《The Demon Lord who wished to be a Hero》Chapter 11 - Off to the Boss we go!

[Zxel]

So, It’s been a few days now since the shrine has been made. We’ve upgraded the village to have a better barracks and armoury! They are now larger with actual rakes to hold weapons and wooden armour. It also has those archery targets things made out of wood and painted with dye. Training dummies made out of wood with wooden armoury also came from the upgrade.

Currently, Wrak is building a Storage for food and preserving it. It would be better to have a whole building for storing food right now, rather than having the pile out in the open on animal pelts which were doing right now. It could also hamper the smell of rotting flesh that they haven't cooked yet…

Now onto more interesting matters. Nibbit didn’t tell me that the shrine would affect those outside of the village. I’ve should’ve assumed it did however when it just started spewing all that smoke everywhere. The wild monsters outside have started to grow stronger such as the Shadow Wolves have Evolved into Dire Shadow Wolves. I heard from a Goblin Scout earlier today, apparently the Slimes and Horned Rabbits near the Outer Core of the forest are being affected as well.

Hopefully this doesn’t bite me in the ass, as I don’t think the human town is very happy about it unless they want stronger monsters to kill. Which I doubt.

Some good news is that some of the Goblins have evolved into Hobgoblins! Amazing right! The ones to Evolve were Nibbit, Mibbit and apparently the leader of the Hunting party, Stronk.

We just had a feast yesterday to celebrate the evolution of the three as this is just the beginning of the rise of my people. They were eating to their heart's content, children were running around and dancing without a care in the world, and when everything was done everyone started humming and singing. I couldn’t understand what they were singing about, but Nibbit later told me that they were singing an old goblin song for Hope.

Nibbit was in tears when the singing was done. I don’t know whether it was because it wasn’t the traditional Goblin Speak or because he was filled with hope due to the song.

It could've also been how squeaky they sound when singing.

Anyways, how we got most of the food was from when me and Nibbit went out hunting which we got a nice catch of 120 of those evolved Wolves over the past few days.

I’m around 48 ish% closer to leveling up again… Before it would just take 20 of the weaker versions of the Wolves, including an Alpha to get me all the way to level 11. This is going to be big pain in the ass.

At least I’m only affected by it so I could essentially use how powerful I am to help others level up quickly and use them to fight… That doesn’t sound very heroic or good… This is so much harder than I thought it would be.

If this was just a game than I would feel nothing about it, even if I am supposed to be a good guy, in war games with minions you would just send them out to die so they could kill the opponent's men. You never know nor care if they had families, loved ones, dreams or aspirations, just jumbled up codes to be used in a fake world.

But in this world, which is most certainly a real world and not a game, except for those Gods and Goddesses most likely. These peoples lives do have a meaning and purpose and it would be a waste to throw them away as just cannon fodder and a means to an end.

But the harsh fucking reality of this is that in the future I will most like have to make some hard decisions and do things I would never do…

What the hell, why am I being so depressing right now? This is something to worry about in the future when we are more settled down and stable, not when we are still so weak and fragile!

We must continue to grow, to strive and survive!

“Nibbit!” I roar, stomping on the ground. Shortly after I hear something sprinting towards me.

Nibbit shows up in his new Glorious Hobgoblin form. 5’4 foot tall humanoid figure with light gray skin tone, black eyes, young human like face only marred two short tusks coming out of his cheeks and sharp knife teeth. He’s wearing a full set of fur from the Dire Shadow Wolves and still wearing his [Poisonous Oak Staff] which he was gifted from the last Goblin Mage in their village.

It seems that evolving refreshes the person's age if they are quite old like Nibbit here, or it seems that it just changed what he would look like for a Hobgoblin would be for how old he is.

“I’m here Sire, what is your will?” Nibbit says with a bow and looks up with determination in his eyes.

I nod with a slight smile on my face and stroke my chin before I respond. “It seems that with your evolution you have become quite faster Nibbit. How does it feel to have better mobility now that you look younger and more physically fit as well?”

“Amazing Sire! I can’t believe how more efficient I am now in everything I do, even my magic abilities has increased by leaps in bounds!” He says laughing and with a giant smile on his face.

“It’s all thanks to you Sire, I never believed I would live long enough to Evolve or to have so many great things to happen to us. Thank you..” He says and bows again with tears in his eyes.

I put my hand on his shoulder and he twitched before he looks up at me to see me smiling brightly at him.

“You don’t need to keep thanking me Nibbit. If anything I should be thanking you for helping me for the past few days to filling in the gaps of knowledge I didn’t get when I first entered this world. For that you have my gratitude.” I say and bow to him who freaks out, panicking and waving around frantically.

“It was no problem at all Sire! I had to do it out of my sense-” He starts saying before I put my hand up to stop him, which I reply and grin. “Just take the compliment.”

It takes a moment for him to break out of stupor and stand up straight and nod his head. I snort and inwardly laugh at how interesting his antics are, but I can’t really blame him for them.

“Now, the real reason I called you here is because I wish to ask you if there's anything in the forest which be considered a boss or ruler of it. If so, I plan to kill it for training and to either revive it or feed it to Rotty because I think he has been getting tired on the Dire Shadow Wolves, since everytime he looks at one now it looks like he is going to vomit!” I laugh just remembering Rotty’s reaction to seeing a corpse of one of them earlier today.

Nibbit stands there with a frown on his face, staring at the ground. He starts tapping his staff on the ground as he usually does when he is thinking. After several seconds and looks up at me to nod.

“Yes, there is a [Boss] for the Forest, a Dire Bear but I’m assuming it has probably has grown stronger from the Shrine. Just to inform you for the future, Sire. Boss Class monsters like the Bear are way stronger than their normal counterparts which you also probably assumed. Boss class monsters are also usually found in an area filled with monsters like our village, which I was anointed as it’s boss.” He says.

“So, if we had another Hobgoblin of your skill level, you would be stronger than him? Also, why aren’t I classified as the boss considering i’m the strongest monster in the village.” I tap my chin and ask Nibbit.

Nibbit scratches his head with a thoughtful expression on his face before he answers me. “I don’t really know myself but it is probably have to be that I was born in the area and am the strongest that was born in the village so I was anointed.”

So there is prerequisite to become a Boss Class monster huh? Interesting. I wonder if their is Raid Boss monsters as well. Just imagine walking through the woods alone and finding a Raid Boss monster. Now that's a scary thought…

Well, I know what i’m hunting now. Time to kill a Boss Class Dire Bear! I should do everything I need to do in the village before I leave though just in case it takes a while to get to the boss and back.

“Nibbit could you get all the supplies we would need for looking for the boss and coming back? I plan to talk to a few people for I leave.” I ask Nibbit who salutes and says, “Of course! Everything will be doner by the time you're ready to leave!”

With that being said, I leave Nibbit to get the supplies while I go look for Stronk and Mibbit. I go look for Stronk so I can give him the task to start training Goblins with the use of the spear so we can have more people to hunt and to protect the village if need be. While I need to talk to Mibbit so he can record how many Goblins are here, what they are personally good at and other miscellaneous stuff while I’m away.

I start walking towards the barracks where I have been noticing where Stronk has been hanging out, usually hacking away at the new training dummies like if he hit them hard enough and enough times, candy will spill out like a piñata.

As I reach the new barracks I can hear the ‘Thwack’ that is coming from the training dummies from being hit so I know Stronk is here training or just hitting them for fun.

When I enter I see Stronk in bloody and battered iron armour that also fits his 5’7 foot statue now. Unlike Nibbit who has smooth and scarless skin, Stronk has tons of scars over his body and several visible on his face. His tusks are also way larger than Nibbit, Mibbit or any other Goblin by a large margin.

His sword is currently being violently hacked against the training dummies and being ripped out of them every time it get gets stuck in the wood. From the way he uses it, he would be more suited for an Axe or one of those unrealistically sized swords as big as people's body.

I start coughing into my fist to try to get his attention but it is unnoticed by him, as he continues to strike the training dummy with vigor. I cough louder and I get the same result. It’s only when I go cough a third time, I sneeze by accident, and I’m one of those people who make those thunderclap like sneezes.

His reaction was pretty entertaining as he jumped like cat into the air when I sneezed and he his facial expression was filled with a mixture of shock and terror like a dragon just roared behind.

I smile slightly at the thought that a mere sneezed brought him out of his concentration, and I also wonder how detrimental my sneezing volume would be if I was trying to sneak around quietly…

I shake my head to clear the thoughts and watch as Stronk walks up to slowly, looking around cautiously until he is right in front of me. Noticing he is only a foot away from me, he instantly goes down on one knee, looking at the ground as he shakes violently.

“Th-this one kneels t-to Lord and M-master…” Stronk stutters with his deep and gruff voice. “I didn’t m-mean to be this close Master… This lowly being a-asks for your forgiveness.”

Oh, this is interesting. He seems to be pretty loyal to me, almost to Nibbit’s fantastic level. Stronk will be a useful asset indeed. It also seems evolving has increased his intelligence to be able to speak fluently. I faintly remember Nibbit talking about how Idiotic he was when he was a Goblin.

“Now, Stronk I have come here to give you list of commands to do while I’m away and to continue once I get back. I want you to start training Gobins to use weapons to protect the village if monsters attacked and for possible new hunting party Members. I also wish to have several Goblins standing guard around the village to make sure no Monsters get in the village and to warn you or other capable members. Do you understand?”

“I do Master! I already have several Goblins in mind that would gladly go through training to serve you and the village more! Everything will be done by thine will!” Stronk hits his chest in a salute.

I smile and laugh at his eagerness to serve. “Good, good! I have high hopes for you Stronk! Please do not disappoint me!” I clasp his shoulder for a second and leave with him still kneeling.

With Stronk having his mission, I only need to see Mibbit and give him his mission before I leave to slaughter the Boss. I wonder what bonuses I will get for killing it. Maybe a rare item or something perhaps?

I start going around looking for the final Hobgoblin in the village. It can’t be that hard considering he looks different from the others. After a while I notice a taller individual around the Shrine, eyeing it and sometimes putting their hand on the crystal.

I walk over to the figure and confirm it is Mibbit fondling the crystal. The differences he has from Stronk and Nibbit is that he has two stubby horns coming out of his forehead, which the other two don’t have. He also has 2 inch long claws at the end of his fingers.

From this I can think that Nibbit is going down the Lord pathway, which deals heavily with magic, while Stronk is going down strength to become an Orc in his next evolution while Mibbit here is going down the Demonic route.

Nibbit told me more about evolutions since the three evolved as he thinks I would enjoy the knowledge. He said I could perhaps use the knowledge to help guide certain individuals to a path that I think we will need. Like if we needed more strength fighters, I could put some in training for melee weapons or if I wanted more magically adept evolutions I would task Nibbit to train someone in magic.

It seems that Mibbit has been embracing or is at least knowing he is going down the Demonic route and it makes sense as one needs to enjoy and pursuit sinful ways. Plus, considering how proudful he was when I gave him my left hand man title, I can’t really be surprise.

As I get in a few meters distance of him, he abruptly turns, his chin up and a suffocatingly arrogant atmosphere rolls off of him. I so fucking regret giving him that rank…

“Is there something my Liege needs of me? Or have you come to see a waste of a good quality Soul Gem?” He smirks and crosses his arms.

… I can already see him doing something like a rebellion in the future or something with the attitude of him.. Maybe it would just be easier to- No! No no, I will not be a Tyrant to my people! Even if I have to deal with this clown… I’ll just have to watch him more closely…

Even though it says that my minions won’t betray me, it still doesn’t sit well with me how.. Whatever this is! His attitude to me, it just feels… Irritating.

“You know what Mibbit. I was feeling bad about going to give you a really boring task but now I don’t. At all. I hope you enjoy categorizing everybody in the village. Their age, gender, level, height, even how many growths on their back they have. Than after you do that, you can go over to Stronk and train with him till I get back. Have fun!” After saying that to him, he just freezes with his eyes wide and his mouth open like a goldfish.

“M-my Liege, I was merely jesting! I beseech you to rethink this course of action! The shrine was a splendid idea, I don’t know what I was even saying just a moment ago! I was clearly not thinking straight about such a amazing and ingenious idea you had!” He says, his whole body shaking and looking frantically at me.

Oh, this feels so good… Paybacks a bitch… Even though I’m acting childish about this…

I just give him a broad smile and say this before I leave him to go find Nibbit. “I hope you enjoy exercise!”

I swear, when I was leaving, I heard his teeth grinding so hard they were turning into dust.

With my spirits high and excitement even higher, I go to search for Nibbit so we can start our little hunt. It feels strange that i’m so hyped about this. Going to hunt something that might be stronger than me, something with unknown factors such as if it evolved or not…

I doubt the Boss is stronger than a Lv110 player, so I’ll be fine! I should be more worried about the Bear’s life as it will be about to get rekt’d! I wonder if I will get a title for killing the Boss in one hit…

I soon find Nibbit sitting down beside Rotty with a few bulging animal skin sacks lying by their feet. He is lightly petting Rotty’s skull as Rotty makes a demented purring sound, seemingly a pleasant reaction to the attention and petting he is getting.

As I get closer Rotty gets up and walks over to me and presses his body against me, looking right up at me and panting. I don’t know how a zombie wolf pants considering it doesn’t breath but I can feel the breath and rancid smell hitting my face.

I scratch Rotty’s ear but my fingers just sink right into his flesh and a few maggots come out and crawl over my fingers… So living pets have fleas and worms but dead pets have maggots and.. Probably worms as well.

I wipe away the maggots with a wry smile on my face while inwardly cringing at the maggots. I look at Nibbit and he gets up with a great smile on his face.

“I’ve gotten everything you asked for sire! We are ready to leave at your leisure now.” He says with a bow, which I nod and look at Rotty.

“I’m thinking of keeping Rotty here to help protect the village while we’re gone, I doubt anything will happen but what do you think? I doubt we will need Rotty to help kill the Bear.” I say while scratching my chin, with the hand that didn’t have maggots touching.

Nibbit frowns at what I suggested but soon enough nods and says, “Yes it would be best for Rotty to stay here, but I do agree with you about it is unlikely that anything would come that Rotty would need to attack considering this village has been undiscovered since… I don’t know actually. But don’t worry Sire! You have nothing to fear!”

I snort at his response, and snap my fingers at Rotty to make sure I have his attention. “Watch over the village and protect any goblin from outside threats, got it?”

Rotty starts barking excitedly and walks away, not before he licks my head a few times leaving some reddish brown liquid on it.

I make sure I clad my hand in hellfire for a split second to burn off all of the gunk.

It’s interesting on how useful Hellfire is, it burns everything to oblivion almost in an instant if it touches something. The heat it also gives off is ridiculous as I once made a Hellfire ball and all the plant life 2 meters around me burst into flames or wilted if they were 5 meters around me. But the heat to me feels amazing, it’s like being bathed in a sauna or hot tub.

Can’t say the same for Nibbit or the others considering they are bathed in sweat like they were dropped into a volcano and become as pale as a marble statue.

I’ve also got the skill ‘Hellfire Cladding’ which allows me to clad a piece of my body or my whole body in Hellfire, and depending what body part or how many I clad will increase or decrease the amount of mana I use per second.

After burning off the gunk I walk over to the stuff that Nibbit has gotten ready and put into my inventory and watched to my amusement to his response of shock, awe, blathering about how incredible I am and that he will work even harder for me now.

And with that we head out of the village with some of the Goblins waving us goodbye for our hopefully short trip to the Boss of the forest and any treasure that it may have.

So me and Nibbit have been making our way DOWN T- Okay sorry, we’ve been making our way towards the Boss or at least where Nibbit thinks the Boss is which is in the center of the bloody forest.

It’s so boring to walk all the way there considering that no monster will even come close to us due to the strength I give off now. The one time I did see a monster was a lone Shadow Wolf and it sprinted away with it’s tail between it’s legs as soon as it saw me.

It makes me wonder what will the Boss’s reaction to me will be once it sees me. Will it run, fight me or just go on it’s back to submit to me. A part of me want’s it to fight and the other hopes for it to submit.

Anyways, other than that one wolf nothing interesting happened besides seeing glowing plants and trees that lighted up the perpetual darkness or ‘Twilight’ of the forest. I don’t know If I said this or not but I really enjoy the look of the forest and the atmosphere.

It’s calming but also eerie at the same time. The soft glowing plants that dim and light up in a rhythm as well as the soft sound of the buzzing of insects. The distant howling of wolves and who's from some kind of Owl I’m assuming since I haven't seen it yet. We sometimes see a small waterfall and the stream it makes. The sound of trickling water and the bioluminescent fish that swim in the stream is gorgeous.

If I had the chance to settle down for life like when I retire and living the rest of my days, I would like to stay here. To be one with this ecosystem and enjoy the serenity that comes with it.

Now, we aren’t here to gawk at the amazing background but about the hunt for the Boss. I’ve already ate several more pieces of the cooked pig meat Nibbit got for me since we were out here for so long now.

We can’t tell how much time as passed as the Canopy blocks out the sun, which is a problem but I doubt it has been for than a couple of hours. We can also get back to the Village pretty quickly due to my increased agility stats which would make it lickity split to get back in a hurry.

“Sire, may I ask you a question? It has been on my mind for a while now and I would really appreciate it if you could give your wisdom to this servant of yours.” Nibbit says meekly and not even looking at me when he speaks.

“Hmm? What is it Nibbit?” I Cock my head my head sideways as I look at him curiously at what he might want to know.

He starts shifting around, looking pretty uncomfortable, he’s even scratching random spots on his body. “I-I was wondering… What will you do when y-you get better and stronger servants than us? Like if we don’t evolve fast enough and more stronger monsters or demons join you. Will… Will you leave us behind…?” He looks up at my face, his eyes slightly red and puffy like he was crying, his face looking gloomy and like a frightened child.

I feel a taut knot and pull in my chest at the question and his appearance right now. I instantly give him a tight hug. Maybe a little too tight as I might’ve heard a crack…

“Don’t worry, I would never leave you guys behind if I get new people. You and the rest of the people will always be the first and best of my servants and nothing will change that, got it? All of you have a special place in my heart and I will defend you all with fire and brimstone!” I proclaim loudly while still hugging Nibbit who sobs a few times and smiles after I let go of him.

He says thank you with a sniveling voice and I just pat his head again to help calm him down. A few minutes after that we continue back on our trek.

After what feels like another few hours we finally reach the wide maw of a cave with bones littered around it. As you can guess, this is probably the Boss’s lair. Nibbit and his humongous amount of bravery made him stay far behind me to make sure ‘No one ambushes me when I fight the Boss’. He assured me the shaking of his legs had nothing to do with the feeling of sickness and dread he is getting from the entrance of the cave.

Now let's see how I will draw the big bad boss out of it’s lair. If it’s even in there right now. I could perhaps try to smoke it out with hellfire… Lets not.. Blood magic won’t help since I will need to get close, entomancy, won’t work because I have no bugs with me, necromancy.. That’ll work I guess!

Now to just use Raise Lesser Dead on the bones and see what happens I guess!

And with that a black misasa comes out from around me and starts creeping towards the bones littering around, seeping into them. They start to converge into one single point in front of me into a pile before starting to construct a ‘Lesser Skeleton’ Ranked creature.

The bones start to form a bipedal skeleton, having long legs and feet with claws on them, the torso fully encased with bones like it was melded together to make armour or be a cage for an object which it does as shown with a soul, a blue orb in the middle of it. Four arms are made each with seven long claws at the end and finally the spinal column reaches from the traditional tail bone all the way 2 extra feet from the torso and has a… Conglomerate of different skulls mashed togethers, with several jaws/mandibles to make it seem to have multiple mouths and even more holes for what would be for the noses and eye sockets. The entire figure being about 8 feet tall.

What in God’s name is this?

Congratulations!

You have created an Lesser Skeletal Abomination by using bones from a multiple of different species! Sadly it is only a Lesser version due to your spell which hinders it’s integrity but it is still something nonetheless! May your continuation in the field of Necromancy bring upon new unholy creations to terrorize the world!

New Summon - [Unnamed] [Lesser Skeletal Abomination] Lv 67

Well that explains that I guess… Uhm.. What to call it? Hmm, I shall name you Sceletus!

Update for Summon’s Menu

Current Summons:

Rotty - Lv 34 - Undead(Zombie) Terror Direwolf

Sceletus - Lv 67 - Lesser Skeletal Abomination

Well, this is a bit overkill though. Didn’t bring Rotty since he could protect the village and that I didn’t need him to help fight the Boss and then I make a new Undead minion only to make him almost double his Level… I almost feel bad for the boss but considering If either one of them could kill the boss single handedly, what about me?

I’m getting ahead of myself, let's just send in Sceletus to see if the Boss is there.

“Go in there and bring out the Boss if you see it, if it isn’t in there come back and shake your head in a negative fashion!” I command which my Minion stalks away into the cave without a sound. A silent horrifying abomination, I pity the first human or other sentient race that meets him for the first time…

Not even a minute after Sceletus enters the Cave a blast fire bursts outside of the cave and almost hits me if not for my quick reflexes that made me doge roll out of the way, ha ha! I also got this message… Dammit..

Notifacation!

Your summon Sceletus has been defeated! Burned and smashed to death [Again!] by a Lv 95 Shadowflare Hindbear (Boss)! Let it feel your vengeance for the loss of your summon’s unlife!

After I read the message I see a behemoth of what is this Shadowflare Hindbear. The structure of a grizzly bear but double it’s size, having a dark purple coat with sparks of fire floating around it. Blood red eyes glare out from the hulk of fat and muscle with it’s maw stretched open showing it’s six inch incisors and glowing throat as it is preparing another blast of fire!

“Nibbit get out of here!” I shout fear creeping into my voice for the poor bastard. “I don’t want you to get caught in the cross between us! Hurry up and retreat until I call the coast clear!”

Nibbit is shaking to his core as he fumbles to get his bearings and to run away. He quickly shouts and runs away saying. “I’m so sorry for being of no help sire! Pardon this useless servant of yours!”

Ughhh… This is going to be a pain in the ass… I sigh and take out my Scythe ready to the face the Boss. I can feel myself shaking, the adrenaline pumping, time feeling like it is slowing and the smell of the last meal of the Bear’s.

This all reminds me of the time my father and Alexander’s father brought us out into the woods and made us fight a Grizzly bears. We didn’t use a scythe, and the Bear wasn’t twice the size and could shoot fire out of his mouth but it’s mostly the same right?

Father was always a sadistic bastard with shit like that… Sigh…

While I was ‘reminiscing’ about the ‘hunting’ the Boss started firing of globs of molten fire being hurled my way. I dodged to the left and right, even diving to evade the blazing balls of death.

I can clearly see the Boss angered as it is shaking itself somewhat violently while it roars at me like it’s telling me to just stay still and die. Or maybe it could be more of a grumpy old man telling a young whippersnapper to get off his bloody lawn. We’ll never know I guess.

So how am I going to kill the big tub of lard huh? Entomancy is useless, Necromancy isn’t that powerful as shown with the late Sceletus, bless his bones. Biomancy has no offensive capabilities yet unless I would be able to make his skin rupture or blister which would more likely just piss it off, and I would rather not get to close to it even if my stats are good enough to take a hit or two…

Bloodmancy can give me some distance in my attacks with the blood whips which would be nice however my armour is preventing me from nicking any part that would give a good spot to make one. Hellfire is a no go however as I don’t wish to burn down the whole forest even though the wood would probably turn to ash before it could spread…

So the last thing that would be viable to use against the Boss is Nightmare magic, more specifically the Nightmare Cloak as it can be used to bolster my attack power and my defensive capabilities. The Nightmare Spear is a no go because I would rather not create a Nightmare Demon by accident, and I will follow the advice from the Demi-God of Chaos [Even though that itself sounds like a bad idea…]

I take out Thanatos's Harbinger as badass as possible for a weapon that just appears into your hands getting into a stance and cast Nightmare cloak. I almost feel bad for what the poor bastard is going up against now.

As I activate the cloak my body is engulfed by black miasma until it creates the same image/apparition that kept me in it’s ribs like last time. But there is a few differences this time, like it’s holding almost a mirror image of my weapon and is mostly clad in demonic razor sharp armour that is spewing out what looks to be gaseous forms of faces in agony.

I quite like the improvement even though it’s unsettling to see but the results so far are incredible as the Boss has actually take a few steps back and I don’t think it’s shaking out of anger anymore!

I wonder how good Hindbear will taste after I split it clean down the middle… With that thought I lick my lips and I can feel a strange hunger in my core, gnawing away as it strangely fills my body with energy.

I take two steps forward before I lunge forward with a malicious grin on my face, grinning ear to ear as I watch the Boss try to retreat into the cave all for not however. As soon as it turned it’s back it was dead.

I along with my Cloak both slashed at it with our weapons cutting it in half. The Boss with it’s running momentum continued forward until it split in half, blood and innards erupting out of it like an egg. The rancid smell of burnt flesh and blood filled the air as I watch the Boss lay dead.

A large blue orb floats to me, the Soul of the Boss. As I reach for it, the cloak’s claw like fingers touch it before me, mimicking my moment. As the claw fingers touch it, the Soul quickly turns dark purple before into a black goo like substance before it assimilates into the cloak.

I don’t know how I should feel about that. My cloak corrupting a soul and than absorbing it. To me that looks like a bad omen or something. Anyways there is no point in worrying about something you can’t do anything about it at the moment.

With that said, I cancel the spell, call back Nibbit and look at the Notification I got after splitting the sucker in half. A part of me still thinks it was to easy to kill it. But it’s probably thanks to how Op my affinities are, right.

Notifacation

You have ended the reign of the Lv 95 Shadowflare Hind Bear that ruled over the Twilight Forest! Congrats Slayer on your victory! This is truly a moment to celebrate as not many people may slay a Boss in their Lifetime! You will gain 2x the experience of the kill that you would normally receive as it is a Boss, you will also gain a Title as you killed a Boss, and an upgraded version as you did it Solo and it was a higher Level than you!

You also have met the qualifications to be labeled the new Boss for the Twilight Forest. This will make all creatures in the forest fear you and not dare fight you unless corned. You will not gain any level bonuses as you are a ‘Player’ and you shall lose the position and Title of being the Boss of the Twilight Forest if you leave it. Do you wish to take the Position?

Uhm,Sure. I see why not to, doesn’t give me any penalties or anything so why not.

Congratulations!

You have become the newest Boss of the Twilight Forest! May everyone who enters your domain know of the strength and death you may bring to those foolish enough to tread into your lair.

After that congratulations I now look at my Status screen to see what I got now after the fight. Lets see how close I am to leveling now!

Awww… I didn’t level up.. And it didn’t give me a lot of experience as it only gave me around 16 thousand experience points. But atleast I got two new titles! Even though I doubt they really do anything besides being somewhat of an achievement unless they tell what they do, if even do give bonuses or something.

And the number in the brackets, not the square brackets, are the stats I am getting from my equipment if you didn’t know. Very helpful of knowing what you have normally and what your getting from items.

I wave my hand to get rid of the Status screen and see Nibbit shakes vigorously from laughing. His hands on his face while he stares and laughs at the Hindbear’s corpse. I smile wryly at the sight of this.

“I can’t believe Sire as done such an incredible thing! N-not like I didn’t believe you that couldn’t defeat such a thing, but, but you did it! Hahaha!” Nibbit laughs as he stamps on the ground with his left foot.

I puff out my chest and smile victoriously, giving off a feeling of superiority and a bit of arrogance. “Something like this was never something that would threaten me! I am the Great Lord of the Twilight Forest! (now anyways)” I swing my Scythe around to make myself look intimidating, but that's not hard to do with my weapon and my stature.

Nibbit nods his head so violently that it looks like it’s going to pop off until I pat his shoulder and walk over to the corpse to put it into my Inventory. He quickly follows me as the corpse turns into particles and disappears.

“So what now, should we enter the late Hindbear’s cave or head back. I think there is probably some good loot in there that it has been hoarding..” I smile at the thought of getting anything from a boss, even if it’s crappy I can just give it someone back at the village who deserves a reward.

Nibbit rubs his hands together and smirks at my options. “I would suggest going into the cave for a quick look to see if there's anything of value.” Looks like he is also a bit greedy like me, maybe it’s just a Goblin/Hobgoblin thing.

“Let's go than!” I laugh and stroll up into the cave with Nibbit right behind me. As we enter the dark and musty cave we can smell decaying flesh and see flies buzzing around. We see nothing of interest until we get 10 meters inside and then the entrance of the cave shuts closed with a slam...
