Sole: How intriguing. Something so fragile and beneath me, being what seems to be a navigator for a worthwhile combat. I will allow it to be in my presence for just a little longer.
--- Chapter 37 ---
El walks along, dragging her feets as there's no current action. She's strapped up in a fancy white jumpsuit like attire, with a backpack on. As she's walking she starts to hear a metal scraping sound coming from around the corner. She quickly runs up to the corner and pears around it. There in the street are a pile of bloody bodies, people who ignored the warnings. A man in bloody clothes, with a smile on his face walks up the street with a scythe. The scythes sides decaled with what looks like sharp spiky teeth. The tip of the scythe scrapes against the stone brick roads. A panic goes over El before she calms herself by closing her eyes and taking a breath. As she opens them, the man is smiling in her face.
Man: Hey there.
He swings his scythe at her, and she rolls out of the way, with the scythe hitting and sticking in the wall that was behind her. He rips it out of the wall. He looks to the side she rolled and looks around, not seeing her.
Man: Where the hell did she go?
??? Behind you.
A dark demonic voice chimes in. He swiftly turns around, spotting El moving in, he starts swinging the scythe around with elegant yet heavy swings at her. She keeps dodging back as he swings.
El: I can't even get close to this guy! And who told him I was there?! Im very quiet, so how?
Man: You're a quick one! Not quick enough though.
He starts running in swinging even faster. She quickly touches the ground, and jumps, and suddenly a burst of force pushes her upward and out of harm's way. She lands on a rooftop.

???: Don't let her get away.
Man: I know I know, don't get your stick in a twist.
He leaps onto the roof, and starts to chase her down. The stick of the scythe starts to splinter, and stab into his arm, his blood drips down the stick, and his blood seeps into the wood, and the scythe seems to become more menacing. His movement gets faster as he starts to close in on El.
???: To your left.
The man quickly looks to his left and leaps back in shock, as a girl rockets down to where he was standing. El stops and looks back.
El: Toa!
Toa: How are you doing kiddo?
El: Pretty good now that you're here sis.
El walks up next to her.
Toa: So what do you know about this creep.
El: He’s crazy, and I think he talks to his scythe.
Toa: Talks to it huh? That might mean that scythe is-
Man: I'm right here ladies! Stop calling me crazy!
He runs in and slices at them, El jumps back from him but Toa stands there. She brings her hand to the side and palm strikes the scythes blade, on her hand is an orange ring. When she does, the weapon's gravity is increased and it smacks into the ground, the guy tries to pull it up but it's way too heavy.
Man: You BITCH!
He lets go and goes to kick her, her palm strikes his foot with her other palm, having a blue ring on it. He feels lighter instantly and gets pushed back by the palm, he floats a bit going back before hitting the ground. Toa looks back at her sister. El nods, and pulls a loop on her backpack, causing her to go seemingly weightless as she jumps at the guy getting up. She is over him and he grabs his shoulders, and turns into a flip throwing him far. He feels a weird feeling when she touches him. El lands on the ground and leaps into the air toward him. She lifts her hand toward him, and with a burst he goes flying, as if being forced at immense speeds away from her. She slowly falls down onto the building and pulls the cord again, giving her weight back. She walks over to Toa who is inspecting the scythe.

El: Do you know what it is?
Toa: I'm not sure, but if it really talks, it might be one of the thousand.
El: Wow really?
Toa: Possibly.
As the guy is flying away, gravity returns to normal sending him plummeting into the ground. The scythe starts the burn, and turns into ash. The man's forearm opens up with splintering wood, as the blade end comes out of his arm.
???: You failed.
Man: What?
He says in pain from broken bones.
???: You let them live.
Man: But they beat me! It's not like i had a choice or anything!
???: I will not be owned by a failure. I will now be retrieving the name Xenox from you now.
Man: Wait, no you don't have to do that!
The scythe bends, stabbing itself into his heart, the man's blood beginning to drain. The scythe gains a red aura, before its whole stick slithers out of his arm, and becomes stiff again, the scythe unlodging itself from his chest and falls onto the ground with a clank.
???: Now I return to my slumber.
Within the town, on the top of a building.
???: Uh-oh Astra, were dropping like flies.
A younger girl says chuckling, like she doesn't care about the loss or death of her comrades.
Astra: That's enough Sunna, this is going according to plan.
Sunna: Oh? The plan is a sacrificial pawn?
She says, still laughing. An explosion erupts beside them. Astras eye shifts to see it out of the corner of his eye. Jets fist hangs in the air with a wall completely obliterated.
Jet: I'm not going to let them just keep doing this to our name! Astra! I don't care if you care or not, where is the largest group of them converging. I’ll kill them ALL!
Sunna: JET! That's not anyway you should speak to Astra.
Astra: Enough Sunna.
Sunna: But… Ok.
Astra’s eyes flare, then he points in a direction.
Jet: Heh.
Jet gets into a jumping stance, before leaping forward toward the direction, landing and jumping on rooftops.
Sunna: Astra, are you sure about this?
Astra: In truth, I needed another sacrificial pawn, after Potrus disobeyed me, and got killed with Ajax.
Sunna: Oh hoho, you're so evil Astra.
She says laughing again, as if this news amused her, making her no longer mad about Jets uproar.
Sunna: Wait if there are sacrifices, why's Nero down there?
Astra: Cause he wont die. And every person he kills, the plan works out better.
Sunna giggles again. On top of this building Stands Astra, Sunna sitting on the edge of the building, Barron behind Astra at attention, in the shadows behind them stands a person in a kimono with a mask on, and next to him, another expressionless kid but with an eyepatch. Them and Nero, are the elite of the Tenyi Kill Squad.

Is their destiny set in stone, or will they forge a different path? No matter what, their choices will bring forth a new era for Mendala. ------------------------------ If you love vast fantasy worlds, rich, fleshed-out characters, and a adventure where your'e constantly discovering new things along the way, then this is definitely a story you'll enjoy. This is a slow-burn high fantasy / adventure with many characters and intersecting plotlines. It’s a quest so lots of adventuring, exploring, and character moments, but not a ton of fighting/action (though there are definitely some great fight scenes as payoff to the buildup). Because it’s a fantasy world with lots of people and new concepts, I try to make it easy so that you don’t have to memorize anything. The narrative will constantly remind you of important people/places/concepts as you keep moving forward. Some things won’t be fully explained right at the beginning to avoid information overload. My goal is that the reader will learn things organically as the story progresses. I use two mechanisms to help with the intersecting plotlines. - Each chapter is named for the (main) plotline it’s following and which part. - At the beginning of the chapter, and anytime there is a scene shift, the location is listed. Also, though this is definitely a portal-fantasy (isekai) it’s different from the standard isekai, especially since the world transfer doesn’t happen immediately. It’s not Lit-RPG but characters gain powers and grow over time. Also, it’s a group of teens that transfer, not just one central character. All of the teens are distinct characters, with their own character-arcs, relationships, powers, growth etc. Hopefully you’ll find this interesting as you’ll see the world and story from multiple perspectives. The story is always in 3rd Person (Omniscient) POV so that it’s not jarring as perspectives shift.
