《The Overpowered Demon Princess Has Left Her World To Help An Author Write Her Story》Meanwhile (Part III)

It's night time. The full moon is shining brightly as usual. Sitting at a bench where the lighted lamp post somehow makes her purple hair look glittery and shiny, Nelly stares at her smartphone's bright screen. She has ten missed calls from Suzuki. The teacher even sent a message saying:

"Nelly, are you alright? Did Francis argue with you? Anyways, I hope you'll come back home as soon as possible."

"Home…" Nelly mutters solemnly. She lets out a sigh, contemplating the unfortunate incident that happened at the school she's attending. She's also thinking about the Hero's last words to her.

(SEVERAL HOURS AGO)

"Wha...what happened here, Teacher Suzuki?" said an ordinary-looking black-haired woman who looks like an office worker based on the clothes she's wearing now. Beside her was a teenage boy who turns out to be Tsubaki Hara.

"Teacher Suzuki," Hara spoke up despite his face looking flustered. "...isn't that Sakurada…"

The only explanation on why they could see Suzuki and the unconscious Sakurada who's finally freed from Siofon, was that the Infinite Dimension has disappeared completely right after Elise's soul has passed on.

"Oh! That's her name? Anyways, can you two bring her to the infirmary room? Hurry, please!"

The black-haired woman and Hara carried Sakurada with each of her arms over their shoulders. In spite of noticing Sakurada's uniform being tattered, especially around its shoulder parts, they didn't question Suzuki. Instead the woman asked Suzuki to wait at the faculty office so that the latter could properly explain what happened to Sakurada. Suzuki had to agree in order to avoid her and Hara noticing a magical battle had taken place here.

As soon as they were gone from Suzuki's sight, Nelly and Francis appeared out of the same invisible void Suzuki was in moments ago. Because of their school uniforms being tattered from the fight, it was gonna be difficult to explain the reason why they look like that; hence, Willow's Concealment Spell came in handy for this moment.

Just when Suzuki is about to ask Nelly that it's sunset soon, the latter presents Suzuki a blue smartphone in her gloved right hand.

"Sensei, I believe this belongs to Sakurada. It must've dropped from her skirt's pocket when Siofon took out that marble."

"Oh my! I've got to bring this to her. I trust that both of you will wait for me to come back. Okay?"

Once Suzuki grabbed the blue smartphone and dashed out of their sight, the atmosphere became heavy for Francis begins to grit his teeth.

"Was it necessary?" asked Francis who sounds like he's in distress at this moment.

"You mean saving that Sakurada girl? I only save her to prevent complications. If the people here find out magic exists…"

Francis gritted his teeth. He grabbed Nelly's left shoulder, forcing her to face him. Nelly did face him, witnessing the flowing anger in his eyes while he said these words grudgingly to her.

"I'm talking about Elise! You knew her identity when we saw her at that riverside last night!"

"How so?"

"For you to blurt out the name Hugh...that can't be a random guess! The only plausible possibility is that you've seen her brother back in Branshire! Why didn't you tell me when you and I were facing her at the riverside?!"

"If I did, would you be able to kill her without hesitation?"

"Don't answer with a question, woman!"

"The coincidence is ironic. That boy Hugh. You met him already."

"Huh? What do you…"

"Hugh is the boy whom you demanded payment for your dull-looking shirt."

"Payment...wait. You don't mean…"

As the flashback of the scrawny boy who spilled milk on his expensive shirt appears at the back of his mind, Francis doesn't want to believe this revelation; It doesn't make sense for the boy has straight blonde hair and blue eyes, not having curly hazel hair and green eyes like Elise's.

"They don't even look alike!" Francis yells despite being at a school at the moment

"Remember the day I took him back to his home? I saw Ella and their mother. Hugh explained to me that Elise looked like their late father," Nelly explains calmly. "So is Ella. After Elise ran away and went missing, Hugh was willing to spend most of his earnings for any information on Elise everyday, regardless of villagers exploiting him."

"So why! ...did you have to kill...her?"

"Elise had tuberculosis. Ella asked Hugh if Elise was coughing so much lately. She then showed a bloody cloth to Hugh, asking whose blood is this. He replied it was his hand being cut while he was shoemaking. Ella believed his words, but when she went to wash it off, Hugh looked like he lied and he did."

"You don't mean…this deduction of yours...is ridi…"

Then, the scary thought hit Francis because he remembered the vision where Elise was crying in front of a doctor's house.

"I thought you got used to seeing people die in front of you, Plank."

"Shut up, woman! I only slay when there's no other option to save them!"

"I suppose those angels-in-charge have told you that Golems were once humans."

"Wha...They...knew?"

"Didn't you know? They knew this for the past hundreds of years. Recently, those Golems are getting out of control. Thus, they demand you slay them for precautions."

"It can't be...That would be lying!"

"Unfortunately, keeping secrets isn't lying. But I think they did that in case you weren't able to kill a few during your first try."

Francis was about to retort her reasonings, but he was unable to say a word because he just remembered one time when he was summoned by them via a conclave back in Branshire. Wearing his usual armored attire, Francis bowed down on his right knee. Though he was allowed to face them, the angels were wearing cloaked white hoods under a very bright light that only their mouths are visible.

Francis Goodlight, as our Chosen Hero, please eradicate every Golem you'll see at Greenshore Forest.

Sir Michael, if you don't mind answering…

What is it, Francis?

Why must they be eradicated all of a sudden? I thought we're leaving them be…

Francis, I know this is a sudden task for you. Lately, most of them are going berserk that even the strongest beasts residing in the forest are unable to destroy them. That's why you must eradicate them before they go on a rampage and wreck any nearby village.

I understand, Sir Michael. Also, is there anything I need to know?

What do you mean?

Just in case I get myself heavily injured by one of the Golems…

Oh. That. Rest assured, Francis. They're easy to defeat once they face you, the Chosen Hero. They're mindless beings so there's no need to feel anything for them.

Back in current reality, Francis is feeling cold sweat, especially in his thoughts of remembering the angel leader Michael, in a monotone voice, indirectly "assuring him to not feel guilty".

"Right," Nelly replied, her voice still being monotonal despite being reprimanded by him. "I'll be heading somewhere, Plank. If Sensei gets worried about me, do assure her that I'll be back safely regardless."

She walked past Francis. Before she was leaving the area they were in, Francis muttered this sentence with despair and confusion being heard pitifully in his voice.

"You're the worst...Demon Princess."

Nelly heard it clearly. She stopped for a few seconds; Then, she proceeded to walk away, leaving Francis standing within the heavy atmosphere that's depressing him more. His back looked lonelier than ever.

After recalling the conversation earlier on, Nelly sighs while she stares at the full moon. As she still stares at the moon, she proceeds to talk to herself, her arms resting nonchalantly on the bench's backrest.

"Was I too harsh on him? I know I should make him hate me more, but somehow I'm feeling conflicted. It's funny because I'm not even human, and yet I'm feeling bad for Plank."

Once she lets out another sigh, she lifts up her arms from the backrest, putting her gloved hands in her skirt's pockets. Her eyes are staring at the ground, but it's clear to see she's thinking about her past as she proceeds to finish talking to "someone".

"To think he still has a sensitive heart like you...Frederick. After all, he's your kid."

The breezy wind has made Nelly to notice some ebine orchids growing across the pathway park. Seeing them grow in a calm and beautiful state has reminded her about Ranjō. She looks at the moon again, wondering how her cousin is doing without her being there.

(Meanwhile, back at the Demon Lord's castle...)

It seems that next to Ranjō's blue bed is a purple bed belonging to Demon Princess Nelly. Ranjō, who seems to be wearing a dark gray & beige Boy Scout outfit, begins dusting her bed and the bookshelf where most of them consists of light novels brought by Willow a month ago.

"To think I'm still unable to read Big Sis's books from that world…, Ranjō mutters to himself.

"Master Ranjō," says Auto, also known as Mister Security, with his mechanized voice being echoed throughout the entire bedroom. "Do you require my assistance to translate those words? Since I was brought back from that world… though I can't guarantee that I've managed to learn the main languages of your world…"

"Oh! No, no, Auto. It's fine. I'm just wondering what kind of story Big Sis has read back then. To think she insists on going to another world when we barely know how different it is from ours…"

Suddenly, an explosion bust through the bedroom's ceiling. Debris falls down just a few steps behind Ranjō, who got so startled and frightened by the sound of the explosion that he quickly hid himself at Nelly's bedside.

He peeks out to see whoever is standing behind the thick smoke and dust emitting from the fallen debris. Once the smoke has dispersed, Ranjō can clearly see someone familiar. It's another young-looking demon having the same height as him. The demon kid has azure hair and eyes along with two short gray horns on his forehead. His attire being a black military-like uniform with a dark blue cape and dark brown boots. Ranjō then remembers who he is exactly for it's been a long time since he last saw him.

"D.D.!? When did you come back? I thought you were training yourself at Grayshore…"

"Ranjō, did that bastard kidnap Nell?"

"Huh? D.D., you sound...upset…who kidnapped who?..."

A glare from D.D. is making Ranjō feeling more pressured than his encounter with Francis Goodlight. And one more time in his intimidating voice, D.D. asks Ranjō one final time.

"Where did that bastard take Nell?"
