would be shown was decided by the respective individual, the Records just provided a way.

Getting to know that the being was truly impartial and would not interfere with the residents after they reached a certain cultivation level, everyone realized that it was better to leave the being on its own.

It was making their work easy, and it always gave equal chances to every faction.

This was how the 'Records' was created.
