《Phoenix Rising》ARC 18: Chapter 566 - Vacation Trip – Part 2

The once prosperous Rodfox Kingdom with many buildings and towns nearby, was completely erased from the face of the world. All that was left of its existence was a vast wasteland that stretched for many kilometers in all directions. This was caused by the ruthless and cold-blooded decision taken by the Calamity Titan to destroy the kingdom as a demonstration to force the rest of the world into obedience.
“Rodfox Kingdom…” muttered Priya sadly while Indira covered her eyes with a shocked look on her face. “It’s completely gone.”
Valerian leaned over the edge of Draga’s body to look at the destruction before asking, “So, this was where the Rodfox Kingdom used to exist?”
Lakshman did not say anything as he stared down at the wasteland from behind his siblings before ordering his familiars telepathically, “Draga and Phylex also, don’t descend just yet. Our destination is still a little further ahead.”
“Understood, master,” said Phylex in return.
“Got it,” said Draga in affirmation.
The two familiars soared above the vast land and continued flying towards the south of the Human Continent. Both groups remained silent while travelling for a few minutes when Lakshman suddenly issued his instructions for them to descend. As such, the two began descending down until they gently landed, causing dust and pebbles to scatter everywhere.
Everyone got down from the familiars and began looking around at the surroundings with a strange air about them. The location was a strange choice for Lakshman to pick, which was exactly what Sonia and Silvera were thinking. Even Valerian had no idea why the Phoenix Titan would pick this spot to land on. However, the rest of the Chand family looked as if they knew where they were and turned to their husband with concern on their faces.
“Lucky?” Ondine asked curiously.
“Is this…?” Asked Emilia worriedly.
“Could this place be…?” Sumara asked cautiously.
To their questions, Lakshman merely nodded his head with a sorrowful look on his face. Beside him, Indira still had her hands over her mouth and this time, tears began spilling down her face as she fell to her knees and wept silently. Priya knelt down beside her sister and did her best to gently pat her on the back while tears of sorrow flowed down her face as well.
“What? What’s wrong?” Sonia asked, oblivious to the significance of their location.
“Sonia,” began Tetra with a sad look on her face, “this is where Lucky’s home used to be.”
Upon hearing that, Sonia’s and Silvera’s eyes shot wide open in alarm. The impact of their words was strong, and they turned to him with shocked looks on their faces.
“Are… Are you sure this is the place, Lucky?” Sonia asked hesitantly, worried for how her husband was feeling.
Lakshman nodded and extended his hand out with his palm open wide before activating his magic. In an instant, an incredible wave of energy seeped out of him and began to visualize things that were not there a moment ago. Trees, grass, wildlife, and most of all, a large sturdy looking house with a barn and a shed.

“It’s simply impossible to forget my birthplace,” he told them and turned to smile sadly at them with tears in his eyes.
There was a moment of pause as all of his wives look at him and then all rushed to him before giving him a warm hug.
“Oh… Lucky…!”
“It’s okay…! It’s okay…!”
“We’re here for you…!”
“You’re not alone…!”
“Don’t be so sad…!”
“Please cheer up…!”
His wives were consoling him and giving him encouragement while embracing him from all sides. Lakshman did not say anything and just stood there as he was wrapped by their arms. Their warmth made him feel happy and finally smile for the first time since getting there. Meanwhile, the memory of the surroundings slowly faded until the view was back to show them the devastation like before.
“Better repair the land first if you’re going to spend a vacation here,” suggested Asura, and Lakshman agreed with, “My thoughts exactly.”
After freeing himself from their embrace and reassuring them that he was perfectly fine, Lakshman clapped his hands together and placed them down on the ground. In an instant, immense energy began radiating out of his hands before it seemed to dive into the ground.
For a moment, nothing seemed to happen but a moment later, the area began to glow. Not just the land they stood on, but the entire destroyed land began emit a golden ray of light that seemed to shine out of the ground itself.
“What are you doing, Lucky?” Sumara asked curiously.
“Restoring the land,” he replied with a smile.
Everyone tried to keep their eyes open to see what was happening but the glow gradually grew so bright that they could no longer see clearly. The glow grew very brilliant to the point that everyone closed their eyes and covered them with their hands.
The dazzling light lasted for several seconds before it slowly dimmed and vanished, leaving no trace of it behind. Noticing that the light was gone, everyone slowly opened their eyes and adjusting to the normal light that shone from the sky. Upon seeing what had happened, everyone reacted in shock because it was just that unbelievable.
The vast wasteland of the destroyed Rodfox Kingdom no longer looked like a wasteland. Grass had appeared everywhere, including beneath their feet as they also saw trees slowly growing out of the ground to establish themselves around the area. Then they thought they heard the sound of water being splashed from somewhere nearby.
“W-Wow…!” Exclaimed Cantia and Silvera in amazement.
“This is… incredible…!” Venezuela and Erza said in awe.
“The entire land is… restored…!” Emilia remarked with a bright voice.
“This is simply… amazing!” Sumara commented, looking stunned before turning to her husband. “This couldn’t be due to Restoration, right? I know its restrictions about an year and this certainly isn’t Real Fiction! Just how did you manage to do this, Lucky?”

He turned to his wife, who was once his magic teacher and smiled as he said, “Earth Power.”
“Huh?” She reacted in puzzlement. “Earth Power? What? You did all of this with that Sage Ranked Healing Spell?”
Earth Power was a Sage Ranked Healing Spell that was supposed to heal the land of whatever damage that had been done to it so long as it was in a recoverable state. This included minor destruction like explosions, craters, and so on that occurred recently. As such, there was no way this spell was capable of restoring a destroyed and dead land back to full health.
“Sumara,” began Lakshman with a smile as he asked, “who am I?”
At this sudden question, his wife looked perplexed and responded with, “You’re the Phoenix Titan, of course. Who else would you…? Huh?”
It was at that moment that realization dawned on her when she proclaimed his title. She was only aware of the effects of what the Earth Power was capable of if it was used in a regular manner. But, if the spell was cast by someone with an incredibly high level of power, then the results may not remain the same.
Following such a thought process, Sumara looked at her husband and spoke in an impressed voice.
“This is incredible! I never expected that Earth Power could possess the ability to do this much if used by someone of a greater level. Did you know this would happen?”
At her eager question, Lakshman smiled wryly as he admitted, “Honestly, no.”
“What?!” She exclaimed, looking shocked. “You didn’t know? Don’t tell me that you… experimented?!”
At that, he let out a light chuckle and said, “Truth be told, I had been wondering about what many of the spells I knew would do if I were to cast them now that I’m this overpowered. I already saw what had happened with Elemental Sense, so I suspected that maybe Earth Power will have the power to heal the land and help repopulate this destroyed land back to the way it used to be.
His words made Sumara become thoughtful for a moment before she said, “Yes. Even I must admit that such a thought never crossed my mind and magic is my forte.” Then she looked at him and said, “I’m very pleased, Lucky.”
This made him smile and rub the back of his head embarrassedly as he replied, “Thanks, Sumara.”
As their exchange came to a seeming end, he was suddenly grabbed by an arm by Sonia as she asked, “It’s well and good that the land is restored, but what about our stay? Where will we be staying?”
“Ah. Just give me a minute,” he told her with a smile. “I’ve got something to do.”
“Mmm?” She asked, looking curious.
Lakshman walked forward and helped his twin sisters to their feed before he moved forward to where he knew the entrance to his old house used to be at. Then he began activating magic that caused a stone wall to rise out of the ground and he began walking around as he traced the walls of his destroyed home.
“The wall’s done. Now for the graves,” he said when he came back to the front.
Indira and Priya slowly rose to their feet and watched as their brother stepped into the vacant space surrounded by the stone wall. After walking a few paces in, he came to a stop and clapped his hands before placing them down on the ground. A moment later, two large stone walls began rising out of the ground and soon they transformed into that of graves. Then he took a step back and did the same, this time causing two smaller stone walls that rose out of the ground but stopped at short height.
“Done,” he said as he finished his work and rose to his feet.
He placed a hand on each of the stone heads and activated his magic. A moment later, he removed his hand away from it and revealed letters inscribed into the stone wall heads with the names of his deceased father and mother.
“Alright. You can come over,” he called to them cheerfully.
Reacting in surprise, his family gradually shuffled through the entrance into the spacious compound and looked at the graves. Then they put their hands together in prayer and closed their eyes as they prayed for the wellbeing of their parents-in-law wherever they may be.
“Dad, mum,” began Lakshman as he did not pray and instead spoke directly to the graves. “I know I’m making excuses by saying I was busy saving the world and everything, but please accept my sincerest apology for coming here so late. Please… I’m really sorry for the lateness and hope that you’ll be happy wherever you may be right now.”
They were looking
“Lucky…” said Emilia soothingly, walking up to stand by his side and placing a gentle hand on his shoulder. “They’re good parents. They won’t be so critical of you. They’ll understand since you had to save the world since you were the only one capable of it.”
Lakshman smiled when a voice suddenly said from behind them said, “She’s right.”
For a moment, Lakshman felt as if something powerful had hit him across the back of his head when he heard that voice. It was the first time in a very long time since he heard that voice, and he whirled around to see who the owner of it was.
There, standing outside the compound wall was the ghostly figure of his late childhood friend, Stuart Mardak.

Our Shattered Realms
*This is a learning experience for me so please keep in mind that I am attempting to work on some of the issues brought to my attention early on. However I haven't yet gone back to redo the early chapters.* Less than two days ago every piece of electronics in the world stopped working for more than two hours. The death toll was immense. Hospital equipment failed, cars stopped in the middle of the street, planes fell from the sky, and homework was lost at the worst possible moment. We found out that it was just the flicker and hum of The System warming up. Now we see the true cost of our new world. A Dark comedy that focuses on a few of the many people who aren't stuck in a high level dungeon when our world is translated and joined to Our Shattered Realms. This is my first story that I have published. I welcome any criticism that you have for me. Thank you for reading and I hope you enjoy!
