Monk #2: I found a lantern.
--- Chapter 90 ---
Red: Really? But why do you need me?
Monk #2: Well…
He leads his brother and Red into the forest, to where he found the lantern.
Red: … Oh…
Before Red stands a massive stone lantern, with four large handles. The four handles are for 4 different people to carry it.
Red: But, how is one person supposed to carry this thing?
Monk #2: Well that’s what I thought, but then I thought about it. She never said only 10 people can go through, we all just assumed that. They had been saying that we aren’t on teams anymore, but that’s the only thing I can think of.
A bush to their left rustles, and coming from it is Leo. His eyes glide over to see them.
Leo: Thanks for leading me to a lantern.
His hair begins to move and float slightly, a green ooze begins to generate from his hair, and it floats, clumping into four large arms. They rocket toward the lantern and grab the handles. They lift, but the lantern doesn't budge. He gives it a confused look, and a mass amount of ooze comes out making the arms massive in size. Ruins begin to glow on the lantern, and it still doesn't budge. The ooze begins to evaporate. Leo tilts his head to the left and looks at the ground.
Leo: It won’t budge.
Red: Yah think?
???: Yeah, no matter how much you lift it won’t budge.
They look suddenly, as they had not realized another group had found them. Ryan’s little sister and she’s piggybacking on the guy with blue hair and bags under his eyes. She jumps down and starts to examine the Lantern.
Sister: Mhm, yup, mhm, exactly what I thought. This lantern is sealed with many enchantments that add weight to it. But there is a bypass. If four different people carry it together, it should be easy. But there is more to these enchantments, the flames that will burn-

Bursting through the trees is Geno and the “Most favored to win” kid from maskrah. Geno has steel gauntlets from his insignia on, and the kid is standing in a martial fighting stance. Then they both look over at this group of people standing around a giant lantern.
Favored: Uh, what is going on here, if you don’t mind me asking.
Sister: This lantern is sealed-
Red: You need four people to carry it.
Sister: Hey! Also when it’s lit, its flame will bring monsters toward it.
Red: Why didn’t you say that before?
Sister: I was going to but you and they cut me off-
Monk #1: Ok, I came up with a plan.
Sister: AHHH-
Red: What’s your plan?
Sister: I give up.
Monk #1: So you see, I know a technique that when I chant the words, I can seal a magic item’s magic if the enchantment is low enough. And while I do that, You, that Leo guy, the tired guy, and my brother can carry it.
Red: Hey that’s pretty smart.
Geno: Hey why aren’t you including us!
Favored: Yah!
Monk #1: Well, you were fighting, I thought you were like, gonna continue that.
Geno: I’d rather a win over fighting.
Monk #1: Fair enough. Then what are your arcanas?
Everyone stays silent.
Monk #1: Right, I apologize. This is still a competition. Then Red, Leo, Tired kid, and you, the guy with the gauntlets. You guys carry this thing. I will seal the lantern, and my brother and the favored guy will cover the front and back respectively. Sound like a plan?
Red: Yah!
Sister: What about me?
Monk: Oh, just make sure the fire doesn't go out.
Sister: I feel my value is seen as less than it should be.
Red: Alright! Let’s get going!
They all get into their position. The people holding the lantern begin to lift, and sure enough, it lifts. They all look around a little excited.
Monk #1: Ok, I’m going to light it now.
He lights the match, looks around, and drops the match inside. The lantern bursts in an incandescent blue flame. The monk twin begins to mutter his chants as they move along.

Synergy
Dear Inspector, Please accept this letter as my formal resignation from being a Player. Hey! Laugh all you want, but I had to try. With no rules down here, who's to say that I can't resign? Anyway, my reasons are simple: I'm neither a gamer nor a hero. You got the wrong person for the job. Sure, the pay is decent and I could pretty much live like a king if, you know, I wasn't so busy trying to survive. I have major concerns about the demonic dagger bound to my soul too. Come to think of it, I've never asked to be transported to this fantasy land either and would like you to return me home, thank you very much. I don't want supernatural powers, I don't want to complete quests after quests, and I don't want to be your test subject anymore. What? I'm not whining, you're whining. Stop making excuses and let me leave already. Thank you for your understanding, and I hope you'll find a better replacement after I'm gone for good. Sincerely,Randel, the Mad Painter What to expect from Synergy: --> Some GameLit elements are presented subversively. If you want the protagonist to “play the game” properly, this might not be the story for you.--> No filler chapters; the story's structure is already plotted out. It's going to have six story arcs.--> Character development happens slowly, over many chapters. Don't expect a perfect protagonist right off the bat.--> Some romance, but it will never be the main focus.--> Humor and dark elements in equal measure, but not to the extent that I’d label this story as “Comedy” or “Grimdark”. ... and lots and lots of Author's Notes. See you on the other side of the portal!

Homecoming | A Chronicles of Ascension Story
When Jethen was captured by slavers, his childhood was torn from him and left shattered half a world away. When he finds himself back home decades later, by methods he does not fully understand, he finds that the life he has lived has changed him far more than he knew. In a home he no longer knows. Places and people at the same time familiar and foreign, he must decide - stay and help with his parent's business, or return to the land that remade him and the family he made there. --------- Homecoming started as just a short story to break an episode of writers block. It has since morphed well beyond that into a novel in it's own right, and may well end up with a sequel. The writing of Homecoming became a bit of a self induced challenge to improve my initial, first brush, writing quality. Each chapter was written raw, given a once over read and edit, and then posted. In this way I am forcing myself to write better from the start. I do hope you enjoy the story and will leave a comment or review, and if you see an issue, feel free to let me know as well. I know it is not nearly perfect, and it will get a full and proper edit once I am done. Never hurts to fix things along the way though. As an additional note. The story has undergone a structural rework and has been reposted in an updated structure and sequence of chapters. If you have read this story already, I invite you to do so again in this new structure.

A Beholder's Path
Hello, it’s me, Aether. As a beholder, curiosity is the driving force of my existence, which is why when I found a new world close to mine, I just had to tear a passage through spacetime to explore it. The rest of the demon world may or may not have used this passage to invade, but I am sure all the sentient races of that world would agree a demon apocalypse is definitely in the top ten best things that could happen to them.
