《Phoenix Rising》ARC 17: Chapter 531 - Belief in Family

The fairy opened her eyes and found that she was standing on a plain grassy field near an ocean. She marvelled by the amazing sight of the seas and the grass when she had been used to the Alzard World, which lacked all of this beauty. It made her feel a strange pleasantness that she somehow seemed to miss despite not being aware of it until now.
“Now, where is he?” She muttered to herself.
She glanced around side-to-side and immediately saw Lakshman being bombarded by nine women that had him surrounded by forming a circle around him. For his part, he was not defending himself and seemed to accept their attacks despite it appearing as though it was causing him a lot of pain.
“Lucky!” She cried out in shock and rushed over to help him.
As she moved forward, the attacking girls, mainly Emilia, Venezuela, and Sumara noticed her. They reacted by turning to face her and fire off their individual attacks in her direction. Seeing the attacks flying towards her, the fairy activated her powers and caused wings of light to protrude out of her back as she prepared to fight the women.
She brought both of her hands forward and held the palms out, causing the soaring attacks to come to a halt a few meters from her. Then, she extended both of her forefinger and middle finger outward, and she spun her hand around before aiming the two fingers in the forward direction.
In an instant, the attacks soared backwards and smashed into their attackers. At the same time, using the same two fingers, the fairy gathered power at the tips and swung them, causing a strong wind to blow in their direction. This effectively blasted them off their feet and away from Lakshman.
As the other women reacted and flew towards her in order to attack, the fairy stomped her foot down on the ground while activating her powers. A moment later, pillars of rock shot out of the ground and smashed into each of them, sending them flying away as well. In the midst of this, the fairy soared forward and landed before gently supporting Lakshman up.
“Please… Don’t attack them…” he pleaded to her with a depressed expression on his face.
“So, these are your wives, huh?” She asked, glancing around at the women lying down after being blown away from her attacks. “What kind of illusion were you having to have them attack you?”
“Illusion?” Lakshman asked, blinking at her in surprise. “In fact, why are you here? I thought I came back from the Alzard World. Did something happen for you to be here?”
“Yes!” She thundered, and startled him. “Don’t you remember? That alien attacked you, and put you into some kind of powerful illusion spell or something. Rather, he trapped you in your own soul!”
“What? The alien did?” He asked, looking blankly at her. “B-But… I thought I had come home…”
She shook her head and looked sadly at him as she said, “No, Lucky. You’re still at Alzard World, and Asura is doing his best to fight off the enemy, but he needs you as you are the original owner, and he cannot draw his full power when you’re trapped in this fake world.”
“But… my wives… everything is so real…” said Lakshman vaguely, glancing around at his surroundings.
The fairy looked at him for a moment, noticing him wavering but struggling to accept reality. This was the effect of the enemy’s magic having strong hold over him and causing him to not fully take in her words. So, she decided to change her method of attack and asked him about this fake world.

“So, mind telling me why your wives are attacking you?”
“W-Well…” he began and hesitated momentarily before saying, “I left them for a while, and during the attack from some random people, four of my wives were gravely injured. Because I couldn’t do much to help them because I was in my Astral Form, they became angry at me and began attacking me as a way of venting their frustration on me. Besides, I wasn’t being a good husband anyway,” he finished in a disheartened voice.
She blinked at him in surprise and asked, “Huh? A bad husband? What do you mean?”
“I didn’t know about Erza’s suffering that she endured in that world, as well as how my other wives were feeling. Instead of helping them when they were in a dire situation, I vented my anger out on the idiots by summoning my familiars. If had I controlled my emotions and focused that energy in healing my wives, then they wouldn’t have been this angry with me.”
“Really? Is that truly what your ‘real’ wives would’ve felt and done to you?” She asked, and he looked at her in surprise. “Did you forget that when you acquired me, we shared each other’s knowledge, including some of our memories. Although, I limited how much of my memory I wanted to share with you, I received the entirety of your memories, and I was amazed. You have such lovely wives, so how come you can think they’d do anything this vile?”
“Huh?” He asked, blinking in confusion.
She chuckled and said, “Remember back to your childhood when your companions, Ondine, and Tetra fought over each other for your attention and affection. Then it became a fearsome rivalry when Emilia joined, and from there Silvera, Venezuela, Erza, Sumara and finally Sonia to be the last to join your harem.
Normally, most wives would not prefer to be in each other’s company as they want to be the only one that monopolises their husband, but in your case, you were lucky because they didn’t want to upset you and worked out ways to get along with each other. Their love for you even let them set their rivalry aside and work together to be the best wives for you.”
“Yes. I am very grateful for them, but I… I wasn’t there for them when they needed me the most,” he said sadly.
“Even though they showed signs of wanting to help you, you kept them from harms away all the time,” she said and sighed in lament.
“I didn’t want to see them engaging in battles or getting hurt,” he responded in a reasonable voice.
“But!” The fairy said, suddenly raising her voice and then pointed her finger at him in an accusing manner. “You’re the one at fault for pampering his wives!”
“What?!” Lakshman exclaimed, looking bewildered. “It’s my fault to pamper my wives? Why?”
“Yes! You didn’t let them train, you didn’t let them get near battles, and in the end, you made them become housewives! Instead of being able to protect themselves and stand on their own two feet, you made them depend solely on you. What’s more, they never complained about it and happily accepted it because they cherished you!”
“And I also cherish them, and I always will!” He replied immediately, looking at her with great seriousness.
“So, how come you think these fakes are your real wives?!” She demanded, moving in closer and peering into his eyes with extreme seriousness.

“Huh? What? Fakes?” He blinked at her in surprise.
“You really think these are your real wives?” She asked, leaning back and spread her arm out towards the nine women, who had gradually gotten back to their feet. “Get lost!”
With the shout, she waved her forefinger in an arc in their direction, causing a powerful gust of wind to blow in their direction and blast them off their feet.
“Ah!” Lakshman exclaimed in horror, watching his wives flying away and turned to face her angrily. “Hey! I told you not to attack them, dammit!”
Normally, Lakshman would have beat down anyone that had so much as brought harm to his wives. However, since the other person was the fairy whom he treated as a friend that was much different from Lagron, he could not bring himself to fully attack her. As such, all he did was yell at her and complain at this unreasonable treatment, even if those wives of his were fake.
“These are not your ‘real’ wives!” She thundered as she rounded on him. “Remember the wives that always greeted you home with a smile on their faces, remember the wives that didn’t ask anything unreasonable from you, like shopping, buying accessories, and anything like any normal wife might do! Remember them already! Such wives would never, and I mean it, would never ever attack their beloved husband!”
She had actually placed both of her hands on either side of his face and looked at him with a determined look on her face. The conviction in her voice and the expression on her face made Lakshman blink in surprise. Then, as if something was flowing into him, he started seeing images of his wives, smiling, laughing, caring, and loving him very much. That was when it hit him that his wives would never turn their backs on him.
This made him realise something, and he muttered, “Right…! Even my wives in the ancient time never turned against me even though they knew I was a cold ruthless person.”
“They didn’t because they saw that you were trying to create a peaceful world, and accepted you for what you are. They saw the good in you when everyone treated you like a demon, and even after reincarnating from then to now, they never changed their attitude. So, please Lucky, snap out of this illusion already. The Alzard World is waiting for you.”
Lakshman looked at her with amazement, the illusion magic lost its hold over him and finally set him free. As such, everything turned white around them before the surroundings reformed themselves, and they stood in his Unconscious World once again.
Realisation dawned on him of what had happened, and he placed a hand over his forehead from the shock of what had happened. He felt a great sense of guilt stir inside of him, but suddenly, the fairy spoke soothingly to him with a smile on her face.
“It wasn’t your fault; it was the enemy that made you doubt yourself. So, don’t lose your belief in your family, alright? You have loving wives, and a wonderful family to return to, so don’t ever think they’d turn their backs on you.”
He smiled at her in happiness and simply said, “Yes.”
Just then, they heard Asura ask, “Seriously?! You freed him?! How?!”
To his demand, the fairy simply stuck her tongue out and remarked, “Find out for yourself!”
“Why you?!” Asura exclaimed in an irritated voice.
Moments later, he materialised in front of them and quickly kneeled down while breathing heavily. This goes to show how tired he was from battling against their enemy and the numerous injuries he sustained while in control of Lakshman’s body.
“Sorry for leaving things to you,” said Lakshman apologetically.
“It’s fine. I managed to enjoy a portion of it anyway,” replied Asura, and he smirked as he remembered the state that the Demigod Amit, who was the son of the God of Calamity, when they ended up in at the Spirit Plane, “but we’re in trouble now.”
Lakshman’s eyes shot up at his words as Asura was not one to easily say something like that, making him ask, “What happened?”
“The God of Calamity showed up and started fighting us and the other heroes.”
“What?! Climax is here?! Why?! I thought the Gods are forbidden from interfering in matters in the Physical Plane unless it’s to assist their followers or something like what Engraut does.”
Asura shook his head and replied, “I believed it as well, but Climax simply told me he’s here to exact his vengeance for attacking his son and making a fool out of him.”
“What? The Overlord is his son?” Lakshman asked, raising an eyebrow while looking surprised.
“No. Not him,” replied the first Phoenix Titan with a shake of his head and began explaining everything that had happened so far.
Once he finished, Lakshman smiled wryly and asked, “I take it you enjoyed tormenting Amit in the Spirit Plane with the unexpected help from the Spirit of Revenge?”
“I did,” replied Asura with relish.
“You certainly enjoyed, but how are we going to deal with a God like the God of Calamity?!” The fairy asked, looking worried. “From what I remember from the ancient scriptures, he’s said to be one of Strongest Gods out there.”
Within the Mythological Gods, there existed a category for each God to fit into. One category was the Support Gods, the second category was the Fighter Gods, such as the God of Justice, and the final category was known as the Strongest Gods, who are superior to the rest the other Gods.
“It’s said that the Strongest Gods were the first beings that were brought into existence by The Creator,” the fairy went on speaking in a worried voice. “As such, they possess incredible powers that would take, at least, three or four of the Fighter Gods to fight evenly.”
“You’re pretty knowledgeable for being a pixie,” remarked Asura, looking impressed.
“For the last time, I’m not a pixie!” The fairy said angrily, returning to her small size. “Still, what shall we do about the God of Calamity?! If he wants to destroy the world, then… then…!”
She faltered in finishing her sentence and gulped nervously.
Lakshman, who had remained silent throughout their exchange, finally spoke up by saying, “When I fought Climax back in our world, it was just his Astral Form that Asura forcefully conjured into reality. This time, it appears that he is ‘truly’ here, meaning that a straight up confrontation is a waste of time.”
“I agree,” said Asura, nodding in agreement. “We need a strategy against a being of this kind.” Everyone fell silent for a few seconds before Asura suggested, “How about getting help from Engraut? Maybe, he can convince this guy and make him leave since him being here on the grounds of his son being attacked shouldn’t be a valid reason.”
“Do you want me to get killed?” Engraut asked, startling everyone when he suddenly appeared out of nowhere.
“What the hell?!” Asura exclaimed in shock, taken aback at his sudden appearance. Then he became very angry as he jabbed at the God of Calamity seen through the visual display screen and said, “Come on, you goddamn god! Go out there and stop that guy!”
“What the heck do you expect me to do?!” Engraut exclaimed, looking alarmed. “I’m already shocked as is to see that guy here in full force! I’m actually amazed your world is still here. Normally, he’d destroy any world that he dislikes, but he’s probably being hindered due to him being here in an illegal manner. I mean, appearing in the Physical Plane when he shouldn’t have, all because his son was attacked and humiliated? Hardly a good reason for God to appear to be honest.”
“As I thought!” Asura exclaimed triumphantly. Then he grew suspicious and asked, “If you knew this much, then go out there and convince him.”
And I repeat, do you want me to die or something?” Engruat asked, looking irritably at him. “Only Gods can kill Gods, and he’s very angry right now! I doubt he would listen to reason, and in fact, I’m pretty sure he will destroy me for trying to interfere in his matters.”
Asura clicked his tongue and said, “What a useless God you are!”
“What do you expect from me?! I’m just a Support God for crying out loud!” Engraut exclaimed, appearing as though he was ready to cry.
“I don’t know! You could use your control over energy to make him unable to draw his powers? Ideas come when you start thinking of a way to use them properly!” Asura snapped.
“And you think that sort of thing would hold that kind of guy down?” Engraut asked in a depressed voice.
His words made Asura opened his mouth to retaliate, but then he saw the flaw and sighed before saying, “I guess not.”
As they fell silent, Lakshman said, “Alright. I got an idea,” and he turned to propose it to the God of Energy. When Engraut heard his idea, he, along with the fairy and Asura, were startled and attempted to protest. However, Lakshman seemed to raise his hand to stop them and spoke words to convince them before smiling pleasantly at them.
“Fine, but be careful,” said Engraut finally in resignation.
“Are you sure this is okay?” The fairy asked anxiously.
“It’s too risky, Lakshman. It could backfire,” said Asura warningly.
“No. It’ll work out. I know it will,” he said and smiled before ascending to take possession of his body as he finished saying, “because our lives depend on it.”

I am G00. I am a project made by some weirdo. Some may refer to me as the wobbly thing in the fridge or the slimy thing in the ceiling. Others might tell you about that sticky thing inside your nose. In the end, they called me the Seed of Life, yet didn’t tell me what I was supposed to become. Furthermore, it just happens that this stage was the most miserable place to reincarnate... Reincarnate as in… What the hell did I become?! (Whispers) You are a puddle. A puddle? (Whispers) Yes. C’mon little guy, say your lines! You’re live right now! Welcome to puddle-springs aka the afterlife of a puddle. CUT! Eh? Why?! No edition or photoshop needed?! We’re short on puddle-staff. The camera is broken, I am broken, and you are broken. Wait! How can a puddle be broken? You are not a puddle, you are frozen yogurt. NOOOOOOOOOO! Additional summary: Spoiler: Spoiler Humanity has finally made the second step towards space. Many developments were taking place at the time this happened. All of them accomplished thanks to nanotechnology. Inventions regarding Artificial Intelligence and nanorobotics created the opportunity, a way to terraform planets by sending nanorobots to space. Their orders? Colonizing and preparing the new worlds before humanity's arrival, aka terraforming. Meet G00, a weird agglomeration of nanomachines. A bit stupid, but it's not because he was like that. The little guy... 'He' is really broken. The hardest start of a story is when language is oddly misunderstood, when you know nothing of the place you just arrived; when your companion is a buggy system, and when you have to repair yourself with whatever trash you can scavenge from your surroundings. All of this while you fight your worst enemy: potatoes? What will you do in an unfamiliar circumstance where nothing is what it seems and where you won't even understand the boring ramblings of a confused main character? Well, patience will... probably have a reward? Additional tags and disclaimers: Read before starting the story: Harem: Not included for the moment, depends on characters added, votes by readers, and things that happen on the go. Magic: Far away chapters maybe... as part of high level or non-understandable things by science. Slice of life: Probably some parts will include it. Disclaimer #1: Crazy amount of content about high-tech info-dumps, slow pace, starts with biology and nanotechnology. Might have some weird jokes and puns. Game bugs are also possible. Disclaimer #2: No puddles were harmed during the making of this story. No character is real, no real puddle was used as part of the cast. Character is stupid at the start on purpose but he will get beta and beta. All written content follows a logical approach no matter how stupid it appears to be, maybe… Because it’s just a raccoon splashing some cotton-candy over a puddle after it was thrown. Yup, a bully raccoon with rabies or so it seems.
