《Ascend》Chapter 44. Move

Chapter 44. Move "Everybody pack up! We're moving!" Garry announced loud enough so that everybody could hear. People slowly came out, but not everybody agreed with our decision. "Do we have to go and live in a forest? Isn't the city a better choice?" "Yea, should we go there, deep into the forest? I don't want to." "Me neither, I prefer to live here instead of living in forests." Slowly a lot of people were starting to raise their voices and starting to show dissatisfaction. Still, the majority were listening and only the minority kept on shouting, but everybody shut up the next moment. Arthur, Lucy, and Luke came out of the building and they all carried the little luggage they had. Weapons and some extra clothes that we distributed after scavenging the area. "Lucy, Luke, and Arthur! You too?! Do you also agree that we should move? Or are you just being forced by that..." The man didn't finish his sentence but everybody knew who he was talking about. Me. My three students were the only ones that could defeat the monsters alone and together if there was a big one. I was not there to clear out the monsters for the last few days. I knew that the monsters were slowly increasing in the city. And like I had expected, these three were the ones people most relied on when no one was there to protect them. They now had a voice in making decisions. "Look around," Arthur spoke up. "See how many people live in that one building. And we still have people seeking shelter and coming to us. Everyday. We are already running out of space to house everyone. We have food and water but what about shelter? The more people roam freely, the more chances of a monster finding us. Do you want to live being surrounded by them?" "But we could wait until someone comes to help us. Someone more 'Humane'." The man who said the said previous statement about being forced spoke up again. "Two weeks have passed, and we only have more people coming to seek help. None of them was here to help. And there is a chance that someone like Henry might appear again. Someone so strong that even this 'Inhumane' person will not be able to save you, are we fine with that?" At first, Arthur was replying just to that man, but now his last sentence was directed at everyone. "In this situation, we are the beggars, and beggars can't be choosers." No one spoke after Arthur laid out his thoughts, even the ones who were protesting went back in and brought out their stuff. But people still didn't understand that democracy or public opinion wasn't going to be the rule now, not unless there were millions of them standing on the same side. "Those who want to stay can stay, no one will stop you," I said with a loud voice. "But you would be on your own after that, banished from this city forever. Because I won't help you nor will anyone else to the person who left when 'unity' was one of the most crucial things required for survival." My image as a cruel tyrant was being established more and more, but it was fine. It would all work out in the future. The journey back to the hill was, tough. We had to stop every few miles because the people were not used to walking such large distances. It was a long way to the hill if it was before the Merge, but now everybody was more 'fit' in a way. You had stats to distribute and only needed endurance and vitality to be more durable. Still, I didn't know their thinking of adding more to Int, Wis, Str, Agi when you don't even know what did what. Everyone capable of fighting also had to stay alert of possible monster attacks, and that too slowed our speed. It almost ate up our entire day escorting everyone and we couldn't progress much in the city. We did bring everyone out of the city, now we needed to tell the 'leader' that he was the leader. And build an army. I couldn't do much on the construction part, that had to be left to the crafters. A few days passed and we were slowly the city was slowly but surely taking its form. The base for all five buildings was done and from tomorrow they would focus on one building at a time. Tomorrow was also the day when the classes resumed. I wasn't going to lie but I was nervous thinking about whether they would come or not. But it was fine if they did not, I did make them go through all that. *Cruel.* ^Coward.^ Looks like we find that out tomorrow. I was giving instructions to the 'cleaners', the people who were going to clear out the surroundings daily. There were now fifteen people who wanted to kill the monsters, including the previous six. These were the people who were going to lead the army, they had the courage for it. I just didn't know if they had the brain for it. I finished giving them their jobs and areas to work, and rested in the tent. That was when I remembered that the kids had no place to gather. I didn't give them a specific location. But it wasn't needed. "Teacher?" It was Lucy that I heard from outside. "Can we?" "Come in." "We didn't know where to find you and the people outside said that were here." It was Luke who said that now. "We finished maxing out our skills the day before yesterday, but wanted to ask you before doing anything." Arthur was also present. "Good that you asked me, or you would lose out on a free benefit." I was happy that they came.

Echelon of The Owls
Parallel worlds or other worlds. The existence of infinite existence where it only exists in science fiction like in comics, books, or cartoons. We, humans, are so fond of that fiction idea, imagining a thousand worlds where we can have different appearances, lives, and selves. For example, a murderer who's been living in the underbelly of society in the dark might be the most successful businessman in an alternate timeline or reality. The infinite possibilities we could have, that's why the idea of parallel worlds revolves around "what if", " I should've...", etc. The wishful thinking that how we could have done it better or in a word, "regret". Other than that, it's still from fiction. The concept of it only exists in our imaginary minds. But, it all changed when 20 students from an ordinary high school were caught in a mysterious phenomenon. A surge of blue light crawled across the whole room, symbols, lines, and geometric patterns emerged slowly. The light slowly grew brighter and brighter, in a blink of an eye, all of them vanished. Till to this day, the mysterious phenomenon was left to be unknown, with the existence of those 20 students. Join the journey of Sirius Steorra and Alice Schwartz as they transverse to the other world and uncover the mysteries of its world. A world that’s shrouded by mysteries and history. This is their story... ----------------------------------------------------- This is also available in Webnovel and Scribblehub. The Tears of Kas̆dael
It was just supposed to be a game. A really, really great game, yes - but a game. Instead, Jasper got his heart ripped out by a brooding goddess and awoke to find himself in another world. No weapons, no skills. Naked. Trapped in a world full of ancient horrors, where gods and monsters still roam the earth, Jasper is forced to adapt quickly or die - and he's not ready to die. Good thing he's a mage. This is a high-fantasy novel with light LitRPG elements. It's not super-crunchy, but the system is an important part of the story. There is some light cursing and gore, but this is not a Grimdark novel. There will also be no harem. The current schedule is chapters on M-W-F of around 2000-2500 words, as well as occasional bonus chapters that provide background or insights into side characters. This is my first real attempt at writing a full novel, but the story is based on a world that I've been creating and re-creating since I was a child. I have an extensive "history" and religion, and even a semi-cohesive language system worked out, which will hopefully slowly shine through as the story progresses. I want to avoid having too many info-dumps, so I may from time to time post a bonus lore chapter that will explain some of the background for any who are interested.
