Reed has been battling and walking for two more days now. At this point, he really doesn’t care too much about arriving at the city, he’s enjoying battling with demonic beast now that he has the wolves on his side.
However, every journey has to end. Reed has found finally found a small village, after one week of walking around and fighting in the forest.
Reed looked back at the wolves to see if they would follow him into the village, he didn’t want to scare people after all. But, the wolves had somehow disappeared.
Although the wolves had disappeared, Reed still felt their presence somewhere close by, so he left them alone for now.
Reed walked forward, with no idea what he should expect.
In that moment, a man with two small horns coming out of his forehead and red eyes came out with a blade in hand, looking alarmed.
After seeing Reed though, he stopped in his tracks.
Who are you? Are you part of the village? Why are you out here? Wait, where are your horns? Um… Well, for now, I’ll bring you to the elder so he can see what’s wrong with your horns Ah…
Reed tried to say something, but not having spoken for days now, he had difficulty getting words out of his mouth. In that meantime, the horned man grabbed Reed’s arm and dragged him somewhere.
Reed was taken to the biggest building in the whole village, and brought to the front of an old man who also had red eyes and two horns.
What brings you here, child? elder, this kid seems to have lost both his horns. Both his horns? That is strange… What should we do? For now, leave him here with me and I’ll see what I can do.
After seeing the man out of the room, the elder looked back at Reed with sharp and threatening eyes, emitting a clear bloodlust.

So, what is a human like you doing here? You might have fooled his eyes, but your mana is clearly different from a demon’s. …Demon…? What, never heard of us? The inhabitants of the second continent, Korland? No… Hmm…? You don’t seem to be lying… fine. I’ll listen to whatever story you have for yourself.
Reed took a while to recompose himself, and then he told the strange old man the whole story of how he ended up here, leaving out the part about his wolves, in order to protect them.
So you escaped from your village in order to flee from your father, I see… Also, this Marth village, I don’t think I have ever heard of it… ...
Looking at Reed with a curious gaze, the old man then pronounced himself:
Alright, from this day forth, you shall be considered part of this village. However, I have a few conditions: First, you must not tell the other demons you are a human. Second, you have to protect this village from demonic beasts, so we’ll be training you thoroughly from now on. And third, tell me about this village of yours. ...
Reed thought for a bit. He had no problems with the first two conditions, but the third one was weird. Guessing from the conversation so far, the demons were hostile against humans, so giving them information about Marth could very well endanger the village.
Reed thought about it. He thought, and…
I agree…
Agreed to it. After all, he had no reason to care about what happened to Marth.
I’ll try to come up with a story to tell the other demons about your horns. …
And thus, Reed’s life among demons, creatures of a different continent who, for some reason, hated humans, began.
